A rare beachfront property! Two screened porches, master bedroom, and living room overlook a private beach. This Florida beach house, located on the exclusive north end of Casey Key, presents incredible views of sunsets and aqua waters of the Gulf of Mexico. Built in the 1940s by the owners' grandfather, this home has been extensively remodeled but has retained the charm & feel of old Florida. It is 100% solar powered as of October 2011. Feel good about where you are staying!
About Casey Key: Casey Key is an 8 mile long barrier island located on the west coast of Florida about 15 miles south of Sarasota, a cultural center. The beaches are refreshingly natural, with protected wild sea oats and mangroves providing a protective habitat for the scores of native island birds that share the island, as well as the dolphins, manatees and other aquatic wildlife living just offshore. The majority of the island is a conservation district.
Services: House cleaning is scheduled for Saturdays at 10 am.
A gas grill is provided. Gas refills for the grill are available at the corner gas station on Blackburn Point, (over the Flying Bridge) if renters desire to use it. A charcoal grill is also available.
My siblings and I share ownership of this house.
Virginia Morgan purchased this house in 1941
The house and beach were unaffected by the hurricane season- still as beautiful as ever.

We enjoyed our stay at this house on Casey Key. It has a very natural, heavily-landscaped yard, which gives privacy from some of the less naturally inclined neighbors - besides being on a wonderful beach, of course. The furniture is less than perfect, but we found that putting away some of the "extra touches" that the maids put out really improved the looks of the place. It could use some neatening up, however, with so many books just thrown up on the shelves etc. So all in all, I recommend this house but with the warning not to expect elegance, just a very nice relaxing visit.
The view the beach and the house is perfect for us. Wait up each with the view and the sound of the waves. This is a diamond in the rough. You can't beat this beach cottage. We love to visit next year.
Although this property is showing its age, it is well maintained, comfortable and has almost everything anyone would need for a comfortable, unforgettable location to get away from the cold Northern Winter months. The owner was gracious and accommodating. The views, especially the sunsets, were phenomenal. The shell table and chairs by the beach was a pleasure. The water upon arrival was crystal clear and beautiful. The screened porch overlooking the Gulf was ideal for evening meals. The only distraction from this little piece of heaven was the lack of beach chairs and bicycles. We had to go to WalMart to buy beach chairs and took daily walks while watching many, many others biking the lonesome 7 mile stretch up and down the island of Casey Key. We had left another beautiful location on Anna Maria Island the previous week where bikes, beach chairs and all kinds of other amenities were offered, in order to come to this property on Casey Key. Bottom line, this Casey Key beach house is an ideal location for beach and sun lovers of all ages.
The house was charming and relaxing the moment I open the door!
This location was super easy to find, get to, and get settled in quickly. The description honestly portrayed convenient access to beach and relaxing privacy that can be hard to come by when searching for a beach house. The both attractive and pet-friendly property contributed to it actually feeling like a vacation. As any dog lovers would agree, when your four-legged family members approve, everybody wins. It didn’t even take a couple days into our stay for our dogs to behave as if this was our now new home base. Our dogs have traveled with us to many different rentals and never before seemed so content and relaxed. This had to have stemmed significantly from their sensing the very same in us. Life was smooth sailing at the house. We had clean and tidy, well equipped and comfy, just the right proximity from restaurants and stores, and easy to contact (but not in your business) customer service. Enjoying the Casey Key Fish House was about as easy as it gets! Experiencing the much needed dose of beach, sea, and fresh air was rejuvenating. As it is so often the case, the cherry on top was (respectfully) observing aquatic life in its natural state!! Dolphins, large rays, herons, and hands down the most awe inspiring sea turtles, were exactly the types of creatures we desired to share our visit with! There was no avoiding being spoiled by our stay. We would even go as far as to say it ruined us for the rest of the summer…maybe the year. We have spent the last couple months reminiscing about the trip and referring to the Casey Key house as if it were a person that we’re feeling long overdue for another visit.
We had the beach to ourselves. We met people strolling for shells or walking their dog, but we were the only ones sitting on the beach for two weeks with our Labrador who loves to swim. The water was full of life. We saw a manatee, sting rays, dolphins, a baby hammerhead and there were people night fishing for sharks. We really lucked out with the weather, in the 80's the first week and high 70's the second. The location was great and you can walk to Casey Key Fish House for great food or a short drive to Ophelia's Pasta or Rosebuds for Prime Rib, both vey good. We expected to be remote, but It was a short drive, 5 minutes, to Walmart or CVS or nail salons or anything you need. We drove 20 minutes to Siesta Key and the beach was gorgeous, but packed. A great restaurant in Siesta was Ophelias on the Bay, where we spent Christmas. A 30 minute drive brought us to Sarasota or Lido Key and Armand's Circle and shopping. The house was perfect for us with 3 comfortable bedrooms, all new appliances, nice bathrooms. It has a tile floor throughout which was great so we could sweep up sand we tracked in despite our rinsing in a bucket. The only area of improvement would be the inside patio and living room furniture, which was weathered and stained. Slip covers that could be washed and weatherproof plastic chairs would be a cheap and great improvement. The owner was very responsive when we emailed her with a question. We had a great vacation and would love to go back.
Walk five minutes over the 'Flying Bridge' to Blackburn Point Marina and Casey Key Fish House- great seafood! Sarasota and Venice with dining, shopping and museums are nearby. Take long walks and go shell collecting. Relax on your own romantic private beach. And every evening enjoy the famous sunsets.
