'Shady Maples' is located across from Frenchman's Bay in the village of Hull's Cove. This charming cottage is fully equipped for all your vacation needs. It has one bedroom, a full size bath, living room with full size sofa sleeper and a fully equipped kitchen. Our cottage is conveniently located within walking distance to entrance of Acadia National Park and 2 miles to downtown Bar Harbor. The beach across the street is great for sea glass hunting and native shells.
The cottage is cozy and private but within about 300 yards from
the Hulls Cove Beach and 1/4 mile from the entrance to Acadia
National Park. There is a restuarant just down the street with the
general store and post office nearby.
The week we stayed was most enjoyable. Everything we wanted was at hand. This is a well furnished well maintained true home away from home.
Nancy is a most personable hostess and has created a place that is a delight to be at. Inside and outside are comfortable and exactly as described in the listing information.
Would certainly return and stay again....but next time for more than just a week!
My son and I just spent a week at this wonderful cottage! Nancy was a pleasure to speak with ahead of time and nothing but welcoming and helpful during our visit. The cottage offered all of the comforts of home and was just a short drive to all daily excursions. This was a much better option than a hotel for us. All of the pictures and descriptions are 100% accurate. You won't be sorry staying here :) We hope to return to the area someday and will definitely stay here again!!
Our suggestions for the area: Timber Tina's Great Maine Lumberjack Show, Diver Ed's Dive-In Theater, Acadia Park's Ranger programs, walk the sandbar to Bar Island, Sunrise at Cadillac Mountain, and so much more!
This property is perfectly located less than a mile from the visitor center to Acadia National Park. It was the ideal location for us to enjoy hiking, biking, and the village of Bar Harbor. The owner is kind and helpful and a true delight. The cottage was cozy, clean, and comfortable. We enjoyed the patio and grill and the tastefully beautiful landscaping on the property. We were able to relax and enjoy our time together. By far one of our best vacations ever. We highly recommend this property. You won't be disappointed.
My wife at I stayed at Nancy's delightfully cozy cottage for a week. It felt like we were on a lovely vacation when enjoying Acadia and at home when we returned. The bed was very comfortable and the rest of the living space was quite intimate too. We thought it was perfect for a couple.
It was easy to get up to Cadillac mountain for the sunrise one morning and crossing over to Bar Island for another awesome sunrise. The location of the cottage, as others have mentioned, is also very nice.
Nancy was always just a phone call away and very helpful. This will definitely be our first choice whenever we get a chance to return.
Like the reviews below say, this property is very well located, water just a few steps from house with nice restaurant (where in fact you can access good WiFi, it was challenging in the house), gas station for morning coffee (if you cannot be bothered to make it yourself) short drive to bar harbor. The whole area is beautiful, the park amazing and lots to see and do. The cottage is ideal for 2. We were 3 so kept putting up the sofa bed, it worked and we were glad for the extra bedding. Large bathroom and fully equipped kitchen. Lots of towels and storage space. The place was very clean. Nancy was very helpful and friendly, we felt very comfortable and had a great time. Definitely go whale watching and take a trip to the other harbors southwest, bass and northeast, plus lakes near by to swim as the ocean is very cold here.
We recently stayed a week here and enjoyed our stay immensely. It is located very close to the Acadia Park entrance and close to Bar harbor downtown. The cottage is exactly as seen in the photos and has all the amenities as mentioned here. The ocean is across the road from the house and we enjoyed viewing the sunrise from there. The cottage is very clean and beautifully kept - the owner, Nancy, lives just next door and was very helpful.
From our cottage you can enjoy an early morning walk along the cove beach or easily access the many carriage paths and hiking trails of Acadia National Park. The park entrance is only 0.5 mile from the cottage. You may wish to take advantage of the free bus service 'Island Explorer' and visit the other villages here on Mount Desert Island or possibly enjoy a sunset cruise in Frenchman's Bay aboard the Natalie Todd. Spend a day browsing the many gift shops and galleries and enjoy a leisurely lunch at one of the fine restaurants.
