Overview

About the property

Lupin Cabin - Beautiful one-bedroom cabin just minutes from Yosemite Valley

Yosemite Hilltop Cabins are located within the gates of Yosemite National Park in the tiny community of Foresta. It is hard to believe that such a quiet and peaceful place like this exists just fifteen minutes from the sometimes bustling Yosemite Valley.

NOTE – This listing is for the Lupin Cabin. The listing and availability calendar for the Sage Cabin is also on VRBO/HomeAway under property number 815550. Both cabins are on the same property, have the same floor plan, and are furnished almost identically. We created a separate listing for the Sage Cabin in early February 2016 so reviews for both cabins are on this listing prior to that date.

The cabins are very private. Even though the Sage and Lupin Cabins are located next to each other they are oriented to maintain maximum privacy. Each cabin has 17-foot-tall wood beam ceilings with ceiling fans and lots of windows to take advantage of the beautiful views of the surrounding mountains. When you are at the cabins you can see the top of El Capitan, Yosemite's world famous 3000 ft tall granite cliff.

Each cabin has a master bedroom with a comfy king-size bed and down comforter. They also have a full bath, full kitchen, and reading loft. Each cabin also has its own patio with a high quality Weber gas barbecue

When you arrive at your cabin there will be fresh linens on the bed and clean towels in the bathroom. There will be brand-name shampoo, conditioner, and body wash in the bathroom. You will only need to bring food, clothes, and personal toiletry items.

Fantastic hiking and running trails with wildflowers, waterfalls, and wildlife can be accessed right from the cabins.

The Sage and Lupin cabins are available for nightly rental. Each cabin has a TV/DVD player. There is a small DVD library to pick from or you can bring your own movies.

The kitchen has all the cookware and dinnerware that you will need to prepare and serve meals. The kitchen also has a microwave oven, toaster, blender, coffee grinder, and coffee maker.

The cabins are heated in the winter by propane heaters that look like wood-burning stoves. Both cabins have air conditioning for your summer comfort.

Some cell phones work at the cabins. Verizon is the best. Each cabin has a land-line telephone for use during your stay.

There is satellite internet provided by HughesNet. There is a cap on the amount of bandwidth that is available. PLEASE DO NOT STREAM MOVIES OR WATCH VIDEOS AS IT WILL IMPACT GUESTS THAT ARRIVE AFTER YOU.

As of November 2014 there is no longer a hot tub at the cabins. It was a tough decision but keeping the hot tub clean and in working order finally became too much.

Current Yosemite road and weather conditions can be found by calling Yosemite National Park at 209-372-0200. Current road conditions in the State of California can be found by calling Caltrans at 800-427-7623.

Grocery Stores/Markets near cabins – Crane Flat Gas Station/Market (8 miles), Yosemite Village Market (13 miles), El Portal Market on Hwy 140 (14 miles).

Hilltop cabins for the perfect stay

  • 5 of 5

The place is perfect for a (slightly) adventurous family trip to the park. It's located inside the gate but just far enough away from the valley to feel remote and peaceful. The cabin itself is superbly outfitted and just the right balance of rustic and modern. We've already recommended it to others!

Beautiful cabin, great experience!

  • 5 of 5

It's a little tough to get to with varying weather and rough roads, but it's so worth it. Get away from the craziness of Yosemite Village and still be within the park with a place all to yourself. Would definitely recommend!

Home away from home

  • 5 of 5

Thank you Steve for such a lovely cabin experience. We traveled with a 4 and 6 year old and everyone enjoyed the cabin! The kids called the upstairs loft "kid's playhouse", and like climbing up the ladder quite a bit. The gas heater heated the place nicely, a little too warm for the loft but we learned to turn down the thermostat early or else the loft will feel like summer. The bedroom did not get heated but there is a room heater for your use. We only had it on an hour before bed and turned it off when we were ready to go to sleep. We like to sleep cool though. The bed was a king bed that was cozy and has a great view of Foresta. Kitchen has everything we needed for cooking. This was a great experience and my kids were sad we were there just for the weekend. We will be back!

It has everything you need!

  • 4 of 5

Small, quaint and comfortable. No view and no TV. We didn't really miss the TV because this was a back to nature trip. So bring a book! The location is great! But unfortunately the 2013 fire burned a lot of the area and trees around the cabin. All that considered we would definitely go back. We stay in VRBO homes at least two or three times per year so this is a great endorsement. Enjoy!

Secluded mountain retreat in a great location!

  • 5 of 5

This was our first experience with VRBO and it couldn't have turned out better. This is a comfortable, secluded mountain retreat in Yosemite National Park. We spent three nights (wish it could have been more) in the Lupine cabin with our 12-year old son. The cabin is clean, comfortable and well-furnished. Cooking meals ourselves was very important to us as there are very few (actually no) affordable dining options in the park. The kitchen has everything you need, including very nice cookware, a good knife set, and a Weber grill - thank you! We loaded up on groceries in Mariposa before entering the park and loved coming home after our hiking adventures to a home-cooked meal. Our son loved having the loft all to himself, and this is a nice sleeping option if you are traveling with older children (the ladder would be tricky for youngsters). We have been to Yosemite 4 times over the past couple of decades, and discovered that spring is the most magical time to visit the park. We avoided the crowds and heat that come with summertime travel. Daily temperatures were between 60-70 degrees - perfect for hiking and taking in all the sites of the valley. Thank you for a wonderful vacation retreat!
