About the property

4 Bedrooms, 1 and 1/2 Bathrooms --- Sleeps 8, swimming, boating, fishing.

This lovely year-round chalet is situated in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire. It is perched only 20 ft. from private waterfront on crystal clear Rust Pond. Rust Pond is a quiet 210-acre pristine lake in South Wolfeboro, 'The Oldest Summer Resort in America.' From the master bedroom balcony, you can see the morning sunrise, watch fish swim, or simply take in the serenity. Walking out on to the dock with your coffee, you may decide to slip in for a early morning dip, being the first to quietly pierce the clam water. Breakfast on the deck is a must. In the late summer you will smile at the mist rising above the surface, offering the warmth of the lake to the crisp morning air.

Rust Pond is noted for great bass fishing. From the Chalet, a short walk along the Middleton Road and up Alpine Meadows will reward you with the most amazing view of Mount Major and Lake Winnipesaukee. The chalet is 3 miles from the center of Wolfeboro and Lake Winnipesaukee. There is a great walking path along the old railroad starting at the Wolfeboro depot and proceeding along Crystal Lake and Lake Wentworth. There are abundant restaurants, grocery, and specialty shops. Our family loves the ice cream, crepes, shoe store, jewelry, the local library, and a hidden gem, the Wright Museum. Lake Winnipesaukee Golf Club is near the Kingswood Regional High School toward the center of Wolfeboro. The Mt. Washington Cruise Ship offers sightseeing trips of Winnipesaukee from the Wolfeboro docks several days a week. Castle in the Clouds is another great take for the view, lunch or horse back riding.

There are 3 golf courses within 10 miles: Enjoy New England at it's best. The Kancamagus Highway and the White Mountains are only an hour's drive north. Mount Major in Alton offers a great day hike for families with the reward of stunning views of Lake Winnipesaukee and the Presidential Range. Story Land is an hour north if the kids aren't exhausted by swimming and playing outside all day. The the Conway outlets are an hour away if school or holiday shopping is on your agenda. Antique and yard sale expeditions are always an option if you want a change from your beautiful lake surroundings. This is a fabulous spot for the fall burst of colors and a fresh crispness to the air. Come see why our family has been enjoying Rust Pond for 4 generations

Best Place in Wolfeboro!!!

  • 5 of 5

We just got back from Staying at this "chalet" and it was the best!! We stayed on Lake Winni in the past, and it was very noisy. This house is located on Rust Pond which is about 2 miles from Lake Winni and Wolfeboro town, and it was the quietest, most tranquil place you will ever go!! The loons at night made it extra special. The fishing was incredible. Smallies, Largemouth Bass, Pikes, etc. were abundant!! Catfish at night seemed to come outta nowhere!! Swimming was incredible also!! The house itself has everything you need. The owners were super super nice and accommodating. Please don't pass this one up!! Much better than staying on the big lake.

Peaceful retreat

  • 4 of 5

My two friends and I were looking for a quiet retreat and this is the place! The house had plenty of room and was comfortable and perfectly located on a lovely lake (Rusty Pond) with beautiful views. The owners were very friendly and accommodating and we felt right at home. The house was well equipped with all of our kitchen needs (we like to cook!) and other amenities. We totally enjoyed our relaxing time reading by the lake, swimming in the clear water just outside our door, and taking the kayak out. But we also took time to sightsee in the area, pick apples, take a lake cruise (on the larger Lake Winni which was closeby) and shop in the friendly nearby town which was minutes away. Something for everyone! Thank you for a much needed vacation and I hope to return soon!

My family and I were asked to visit this home 2 years ago with friends of ours who have been staying there for years. We fell in love and realized we had to visit again. This past September we revisited and fell in love all over again. It is so peaceful to stay on Rust Pond. The sunrises and sunsets are amazing. I loved sitting with the music on in the late afternoon overlooking the pond and if I was real still the squirrels and chipmunks would run under my feet. It's such a change from our regular life of constantly being on the run. Here is New York I can barely get my teenager out of bed by 10 am and up at Rust Pond he was up most mornings by 6 am to watch the sunrise and jump in the kayaks.

Most days we stayed at the house and enjoyed fishing and boating. We finally decided to venture out and visit "Castle in the Clouds". We hiked through the property and enjoyed the waterfalls and streams, even when my son slipped in. After hiking we jumped back in the car and headed up hill to the Carriage House for the Locknow Mansion and jumped in the trolley for the ride to the home. This home was celebrating it's 100th anniversary. It's not to be missed. Absolutely stunning and built well before it's time with central vac and refrigeration. Back down at the Carriage house we enjoyed an amazing lunch sitting on the outdoor patio.

We made so many memories at this home. The homeowners are an absolute delight. I enjoyed listening to Mrs. Webb's stories of all their times on the pond. I hope to return and hear many more stories.

We stayed at this chalet while attending a wedding in Wolfboro. This chalet, in addition to its charm, provided many of those "forgotten" items, like shampoo, soap, toothpaste, iron, ironing board, scissors, etc.. It was very accomodating. The area is wonderfully peaceful with hardly anyone on the lake but a couple loons. The property has a beautiful deck with seasonal flowers that are kept flourishing for the guests in addition to plenty of comfy chairs to just relax in. We brought our little dog and she LOVED it! She'd wander down the steps to a little landing before the dock and just hang out there. There are also a few trails that go around the property that give a great walk. We were provided with a gas grill for our use, as well as a washer and dryer if we needed it (we didn't, but it was there if we needed to). The Master bedroom was very nice with sliding doors out to it's own deck overlooking the lake. The other bedrooms were roomy and plentiful for a large family with guests. The living room has a queen pull out sofa along with 3 comfy chairs and a bunch of games. The Kitchen was fully equipped including spices and olive oil which was a pleasant surprise. The fridge had condiments in it and someone even left us some ice cream bars! For those with iPods, there was also a radio/docking station combo, so we were able to listen to our choice of music. The owners, the Webbs, were very nice. We got a tour of their home which is just a short walk from the Chalet, along with a history lesson of the area. Two things I did want to mention is that although the pictures showed a wood stove in the living room, there is not one, so don't plan on burning any duraflames or anything. :) Also, if you have a lot of stuff to unload, make sure you use the access road that brings you to the side of the house, that way you don't have to walk down 2 flights of outside stairs, especially if it's raining. It might prove to be a bit tricky. We didn't realize we could do that until after everything was unloaded. Lucky for us though we knew to use it when the time came to reload to go home. All in all, I would definitely stay here again, hopefully with warmer weather to enable a sample of the crystal clear lake swimming. Thank you!!

Fishing and Rest

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I have been staying with Ruth and Ed for the past 6 years - we are both avid fishermen and you cannot beat Rust for smallmouth if you know where to find them at different times of year - they really move about depending on water temp and lake condition - My wife caught a smallmouth over 5 lbs last year and one trip over a couple of days we caught and released 58 small and largemouth bass - The key is catch and release so the lake stays healthy - For the right price I will give out some secrets - but it is really expensive LOL

Great Place

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I had a great time at this very cozy and quiet home. Awesome deck for barbeques and enjoying the waterfront view. We went hiking at Castle in the Clouds and Mt Major which were near by. Just 2 miles, in Wolfeboro Center, there is a grocery store, Dunkin Donuts, many restaurants and gift shops to browse. This house is pet friendly and our dogs also had a wonderful time. We have been to numerous homes and this by far is the best. Ruth (the owner) is very nice and extremely accomadating. Can't wait to go back.
