Magdalena and Bruce Beall, the managers: we have been managing Mountain Lake Cabin for quite a few years now and it's been a rewarding experience dealing with such an attractive cabin in a beautiful location. We love it! Caroline and Jasper Buchbauer, the owners: We purchased the home in 2013 and are excited to share this wonderful area with our guests. We live in Bozeman, Montana and have come to the Centennial area for years to enjoy the great hunting and fishing opportunities in both Idaho and Montana. We hope to share this home with our family and friends for decades to come! Please contact our managers Bruce and Magdalena for reservations. They are experienced and knowledgeable and an invaluable resource for booking and area questions.

Why Magdalena Beall chose Island Park
We bought our vacation home because we love the area so much and we use it year round. We can enjoy the hunting, fishing and skiing opportunities in Idaho and its only a short drive to Montana as well.
What makes this Cabin unique
We enjoy visiting Yellowstone, the Tetons and other parks nearby. The elk hunting in this area is unsurpassed. In the winter we enjoy cross-country skiing in Yellowstone Park along the river and snow shoeing through the open National Forest lands behind our house. In the summer we enjoy horseback riding, hiking and fishing in the area. We enjoy the comfortable atmosphere of our home, we love just being there to take a vacation.

Beautiful Cozy Cabin
We enjoyed our stay at the Mountain Lake Cabin! It was well a stocked, beautiful, cozy cabin. Exactly what we wanted for a winter getaway, centrally located between Island Park and West Yellowstone! We will definitely stay here again!!
This cabin was remote and gorgeous. We enjoyed snowshoeing right out the driveway! It was well equipped with everything you could need in the kitchen. We did need chains to get out but we are used to that. Overall a wonderful cabin in a great location.
A Snow Job
The road leading up to the Cabin had not been plowed. Road was extremely icy an way too steep to handle safely. The driveway was even worse. We were stuck in the ice for over 1/2 an hour just to get the car out of the access road. Could not climb the driveway, had to drag our luggage all the way (in ice ) Wife fell and hurt her knee and hip. And no TV at all and owners were aware of this ( previous client had reported and documented ). Could not stay 2nd night-have not gotten a refund for 2nd night!!!!! Very upset.
Dear Brian, During the time of your stay, i was notified by your wife via text that you were stuck in very deep snow although the forecast hadn't indicated any prior snow that week. We monitor conditions closely and have a plow come when necessary. Despite no news of snow, I immediately called a plow to come to the house. As he had not been out to plow a single other home in Island Park that week, he had to get his equipment ready to come to the house. During that time, your wife indicated that you would need to get towed out also, a problem no guest in seven years of rentals has encountered.
When our plow got to the house, he asked if we were sure that he was supposed to be there since there was what he called a "skiff" of snow, which photos showed was 1.5-2" of light snow. Not the quantity typically plowed. He nevertheless scraped along the dirt and charged us all the same.
It appears that in planning your vacation (from your home state of Louisiana)to a location over 6500 ft in the Rocky Mountains, you did not plan for the typical weather conditions. As the Yellowstone National Park website indicates on their "Plan your Visit" section, snow is likely in varying quantities at anytime, particularly in Late October. The two wheel drive minivan rental car wasn't likely the best choice for this season or location. While i am sorry for your stay, I cannot account for your inability to return to the house for your second night. The road was plowed to dirt upon your request and the ID transportation webcams along the adjacent highway showed conditions to be clear and dry for the remainder of your stay. I viewed them myself and talked the plow operator who indicated the same.
And with regard to the TV, yes, the guests who had left the prior day indicated that the DISH service had gone out. A service tech was scheduled, but in a rural area like all of Island Park, an appointment can take up to a week. We did notify you that while the Dish service was out, you did have the convenience of high speed internet, WIFI, Amazon Prime and Netflix available at the house. It was fixed later that week and is in full working order.
When your wife notified me of your choice not to return to the home despite the clear roads and plowed dirt surface, she mentioned “the cabin is charming” and “sorry we were not prepared for those conditions” and a refund was never requested. I assumed due to the fact that the home was available and it was your choice not to return. I’m sorry that she was injured walking on the ice and snow. We hope that our future guests will consider the winter conditions inherent in this northern climate when booking their own trips to the Greater Yellowstone National Park area.
Beautiful, well maintained and equipped home.
Nicely situated about 25 minutes from West entrance of Yellowstone park. Very peaceful and quiet. Scenic countryside near Henrys Lake. We highly recommend.
Cabin was amazing
Cabin was clean and cozy: very quiet; we enjoyed the fire pit.
Thanks for staying at our home Lisa! we hope you come again!
Wildlife, fishing, hiking
Great cabin with everything you'll need, and great wildlife viewing, fishing, and hiking.
Yellowstone Park, with all of its wildlife and geothermal activities, is close to the cabin. Teton National Park is also well within reach for a day trip.
