Quiet Woods, Spectacular Beaches: Enjoy the natural beauty and solitude in an unparalleled setting. Enjoy miles of uncrowded beach. The house is perched on a wooded dune, up a 60 step stairway from the driveway parking, providing spectacular views over Lake Michigan.

Golf at several nearby dramatic courses, such as Arcadia Bluffs. Enjoy the natural springs in Onekama's Park or eat at the Blue Slipper. Spend the day at the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore 40 or so miles north. The list is endless!
My family stayed here and were amazed at how beautiful and spacious this house was. The kitchen had every gourmet option available(some I have never heard of). The location was terrific. We could walk down to the beach on the Lake Michigan side and just hang out, or go over to the Portage Lake side where more water sports were offered.
The house is conveniently located between Manistee National Forest, Sleeping Bear Dunes and many other lakes and rivers. We went up to Leland, Charlevoix and Petoskey, but never really needed to leave the house. There was so much to offer right at the house. The sunsets were gorgeous(with no mosquitos) and the beach very soft and clean.
I would recommend this house to anybody looking for a relaxing get away or outdoor enthusiast, looking for hiking, biking or water sports. I would definitely stay here again. Brian was great to work with, and even responded at midnight on the 4th of July.
I have rented many vacation homes in the past, in numerous states, and this was by far the best experience to date. The homeowner was very personable, very accommodating, and very hospitable. The photos in the listing were extremely accurate but honestly did not entirely do the home justice. The location is fabulous, the home is gorgeous, as are the views and the beach. Every other vacation rental I have stayed in was very nice but lacked a home-like feeling, not to mention they felt empty with me needing to haul everything including toilet paper, hand soap, linens, groceries, etc. This home is fully stocked with everything and anything you could want or need! All we brought were ourselves and groceries! There are several cabinets in the office with every game you can think of and bookshelves filled with books. We spent so much time with our children playing games, cards, puzzles, etc. Not to mention all of the time we spent on outside and on the gorgeous beach. It was honestly the best family vacation we have taken and in the best setting. I highly recommend this home and we intend to rent this property again in the future!!! However, I do not recommend it for families with young children or those with physical issues as you have to climb a flight of 60+ stairs to get up to the house and the home is definitely not child-proofed. Our children range in age from 9-17 and we are very physically active so these weren't issues for us. Also, there is only 1 TV in the loft with a DVD player and there is no cable or satellite or internet service. Cell signal is also minimal at best. So if you require these amenities, this would not be suitable for you. These are the only two items that I could see being an issue for potential renters but we found them to be positives as it prompted us to be tech-free, laid-back and focused on spending quality time with our family.
In addition to enjoying the peace and quiet of the natural setting, enjoy water and beach activities in both Lake Michigan and Portage Lake. Visit the historic town of Manistee 15 miles south or lovely Frankfort, the gateway to the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, 20 miles to the north. Golf at nearby Manistee National, Arcadia Bluffs, and Crystal Mountain golf courses, cross country and downhill ski at Crystal Mountain, enjoy concerts at Interlochen Music Center and events in Traverse City. See a double feature family movie at the historic Cherry Bowl Drive-in theater near Honor or see a play at Manistee's historic Ramsdell Theater. Hike, bike and kayak with rentals in nearby Manistee and Beulah. Walk down to the historic Portage Point Inn for dinner, to rent a bike or jet ski, to climb Angel dune or go on a fishing charter cruise. Fish off the pier. Take a scenic airplane coastal tour from Manistee Blacker airport.
Other Activities: Beach walks, walks in the woods, sunsets, beach volleyball, sunbathing etc. etc,
Golf: Close to Arcadia Bluff, Manistee National, and Crystal Mountain golf courses
Ski: Close to Crystal Mountain ski resort as well as cross country skiing on the beach or groomed trails nearby.
