This is a true beach lover's paradise! Cliff Road overlooks the two most outstanding beaches on the North Shore: Good Harbor Beach and Long Beach, both of which can be reached from this home, simply by walking down the hill. It's one of the few roads that offers direct access to the beach, which means that there is no battling with heavy traffic or paying huge parking fees.
The main floor of the home is wood-paneled, wide-open, and overlooks the tributaries that feed the Atlantic Ocean- wait until you see the sunsets! The mornings in the landscaped backyard are just as glorious: you can sit out in the gazebo with your coffee and listen to the sound of the surf and an orchestra of songbirds. The backyard is also a perfect place to entertain after a long day of boating, swimming, fishing, or any other of the many activities that Gloucester offers.
The house ash two bedrooms and a full bathroom on the first floor and two bedrooms and a full bath on the third floor, with the second floor serving as the main living area. The set-up allows for privacy between different families or the older and younger generations.
If you're looking for a great home to entertain extended family or share with another family, look no further. This house was designed by a family with other families in mind: a great mix of functionality, beauty, and safety.
Please note: while the house is kid friendly, it is not baby-proof.
*An adjoining owner's unit (separate entrances) is used during the summer.*
A transplant to Massachusetts, I first came to Gloucester on a father/son fishing trip with the Yankee Fleet. In 2003, I had the opportunity to move here for a job, and - initially - I came here for the fishing, mountain biking, and technology, but I stayed because I met my wife. After more than ten years here, I still think this area is one of the greatest areas in the country for outdoor activities and recreation.

We had a great time! What a terrific location, short walk on private roads to the beach. Didn't have to worry about our little ones and crossing thatcher road. Close to downtown, shopping and a terrific bike ride to bearskin neck. Can't wait to come back
Everything about this house and the gardens, was fantastic. Cupboards were thoughtfully stocked, with enough of everything to prepare meals for an army. Laundry facilities right on the ground floor helped keep all the beach towels and suits, under control. Relaxing on the deck, under the shade of the beautiful wisteria was my favorite spot to enjoy my morning coffee. We look forward to our time there together as a family. Plenty of room for all four of our generations and friends to share meals, memories, board games, movies and great times at the beach. Russ and his wife definitely have the gift of hospitality.
This vacation house was very large and could accommodate the arrival and departure of many visiting family and friends. The three floors provided ample space for activity and rest. It was wonderful seeing everyone. Perfectly located at the top of the hill, not far from the beach, it was a nice relaxing walk down to the ocean, and even over to the small island when the tide was out. I hope to be able to do this again soon!
I loved the house. It was an easy walk to long beach and good harbor beach. The house was in great condition. Homeowners were great to work with.
What a great place, and wonderful location. We have 3 small children, and really enjoyed our relaxing stay in this beautiful house. We loved how close it was to the beach. The kids loved it, and so did we!
Had a great stay here with our extended family! The house is set-up so that the main living area is on the second floor, so the younger crew stayed upstairs and the older crew stayed downstairs (fewer stairs). We loved that you could walk to both Long Beach and Good Harbor, plus walking the private road to the ice cream stand at night was a special treat! The house had everything we needed: towels, pillows, cooking utensils, propane, etc. Very relaxing and lovely sunset views.
A warning: the house is perched on the top of the road to the left of Good Harbor Beach - amazingly beautiful walk to the beach, but the walk back uphill can be tough at the end of the day! We just had our younger family members walk up the hill, grab a car, and bring it down to load up all of the kids' equipment.
Aside from the usual beach activities, Gloucester (and especially the Good Harbor area) offer many opportunities for summer fun. Fishing abounds everywhere- the premiere wharf for deep-sea fishing is only a few blocks from the home, and there is also great striper fishing off of Salt Island (which can be reached from Good Harbor Beach via sandbars during low tide). If activity is your thing, there is great biking along the coastline or mountain biking on many natural trails. In addition, there are several stores that offer canoe and kayak rentals. The town of Gloucester hosts many small and unique shops, which can easily entertain even the most savvy shopper for days.
