|Minimum Stay||7 nights|
From the Bay side of the house you can see all the way beyond Lieutenant's Island, Great Island, and at night see the lights of Boston in the far distance. Our house is furnished for comfortable living and is suitable for families and couples. The Master Bedroom, on the top floor, has a deck in front and to the side. In the winter enjoy a Wood Fire in the Master Bedroom and see the extraordinary Cape Light from the many windows. The house has artwork and a homey feeling which enhances your time 'away from it all'. It is fully heated and fully air-conditioned so you can savor the delights of the Cape in the summer and in the winter months.
We encourage small family groups of seven or less, and provide baby equipment if it is needed. For the active visitors, there is a beach in front of the house, merely walk down our two-second path and you'll be there. Turn to the right and walk 15 minutes over a footbridge to the center of Wellfleet. For those who prefer lake swimming, the famous kettle ponds of Wellfleet are a real joy. You can even rent kayaks on Gull Pond, paddle to a sluiceway and end up in Higgins Pond which you'll have pretty much to yourself for swimming or paddling. It is possible to find the gap in the rushes to kayak into quiet Williams Pond from Higgins. Total delight.
Perfect for a couple as a Get-Away Romantic spot.
Perfect for mulit-generaltional families to share, a family with teens, or younger children.
Mature couples will find the house suits their wish for comfort, cleanliness and ease of living.
Local tradesmen say, 'Wow, you have the best location in Wellfleet.' The views are breath-taking.

I'm Kathy and my husband Matt and I are the new owners of Fairwinds after renting from Toni and David for many years - we're still pinching ourselves! If you're previous renters, know that Toni wishes you well with many happy returns to Wellfleet!
We live in Connecticut much of the year so will be using the house ourselves and sharing it with all of you too. We are lucky enough to have kept many of the house's distinctive works of art and are adding to it from our travels around and beyond the Cape. It will continue to be furnished and maintained to the highest standards, clean and comfortable for families with kids while still being elegant and relaxing for adults.
Wellfleet is one of our family's favorite places and we hope it will be your's too!
Kathy purchased this house in 2016
It was love at first sight when we walked in the door and saw the view and when we said "if you ever decide to sell, please tell us" we never expected it to actually happen...but here we are! If you've been to Wellfleet before, you know how unique it is and if you're a new visitor, you're in for a treat. The restaurants and art galleries are welcoming and wonderful. There's fine dining for adults and excellent casual choices for families who come right from the beach. The Library is a perfect place to go when it's raining and has programs for kids and a full schedule of lectures for adults. The town is ideally situated to take advantage of the wonders of the Cape. You can find 3 different types of swimming areas, the famous fresh-water Kettle Ponds, like Gull Pond, which are really sizable lakes, the Cape Cod Bay beach in front of our house, and all the ocean beaches which are a 5 minute drive away. The Cape Cod Bike Trail is nearby and you can walk to Town from the house along the shore, crossing the lovely wooden footbridge called Uncle Tim's Bridge. And don't miss the Wellfleet drive-in just down the road, one of the only ones left in the country!
Our house has a location which is extraordinary. It sits on a low bluff, overlooking Cape Cod Bay, Wellfleet Inner and Outer Harbors, Indian Neck, Great Island and Lieutenant's Island, so sunsets are not to be missed. We face due West and cocktails and oysters on the deck at sunset are our favorite time. We can swim, sail and kayak right in front of our house, but if you like fresh water, the Wellfleet Ponds are gorgeous. They are really fresh-water lakes, and some, five minutes from the house, are quite large lakes. And there's the ocean, the National Seashore, the Audobon Society, the Theater known as W.H.A.T. We love the local fish and shellfish, and being with family who rent other houses within a minute or two of us.
Our house is ideal for six or seven people, and even has a spot for a person who can't handle stairs.
Many ask if we have wifi. Yes, we do. We also have three-zone heating, and summer air conditioning.
There is an outdoor shower for after the beach, and access through the lower level where towels and bathing suits can be hung.
For winter renters we have two functioning fireplaces and provide firewood for our guests. A Blue House Book is crammed with suggestions of places to eat, things to do and useful services. We keep it up-to-date and update our favorites each time we are there.
Fairwinds is a perfect spot for a family with young kids seeking a quieter time on the Cape (which is exactly what we wanted). The view is spectacular - my son loved watching the boats in the harbor from the living room window (and we loved watching the sunsets after he had gone to bed!) We loved being able to walk right down to the beach to see crabs, build sandcastles, and swim. The house itself is lovely without being too fancy for messy toddlers, and has every convenience imaginable. The new owners were great to work with - their communications before our stay were clear and they checked in to make sure we had everything we needed. We hope to go back again!
This was a house that feels much more like a private home than a rental. Beautiful views abound - you are never missing anything in this house. The owners were fabulous and attentive. We will be back for more!
This house was the perfect setting for a relaxing and fun vacation for myself, my wife, and three young kids. The house itself is well appointed with stunning views of Wellfleet harbor. Sunsets from the porch were beautiful; I could sit for hours watching the boats come in! Even better the tidal sandy beach just steps below was perfect for exploring and for the little ones to take a dip in the calm bay waters. Plus we were just a short walk into town over Uncle Tim's Bridge. The house was also a great launching point for exploring the National Seashore and Provincetown.
All in all, it was perfect week. All three kids asked if we could come back next year....
Vacation rentals are all about surprises, both good and bad as we all know. This property has great owners and all the surprises were the good kinds. If you love the Cape, you will love this property. Just bring some good reading and your walking shoes or a bike and you will be very happy sending a week or two here.
The fun and galleries of Provincetown are only 20 minutes away. This location has it all. You can bird watch, take the Whale Watching Cruise, walk in the Audubon Society Nature area, and eat really well in Wellfleet, Orleans and Provincetown. Ride the Cape Cod BikeTrail, watch amazing sunsets from your deck or from Race Point, rent kayaks and launch in front of the house. Swim in the fresh water ponds (lakes, really), there is so much to do for adults and for families. And you can walk to Town from the house!
Wellfleet has a cinema, a drive-in (yes, really!) miniature golf, wonderful shops for pottery, crafts, clothing, fresh fish and produce, weekly square dancing on the Pier, a very sweet 4th of July parade, and, of course, OYSTER FEST in October. Our favorite food: Wellfleet Oysters. Yum!
