Casey Key Beach House: A Place to Relax

Property type house
Minimum Stay 7 nights

Overview

About the property

3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, sleeps 6.

A rare beachfront property! Two screened porches, master bedroom, and living room overlook a private beach. This Florida beach house, located on the exclusive north end of Casey Key, presents incredible views of sunsets and aqua waters of the Gulf of Mexico. Built in the 1940s by the owners' grandfather, this home has been extensively remodeled but has retained the charm & feel of old Florida. It is 100% solar powered as of October 2011. Feel good about where you are staying!

About Casey Key: Casey Key is an 8 mile long barrier island located on the west coast of Florida about 15 miles south of Sarasota, a cultural center. The beaches are refreshingly natural, with protected wild sea oats and mangroves providing a protective habitat for the scores of native island birds that share the island, as well as the dolphins, manatees and other aquatic wildlife living just offshore. The majority of the island is a conservation district.

Services: House cleaning is scheduled after departure. Added cleanings may be scheduled at the renter's expense.

A gas grill is provided. Gas refills for the grill are available at the corner gas station on Blackburn Point, (over the Flying Bridge) if renters desire to use it. A charcoal grill is also available.

Great Beach Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at this house on Casey Key. It has a very natural, heavily-landscaped yard, which gives privacy from some of the less naturally inclined neighbors - besides being on a wonderful beach, of course. The furniture is less than perfect, but we found that putting away some of the "extra touches" that the maids put out really improved the looks of the place. It could use some neatening up, however, with so many books just thrown up on the shelves etc. So all in all, I recommend this house but with the warning not to expect elegance, just a very nice relaxing visit.

Relaxing week at the beach!

  • 5 of 5

I loved staying here and celebrating a big birthday with friends and family. The north part of Casey Key is mostly houses and you pretty much have the beach to yourself (at least this time of year). I loved that we could walk to the Tiki bar (fun atmosphere and great views) and Fish House (great food!), and we had fun looking for shark teeth and shells. I loved the fact I could bring my dog, who learned how to swim and had a great time at the beach. The house is cute and casual with a relaxed vibe. The owner, Virginia, promptly answered all of my questions prior to booking (and after hurricane Irma went through). We had no issues all week except that a curtain rod fell in the master bedroom. I would recommend staying here, especially if you want privacy and no crowds at the beach, and it is perfect for dogs. The only (very minor) complaint was the alarm system "speaks" every time a door is opened (even when not armed) which did get annoying. I'm not sure if it could have been turned off or down or not because I didn't bother to ask. It was very hard leaving this little piece of paradise and I hope to return for another stay soon!

Great beach house, you feel home

  • 5 of 5

The view the beach and the house is perfect for us. Wait up each with the view and the sound of the waves. This is a diamond in the rough. You can't beat this beach cottage. We love to visit next year.

Wonderful location

  • 4 of 5

Although this property is showing its age, it is well maintained, comfortable and has almost everything anyone would need for a comfortable, unforgettable location to get away from the cold Northern Winter months. The owner was gracious and accommodating. The views, especially the sunsets, were phenomenal. The shell table and chairs by the beach was a pleasure. The water upon arrival was crystal clear and beautiful. The screened porch overlooking the Gulf was ideal for evening meals. The only distraction from this little piece of heaven was the lack of beach chairs and bicycles. We had to go to WalMart to buy beach chairs and took daily walks while watching many, many others biking the lonesome 7 mile stretch up and down the island of Casey Key. We had left another beautiful location on Anna Maria Island the previous week where bikes, beach chairs and all kinds of other amenities were offered, in order to come to this property on Casey Key. Bottom line, this Casey Key beach house is an ideal location for beach and sun lovers of all ages.
