Great waterfront home!

  • 5 of 5

Home was just as described. Great view of the eagles and other wildlife everyday from the home. Wendyl was a wonderful host, even thought we never had the pleasure to meet him, he was quick to answer emails and we were welcomed with a very friendly letter welcoming us. The house was very comfy & had everything we needed. The best thing was the LOCATION! Close to everything, but far enough away from the crowds. The deck was wonderful for sitting at night with a glass of wine. Thanks again Wendyl for everything!

September Stay

  • 4 of 5

We greatly enjoyed the home's view of the water and the convenience of easy access to nearby Mount Desert Island activities. The road noise from Route 102 passing just a few feet in front of the house proved to be an annoyance, but overall we had a pleasant stay. Had we more time, we would have taken advantage of the kayaking opportunity from the home's pier, but our four-day stay was already pretty well packed with Island activities.

Relaxing

  • 5 of 5

There is something to be said about arriving at your destination and not having to get back in your car for days. This is why I love this place so much and why we keep coming back. I can unpack the car and the kids are already wading in the tidal pools or if the tide is in, grabbing kayaks and paddling out to the cove to be greated by wild dolphins. My only advice to the owner, Wendel, who is the nicest guy you will ever meet, is to invest in a Keurig coffee maker so I don't have to schlep mine up everytime....hahaha. BTW...he does keep a very nice drip maker and grinder on hand and there was plenty of coffee left in the cabinet. Other than that...the place is perfect.

Beautiful home with dock, kayaks, and in close proximity to Acadia / bar harbor

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Reccomend this house to those wanting to be near, but not in, bar harbor. Close to bar harbor but not in all the traffic and tourist trap area. We loved being so close to Acadia and hiking. Loved taking the kayaks out from the house. The front bedroom does get some noise from the main road- if you are a light sleeper this might not be for you. We used the sound machine provided and are heavy sleepers so there was no issue for us. Reccomend Acadia mountain hiking trail, go to Cadillac mountain for sunrise, and make sure to go to thurstons lobster pound. Will reccomend to friends, family, and would love to return again!

The Perfect Place To Stay!

  • 5 of 5

We had an incredible vacation this year, and a large part of it was due to the wonderful house that we rented for our stay in Acadia. The view was amazing and the house felt like home, from the minute we arrived. We enjoyed watching the eagles from the deck and dining room window for hours at a time. While we were kayaking we were delighted to see seals up close. That was totally unexpected. Our grandson loved learning how to kayak and enjoyed helping us look for beach glass at low tide. I can't say enough good things about our stay in Somesville! We hope to return next year!

Perfect house for four adults or family of five

  • 5 of 5

Three of us stayed here with two others nearby. The two bedrooms are spacious and have bathrooms plus there is a half bath downstairs as well. Other spaces are comfortably furnished. We ate almost all meals out, but the kitchen was well equipped. TV and wifi service are excellent. The house is fairly new and immaculate. Included is an outdoor deck with grill situated between the back of the house and the private dock.

The view is fabulous, like a calendar photo. We had frequent visits from bald eagles, mallards and gulls. Harbor seals live close by and can be seen from a kayak or rowboat. The location between Northeast Harbor and Southwest Harbor is ideal. The one drawback is the roadside location with traffic noise from early morning.
