The Crows' Nest is a family home with a joyful past just waiting to offer fun, relaxation, and great memories to others. It is in a perfect location less than a half mile from the center of town, hiking trails, Kebo Valley Golf Course, and a path to the ocean. Enjoy a beautiful view of Cadillac Mt. from your front yard! Leave the car in the driveway and use the free Island Explorer shuttle bus to enjoy all areas in and around Acadia National Park and Mount Desert Island. A children's playground, wading pool and new YMCA are nearby, and a local farmer's market on Sunday morning is just steps away. This home has a queen bed and full bath downstairs, and 2 bedrooms and a full bath upstairs. It is warm and inviting for 6 guests.
The Crow's Nest is a neat well appointed house at the edge of down town Bar Harbor. It is the perfect distance to walk into town to catch the bus to Acadia National Park for climbing/hiking/cycling; or enjoy one of the many great restaurants. What really made our stay special was the warm welcome we got from the owner, Marge. She made sue we had everything we needed and was quick to offer additional suggestions of things to do. We plan to return in 2008
This place is right in Bar Harbor, just off the main street. It is quiet because it is a couple blocks from down town, but close enough we walked everywhere. The house is lovely, well kept and is completely furnished, especially the kitchen. Everything we needed was there. There was storage out back for our bikes and places to store our kayaks. The porch out back is in a garden setting and was an enjoyable place to sit and plan our days. Our host even provided some items for our granddaughter, making my daughters trip easier not having to bring the crib and other large items. Our host was lovely and provided lots of suggestions and advise whenever we asked. I will rent this house again when we go back, a week was not long enough time to spend in Bar Harbor and Acadia National Forest.
My family stayed for a week this summer just prior to the July 4th holiday. We usually camp on the island when we visit, but wanted to stay walking distance to downtown and have a full kitchen for the week. The house was perfect. We've rented houses several time before and this may be the cleanest yet. The location is great - a short walk to town but on a quiet side street. Marjorie the owner was very nice and responsive.
The Crow’s nest in Bar Harbor a great place to spend a vacation. The house is clean, comfortable, roomy, and in a great location. Marge was a great host. Most nights we walked to town for dinner, later at night we walked across the street for ice cream. I would love to stay there again.
What a great vacation and much of it thanks to this fantastic home! Located on the edge of Bar Harbor it is just a short walk to downtown, the harbor, bus stops, and Shore Path. No need to move your car unless you just want to drive. We did drive and explore Acadia National Park and other harbors and towns and it is also very easy to get out and about by car. The owner, Marge, could not have been more accommodating! Everything we needed was already in the home and it was very clean and comfortable. We enjoyed sitting on the deck both in the morning and the evening. I would highly recommend this home for your trip to Bar Harbor. You will not be disappointed!
We just got back from a great stay at Crow's Nest in Bar Harbor. The house was well set up for our group of 5 adults and 2 kids (we got special permission to fit one more). It's a cozy cottage with angled ceilings upstairs, a claw foot tub, and plenty of personality. The house was sparkling when we got there, and there were plenty of towels for all of us. Marge was helpful answering our questions about the house and where to go in town and on the island. Our 12-year-old daughter loved giving treats (also supplied) to the 2 friendly kitties that live next door.
We enjoyed cooking on the gas grill each night, sitting out on the small back porch/patio, and using the well-stocked kitchen (there was even a lobster pot). We had daily trips to Hannaford's - the local grocery store on Cottage Street, where they steamed lobsters for us. We also checked out several ice cream places, including the one right across the street, and the soft serve place by the Village green that served vanilla with fresh blueberry twist. And my husband and daughter had a couple of early morning breakfasts at Two Cats restaurant.
The house is an easy walk to town - either down Main Street or along the gorgeous Shore Path. It was a quick walk to the Village Green, where we could catch the bus into Acadia National Park (Marge provides brochures with bus schedules and park highlights). We tried driving one day and realized how much more convenient the buses are. As a result, we barely needed to use our cars.
We would highly recommend staying there - we just got home, and we are already talking about another visit!
