Excellent holiday and very relaxing. The view from the house is amazing and the house itself was perfect. The owner of the house is very nice and helpful. The locals are friendly and welcoming.
Just back from 10 days here. The information provided here is absolutely 100%. This villa has everything you could possibly want from a holiday rental - well appointed, regularly serviced, spacious and well maintained. Highly recommend a car as villa is a short way from the village and footpaths and street lighting are not a common occurrence! Good area for a base as not too far from most of the island's attractions. Agni travel provided an excellent service and extremely helpful when we realised we'd booked our flights home on the wrong day.
Good and not so good points. Firstly, the villa is in a superb location with stunning views and a lovely secluded pool. It is surrounded by a large area of beautiful olive trees, flowers and plants. It sits about 70 m above the road that winds up through Nisaki and above and although you can hear light traffic during the day, it is very quiet at night. It is in a very accessible area reached quickly from the main road whereas other villas higher up the hill are disadvantaged (possibly) by a fairly narrow and bendy route which might become tiresome on a regular basis - especially at night. The view is not that much better higher up either. In fact, from villa Spyros, you can't see any other habitation below giving the feeling that you are not surrounded by other people.
There were a few things however that were disappointing. The beds were rock hard causing considerable discomfort so if you have arthritic hips or backs - beware. Hire a lilo to soften the impact on your bones! The internet was available but only after a minor hassle which involved contacting the owner via Eos travel to get the password and then paying 15 euros on top. The washing machine doesn't work properly nor does the TV (Greek only) Despite having a satelite disc, the card has been removed. The DVD works but doesn't have the correct remote control. The hob and oven work very well but take note - the oven will only work if the clock is working. No manuals are provided deliberately (?) it seems to discourage use of these essential items. With the exception of toilet paper, there are absolutely NO basic provisions whatsoever - not even salt or washing-up liquid/dishwasher cubes etc.
If you are arriving late at night, ask Agni to forward a shopping list from the local supermarket and they will have provisions waiting for you. This worked well and their paklavas are wonderful for breakfast on the terrace. We ate very well all over the island. Agni's own restaurant has excellent food but was the most expensive. Lovely location down in the cove. It is worth hiring a boat through Agni (About 115 euros. i.e. 80 for daily hire plus about 35 euros for petrol.) One of the team will give you basic lessons and away you go - great fun!
Would we go back to Corfu? Yes, definitely. Would we stay at villa Spyros? Probably not due to the uncomfortable beds but our overall stay at villa Spyros was memorable.
Nissaki is a small pretty resort with a horseshoe-shaped beach, offering excellent swimming and water sports. There are several tavernas specialising in local cuisine. A small harbour shelters the many little fishing boats that are moored there and there is a jetty/collection point for the Taverna Agni water taxi which offers an evening service to Taverna Agni and a twice-weekly trip to Corfu Town.
