About Jon Huntington - Ledgelawn Cottage since 1996

Jon Huntington is a retired engineer /scientist married to my wife Nina (Nurse and college professor)

Jon Huntington - Ledgelawn Cottage since 1996 purchased this cottage in 1995

Why Jon Huntington - Ledgelawn Cottage since 1996 chose Brunswick

I bought this property when I retired because I spent my summers on the New Meadows as a boy. I would spend hours investigation the tidal pools in the rocks inspecting nearly microscopic shrimp, snails, fish and other fauna. Later I would fish, row and sail to explore the local islands.

What makes this cottage unique

the cottage sits on about 3/4 acre with a small private beach. the 11 ft tides are amazing. your views are constant;y changing. We offer a 16' canoe to explore the coast or fish and have a dock if you want to launch your own boat.

Clean, comfortable, warm and dry!

  • 4 of 5

Loved the location, right on the New Meadow River. Thanks for the use of the canoe! This was a truly "summer cottage" experience. Nothing fancy, a bit dated, but clean and comfortable. The kitchen had all the utensils and cooking gear we needed. Good internet connection and cable TV. Ledge Lawn was a good base camp for ranging out to so many locations: 5 Islands, Popham Beach, the Audobon reserve, Bath, and all points north! We lucked out with beautiful weather. Thanks Jon

Rustic, Charming House on the Bay

  • 4 of 5

Had a great, get-away-from-it-all week in Maine. Relaxing, quiet setting. Enjoyed good dining from the tip of Bailey Island back to Bath.

Good location for neighboring towns, great fishing

  • 3 of 5

The house is in a nice secluded area in the woods but close enough to great lobster and shopping towns. The house has a nice long dock with great fishing and the high and low tide changes are amazing. This is a great place for a family especially if your on a budget, the kitchen has everything you need. My family and I,along with our dogs enjoyed our stay and the owners were very helpful and super nice. The only conplaints is the house did have a heavy urine sent throughout the house and in the bedrooms, after opening all the windows and buying a few candles it was fine and the shower turned off about every 3 minutes or so.We tryed to take in consideration that this is a pet friendly place and as far as the plumming.'s an old house so I'm sure there's not much that could be done as far as the water. The house has really great WiFi and an awesome nature preserve across the street but the nature preserve is not pet friendly however, we did bring our dogs to the local dog park and they just loved it! They swam like crazy and got to play with lots of dogs.

Just what we were looking for!

  • 5 of 5

Having grown up in Maine and spending considerable time near and on the water in Casco Bay and further Down East from Boothbay Harbor to East Port, a week with my wife at Ledge Lawn was a mixture of nostalgia and new experiences as we took daily canoe rides, exploring the local islands and low tide shell middens, and walks through the local Audubon preserve, as well as drives to the local peninsulas and visits to the Maritime Museum in Bath. If you like boating, fishing, cycling, hiking, swimming, or just sitting on the dock and eating fresh lobsters and clams from the local fishmongers, everything is within a short stride or ride from Ledge Lawn. And Jon and Nina, the proprietors, provide everything you need tucked into the many cabinets and drawers, nooks and crannies throughout the house. Having spent my youth summering in such cottages throughout Maine, you'll find an authentic experience at Ledge Lawn.

Summer vacation in Maine for extended family of 5 adults, a toddler and an infant

  • 5 of 5

Charming camp style house right on the water in West Bath. This is a very quiet location with almost no traffic on the road in front of the house. The water view was terrific. The tide rises and falls 12 feet so the shore line is constantly changing. We saw bald eagles and ospreys every day. The canoes that comes with the house were fun for everyone. The gas grill had 2 full bottles of propane. (that almost never happens with a rental). The bathrooms and kitchen were well stocked with paper goods and cleaning products. There is no current in the water near the house so it is very safe boating. The location is secluded but all your shopping needs are 15 minutes away. Popham Beach is 20 minutes away. Popham is possibly the best beach in Maine. My family has rented dozens of summer vacation homes. We will definitely come back to this one.
