Harwich Port House Rental Photos and Description

6 bedrooms - Sleeps 7 to 14 - Private Beach

Overlooking its own private white sand beach on Nantucket Sound, this private enclave features a 3 bed / 3 bath main house and 2-story 3 bed / 2 bath annex. The rambling casual summer house easily accommodates 14 in its 6 bedrooms. Located on Nantucket Sound, which has the warmest, gentlest water on Cape Cod, the beach house is ideal for families with children. The property works well for large gatherings as there are areas where everyone can be together as well as separate living spaces to get away and read a good book. The prevailing southwesterly breezes off Nantucket Sound in the summer months fill the air with the refreshing sounds and smells of the sea. Evenings, enjoy incomparable sunsets and watch the moon rise over the water and glimpse the glimmer of lights beyond the horizon. Spend your vacation in this paradise of relaxed living in the best tradition of Olde Cape Cod.

Review Title : 215813 - "Dynamic layout"

"In July 2008 my family and parents stayed here. It was the perfect time of year.

The property layout is great. There are two large common areas(rooms) where we couuld all gather for games/TV/movies. The rooms were the living room and the sun room. Additionally, the sun room was great for dinner. We set up one large table and all ate together in one room which given the group size was great for such a large family group. In additon to these two rooms of course was the outside courtyard which also was available however we chose not to use it for dinner.

The bedrooms are great in that they are situated in such a way that they are private and the noise from common areas does not reach them. So some of our group could go to bed while others stayed late into the evening/morning. Also great was the central air so all could escape the summer heat during the day but primarily the humidity at night.

Located mid-cape allowed for quick day trips to either end of cape.

The waterfront does not have much surf so body surfing is not an option. However we still did group swimming. Seaweed is present. But being New Englanders that did not phase us.

Plenty of beach chairs, beach toys were provided. One item youu may want to bring is a full LP tank for the grill so as to avoid having to run out just when starting a diner.

Made for a greate memorable family experience where we all could share time while allowing time away/privacy as wanted.

One note. Garbage is picked up at end of week. So I would recommend lobster/seafood feast(s) for later in week so as to avoid the smell for a week.

A great rental for families who want to spend time together while at the same time have seperate private time.

Great Stay

  • 5 of 5

House was clean with more than enough room for everyone. Spectacular location. Great place for multi-family or large family gathering. Weather was great. We actually went swimming in late September. Had a great whale watch out of Provincetown. Would rent again. Thank you Margaret for all your help and hard work.

Great layout & location

  • 4 of 5

This was a perfect ocean front house for our family. The house is very spacious, clean & the layout was awesome . The view from the second floor of the Crows Nest is amazing. The only thing I would like to see changed is a little bit of updating in the Crows Nest and some work on the landscaping. Margaret is very nice and when ever you have a question she's right there to answer you. Would we ever return, absolutely!

Great Location

  • 4 of 5

This large beach house is located steps away from a public beach. Because of its size and unique design our three families never felt crowded. The house is dated and the curb appeal does not compare to the neighbors, but it was perfect for our three families to enjoy Cape Cod. Margaret was very responsive to any questions. I would recommend.

The location of the house is excellent!!!....BUT

  • 2 of 5

The review is relative to other large houses (same size/roughly same price +/- $3k) we've rented on the Cape, so for us there was an expectation. If you've never rented a large cape house before and don't have expectations this house will suite you just fine. For us, the poor house needs some serious TLC by the owner. I've also never had to rent linens for all the beds from a third party, which didn't even end up matching how many twins and queens there were in the house. The house should get no stars for how dirty it was and it could just be how old and decrepit it has become or how cheap the owner is to spend a few extra man hours on cleaning the house...who knows.

Would I rent the house again....? Probably not, so many choices at much better prices on Cape Cod.

Did we have an epic Cape weekend that everyone will remember? Absolutely, it's all about friends, family, and activities!!!!!

Beautiful Location

  • 4 of 5

We rented this house for my parents 50th wedding anniversary. It was great in that there were 6 different bedrooms where everyone could get away from each other, it was also wonderful that the common areas were so large to accommodate spending time as a group.

The house is very child friendly which was wonderful for our group.

My only complaints were the DVD player was not working and there was the outside grill was out of gas. As we stayed for a holiday weekend in October, I did not call anyone - and we just cooked inside.

Otherwise a very lovely home, and someplace I would recommend to friends.

Car: recommended

Swim at your own private beach. Fish on a party boat or rent a sailboat. Take the ferry to Nantucket from nearby Saquatucket Harbor. Fish on the bridges over the Herring River. Rent bikes and ride along the Cape Cod Rail Trail from Dennis to Wellfleet. Race a go cart at the track at the intersection of Rte 28 and Rte 39. Burn calories on the trampolines. See how good a hitter you are at the batting cages or how good a bumper boat captain at the bumper boat flotilla. Dine at the many fine restaurants in Harwich and Chatham, or enjoy a root beer float at the local A&W. Play golf at one of the finest public courses in the US, Cranberry Valley, or play at one of the best and oldest beginner courses in the US, the Harwich Port Golf Course. Play miniature golf. Play tennis or go antiquing. Look for old books in a used bookstore or sit in the Brooks Free Library, admire the Rogers' groups, and read the New York Times. Swim at a fresh water lake (Long Pond).
