We are skiers! Summer time we frequent Mad/Chase/Mill River - two are within walking distance from back yard.
We are outdoor folks - picnic table, fire pit, chairs for outside - We like clean! We use this house and want it to be as clean and comfortable for you as for us. We have what we consider the finest cleaning crew in the Mad River Valley.
We've even had weddings in our yard - large, flat and professionally maintained, it's a great place to spend time with family and friends. In summer/fall, there are no other houses in view of the yard - very private.
Kevin purchased this house in 2003
House is filled with light on all three levels.
Summertime yard is perfect for outdoor gatherings around fire pit next to hot tub and picnic table, plus deck with large grill off kitchen. Yard is perfect for Frisbee, sitting out on a warm day with woods all around - no neighbors can be seen in summer. Close to everything, even short walks in private neighborhood. Lot's of light in house east-facing living/kitchen and deck off kitchen.Great sunrises from living/kitchen area and deck with your coffee. Catemount Trail access from back yard.
This is the very best valley in Vermont! Better snow ( 300'+) from lake effect, NO stop lights, franchises, or cheesy motels for 30+ miles in Mad River Valley - VERY quiet year round, yet close to Stowe, Woodstock, Killington and 45 mins to Burlington! Montreal is 1.5-2 hrs drive.
Flat yard for kids adults who enjoy sitting outside, manicured professionally maintained lawn, hot tub and fireplace for year round enjoyment outside, Can see no houses in summertime.
Private community with 28 houses - no traffic. Good walking/snowshoeing paths behind house ( Catemount Trail) Marked!
2.5 miles to the famous Farmers Market in Waitsfield Village each Sat - 4 miles to Warren Store. Long Trail is accessed from either Appalachian Gap ( 4 miles) or Lincoln Gap ( 6 miles) over Mts Abraham, Lincoln, Ellen, General Stark and four minor peaks for easy drop off and pick up
The house was as advertised. Kevin made sure we knew how to get into the house and what to expect. He also answered all of our questions and did so in a timely manner. Plenty of space for numerous adults and kids. The satellite tv was a big hit with the children after a long day skiing or sledding. The house is very close to the main access road to Sugarbush as well. We enjoyed eating at the Hyde Away Inn and the Blue Stone. Both are less than a five minute drive. If we were to complain about anything it would be that our minivan had a difficult time getting up the road and into the driveway. Four wheel driver wouldve been a big help. We would absolutely stay here again if we chose to go back to Sugarbush.
Great communication from the owners and a great space for a large group to spread out in. Would highly recommend.
we loved this home-the layout, amenities including hot tub and firepit-felt like camp!
kitchen was well stocked and we enjoyed meal prep and eating in the dining room.
TVs were great
library for reading and quiet worked well
great mud room and we needed it as it was muddy instead of snowy
we hope to return as a family when there is real snow to ski.
This is our 5th time to stay here. We love the warm and cozy feel of home. Fully stocked kitchen, plenty of beds and bathrooms. Very clean. Close proximity to farmers market, restaurants and hiking trails. Perfect for large groups that like private bedroom space and a really cool bunking room for traveling with kids and teenagers.
Our two bridal parties AND their significant others (20 total) stayed here for our wedding weekend and could not have asked for a better set up! The house has one master suite (bedroom and full bathroom), which was perfect for my husband and me, and tons of sleeping space for a whole house full of adults! Having three FULL bathrooms was key. The fire pit and hot tub were such a great spot to hang out at night in addition to the good sized living room/dining room area.
The people living in the apartment above the garage were there on and off over the weekend, though we never saw them, just their car! This is the one thing I was a little worried about, but turned out to be a non-issue.
The owner was very responsive via email throughout the booking process, leading up to the event, and even afterward...when friends forgot some items in the house!
We highly recommend this property!
A few friends and I stayed here during mud season and enjoyed it. We were in town for Lawson's Finest Liquids 7th Anniversary Market/Party in nearby Waitsfield, where the beer was excellent - the whole surrounding area from Warren up through Waterbury, Hardwick and the Northeast Kingdom has amazing craft beer and spirits. The weather was nice enough to eat on the back deck just off the kitchen/main living room. We also took a dip in the hot tub which is right outside the garage (other side of house from the deck) and has a firepit ready and waiting to dry you off when you're done.
Ping pong in the garage was cool too.
Upstairs bedroom and bath were good. Middle level (it's a split level house) had two good living rooms, one of which shares an open concept with the dining area and kitchen (that opens up to the deck). Full bath on mid level too.
We mostly avoided the lower level since it had a musty smell. The tenant above the garage and the owners checked on it for us, and to them it was a normal basement/old house smell so we could have been overreacting. The owners and the housekeeper were extremely responsive to our concerns about the smell and had smell absorbing bags ("damp rid") at the house which we used to try to mask the smell.
Golf( Robert Trent Jones Course 3 mi), antiquing and most of all, relaxing, no traffic here!
