Beach life with a French Quarter Feel on Beautiful Historic 2nd St
About Patrick Murphy
We are a Military Family originally from South Louisiana. Growing up, I spent every Summer on the Mississippi Gulfcoast and couldn't wait to get such a beautiful spot on the Sound to share with family and friends. We would still be there enjoying long walks on the beach, filling the ice chest with trout and drum, eating great food from local fare, taking in casino shows or just strolling under the Oaks of 2nd St, but orders have moved us North. I am an amateur chef who has worked professionally and already miss the functionality of that semi-commercial kitchen. Hopefully we will be back soon, but until then we look forward to sharing this beautiful location with all its amenities with you. Feel free to call, email or text and I will be happy to go over features and local attractions.

Why Patrick Murphy chose Gulfport
There really are very few sites on the Coast so central to everything. Most of what you would want to do is within a short walk from the house. Great Restaurants, parks, marina, downtown, the beach, boat launches, golf courses, casinos, events at Jones Park, and next year the Aquarium are all within 2 miles of this property. However, once you get there, you may never want to leave. Whether you love to cook, take relaxing walks under the Oaks, stroll the beach, surf fish and grill out fresh, or just sit and relax on one of two very comfortable porches with your choice of view, Oaks or Ocean. Cruising Central is only a 1/2 mile away and many Cruising events take place within 1 mile in every direction during Cruising the Coast. December brings the South's largest light show to Jone's Park where you can walk from the house to a Christmas show synced to your favorite carols around a 1mile walking path. Take pictures with Santa or ride the Polar Express. It really is a great event for the family. During the Parade Season, you can pop over to New Orleans in about 45 minutes to an hour for the main events, or stay on the Coast and take in the local parades where you can avoid the crowds and catch a ton of stuff from the floats. Don't think it ends on Fat Tuesday either. In March you can don your green and attend one of several pub crawls and St. Paddy's parades. In the Spring festivals and concerts abound on the Coast and they continue through the Summer. There is no weekend on the calendar without something going on between Bay St. Louis and Ocean Springs. Each city looks to outdo its neighbor, and we benefit. I haven't even mentioned the many golf courses, casinos, arcades, jet-ski rentals, charter fishing, trips to the Islands, Kayaking, float trips, shrimp season, crawfish boils, and the oysters abound. Finally, there is no fireworks show you've seen that compares to sitting on a sandbar for the 4th of July and watching the beach light up for hours.
What makes this House unique
What really made this home special to us was the beautiful view from the back porch coupled with the unique detail of the interior. Brick floors, high ceilings, detailed woodwork framing every doorway and bright colors always made us feel like even though we were indoors, we were really just enjoying a beautiful day in some hidden French Quarter Courtyard with better climate control. The other big selling points for us were the large clawfoot soaking tub, and my wife was a big fan of the oversized vanity area. Even with a house full of family, we all felt very spaced out. It was very nice to have the upstairs separate mother-in-law apartment with a fully functional kitchen and living space to provide guests their very own mini-vacation while visiting. Since we've been renting the house we have had several guest tell us the apartment was an excellent space to put the kids so the adults could fully enjoy the main space without constant distraction. I refer to the neighborhood often in my description, but its not really the proximity to the beach. 2nd Street itself is really a special place all on its own. Every house is unique in its construction, and landscaping. Even on the hottest days, the large Oak trees that grow over the street provide enough shade for a pleasant walk, jog, or bike up and down the street. There is a playground with tennis court that is open to the public year round only a few blocks away, and it is only short walk further and you get your choice of Starbucks, Shaggy's, Salute Italian, The Chimney's, Beach Activity rental, access to Gulfport Harbor and Jone's Park. Soon to come will also be the Aquarium and much more as the City of Gulfport expands its tourist attractions around downtown and the 2nd Street area. We can't wait to move back, but in the mean time, we are glad you are getting to enjoy what we miss every day!

All three couples really enjoyed the roominess of the home and outdoor area.
Everything worked as should with the exception of a light or two.
We are looking forward to staying here again.
We loved the house, the location, and great host!
Gulf Coast fun
Property and was very clean enough room for all of us to enjoy time together rather it was sitting around the kitchen or sitting outside on the patio with a beach view ☕️💐 Would highly recommend!

Really enjoyed our stay. Loved the kitchen- cooked Shrimp and Grits, Bolonase pasta and jambalaya! Good food with a view!
This was the greatest location that we could’ve ever found. Plenty of room, great view & easy access to hwy. Would definitely recommend to whoever needs a relaxing vacation near the beach.
Dozens of great restaurants and casinos a short drive away.
