Summered and lived in this pretty historic village since I was a boy. It's one of the most beautiful places I know of.
Wendyl purchased this House in 1968
Why Wendyl chose Mount Desert
Can't beat the location! Million dollar view of the mountains of Acadia National Park. Backyard deck and dock. The kayaking is great!
What makes this House unique
Photograph bald eagles, ospreys and other wildlife right from the dock. Library and gallery next door. Island Explorer pick up streetside in front of the house.

Great waterfront home!
Home was just as described. Great view of the eagles and other wildlife everyday from the home. Wendyl was a wonderful host, even thought we never had the pleasure to meet him, he was quick to answer emails and we were welcomed with a very friendly letter welcoming us. The house was very comfy & had everything we needed. The best thing was the LOCATION! Close to everything, but far enough away from the crowds. The deck was wonderful for sitting at night with a glass of wine. Thanks again Wendyl for everything!
Thank you very much Leo for the kind remarks. I am glad that you reserved our house on your first trip to Acadia and look forward to hosting you again if you come back this way.
Great view for morning coffee and center for Acadia activities.
Property was very clean and well stocked. It was nice having bathroom in each bedroom. Made each guest stay really nice. Also, really appreciated the lovely home touches and the Acadia binder. That proved extremely helpful during our tour of Acadia National Park.
Each morning we would eat breakfast at the table enjoy watching the wildlife.
Homey, relaxing, and close to Acadia and Bar Harbor
We loved staying at Wendyl´s home in Somesville. It was clean and cozy and very relaxing to look out the window over the water. In early October, the weather was great and scenery beautiful. I highly recommend taking the kayaks out during your stay though be mindful of the tides and water levels. The home provided everything we needed for our stay, I highly recommend this home to anyone coming to the Acadia area.
Great place, great location!
Warm and cozy cottage with everything you needed to feel at home. Large deck with plenty of comfortable seating. Beautiful views. I would stay again and again
Vintage, spacious, and "on the water"
House is comfortable and accommodating - everything we needed was there, including fresh flowers for our arrival!
While the location is on a fairly busy road, walk to the back side...paradise on a private cove. Lovely deck set up for comfort and an added bonus of kayaks and a row boat. A water location is the best! Found it to be a great central location to Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor, etc....everything we wanted to do.... and a retreat, to just relax.
We had a minor problem upon check in and Wendyl had it addressed immediately. Wonderful to have an owner available, not management.
Great stay....hope to return next year. Dave & Marilynn
P.S /Spectacular gallery right next store was a rewarding experience!
We greatly enjoyed the home's view of the water and the convenience of easy access to nearby Mount Desert Island activities. The road noise from Route 102 passing just a few feet in front of the house proved to be an annoyance, but overall we had a pleasant stay. Had we more time, we would have taken advantage of the kayaking opportunity from the home's pier, but our four-day stay was already pretty well packed with Island activities.
