Beachfront 2BR/2BA sleeps 6: Our guests usually re-book so they can return year after year to the Beach House. Only occasionally do high season summer weeks become available for new guests. Now's your chance to get in on renting one or two weeks in August so now is a great time to set yourself up for a fabulous vacation.
Many of us believe the 'bumper' seasons in early summer and fall are the best times to visit the Cape. The weather is warm, everything is open, and the days long but there are fewer people and cars. You will feel instantly at home in our beach house. It sits on a lovely 1 acre corner lot, waterfront on Indian Neck beach in the outer Wellfleet Harbor. The backyard features beach access, fabulous swimming, boating and amazing sunsets. Inside has an open airy design with huge master bedroom with private deck, second bedroom sleeps 2 and additional space that can accommodate guests. Comforts include 1+1/2 baths, gas fireplace, ceiling fans, fully equipped kitchen, laundry, high speed cable & Internet, VCR, DVD, stereo, outside shower. Wellfleet is full of wonderful art galleries, restaurants and shopping.
Folks may wonder why there are no comments yet in our guestbook. The reason is because our home is all new. We bought this georgeous 1/2 acre of land on Indian Neck beach in winter 2003. At the time there was only a very small basic cottage. As we worked on our plans, still we rented, through local brokers and got $2000-2200 a week. A few of those guests have found us on there own and will be returning this summer to our expanded and newly renovated house. I recieved a call two days ago from a woman who had been considering taking a week in July, but was concerned about the rental price being higher than she had expected to pay. She and her husband coincidentally were visiting the Cape and drove by the property last weekend. She was so impressed and excited when she cal to say, "Is the week still available. Please reserveit for us. The house looks great!" So while we have yet to had comments from all of the new rentors we hope to hear from this summer, we are thrilled with the improvements to the Beach House and hope those visiting this year will have fantastic vacations.
This wonderful beach house is so perfect for our Wellfleet stay that we have returned the past 8 years and have already booked next summer. The house is lovely, the location is private, yet close to both Wellfleet center and harbor, and the water views (and sunsets) are unmatched. Lor (the owner) is great and always helpful! This house has worked for us since we first arrived when our son was 3 years old (steps from the beach) and continues to deliver even more options (kayaking) as he is now 11. Simply well done.
Our stay at the beach house was simply fantastic. The home is lovely, well-kept, well-outfitted with kitchen supplies, and could not be more perfectly located in terms of beach access and water views! My children enjoyed a week of endless beach simply running back up to the house for snacks and lunch. The house is surprisingly spacious, and plenty of room to spread out. My family thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to return!
This place is outstanding.
First of all, the stuff you want to know:
The description is 100% accurate - albeit missing nice amenities like Bose Audio in the master bedroom and a VERY well stocked kitchen (we were sure to leave it a little more stocked than we found it, I suggest you do the same - "Pay it forward" and all)...
The house was cleaned with military precision - not a streak on the windows or a grain of sand to be found on the floors (an impressive feat when your house is surrounded by fluffy tan sand).
The owner Laurie was responsive and answered all our questions (she even left fresh flowers on the kitchen bar).
The kitchen itself was fantastic - I'm an avid cook and easily found everything I needed to whip together gourmet meals in a jiffy-
The Kayaks under the house were a welcome extra bonus - the calm waters of the Bay are ideal for noodling around and exploring the coastline.
Now - onto the peace and quiet:
I'm a proud father of a three year old noise machine, and we entertained our friends for the week who have a two children, a toddler and a baby- so I was expecting a noisy week...
However - the beaches did a lot to tire the kids out -
We enjoyed sand castle building, sundry finding (oyster shells abound alongside large, gorgeous scallop shells, hermit crabs, horseshoe crabs, and all manner of cool sea critters)...
A steady sea breeze kept our kites soaring, and it was even warm enough (in April mind you) for a swim!
Needless to say, the kids slept soundly in the comfy beds while we grown ups enjoyed nighttime snacks of slow cooked pulled pork, wine and cheese plates, Oysters Rockefeller and some incredible Gin & Tonics with local tonic water found at the Wellfleet Market (Which is a great place to find fresh local seafood and grass fed beef by the way).
At night, after the mind-boggling sunsets (seriously, two of the best I've ever seen) -the moon rose and a piercing silence set in...
I'm not sure if Wellfleet has natural noise dampening properties from all the jetties and dunes, or if it really was actually that quiet- but I could hear the waves at low tide just *barely* lapping the shoreline over 80 feet away...
And NOTHING else.
Not a car, not a far off voice, not even the buzz of a nighttime insect.
I can't think of anything quite like a mild evening in that amazing back yard... gazing out on the bay and sipping a cocktail as the kids get their rest.
Perfection... Enjoy it.
Our stay in this home is memorable for numerous reasons. Firstly, the talent of the owner to provide beautiful views of the sea from every angle indoors. The large and numerous windows allow you to observe the environment unimpeded. Secondly, the listing description was completely accurate. The graciousness and generosity of the owner was evident from our first contact, and, continued to be a great pleasure. Our two Boston Terriers came with us and we all had the glory of this spacious home and tended garden with daily walks in the charming neighborhood. Reading, walking, observing the bird life and the sea creatures, and, cooking in the wonderful kitchen was delight pure. As visual artists, the area is inspiring for its coloration in plant life. We plan to return and await our time with great anticipation.
My family and I have vacationed at this beautiful bayfront Beach House for three or four Summers now and will be returning again next Summer. To say that we absolutely love our time at the Beach House is an understatment. It is something we look so forward to every year. It has been a great spot for my family of five as it has something for everyone. It is quiet, the views are to die for, it's a great place to walk or bike, my kids fish off the jetties, and you are only a short drive to the quaint center of town and ocean beaches. Additionally, you are only 20 -25 minutes from Provincetown. The location is ideal, the house is always pristine, and the owner is a dream to work with. I would wholeheartedly recommend this to anyone - you will not be disappointed!
August 2010 was our first time staying, but hopefully not our last!
The owner is a pleasure to work with, and is very helpful answering questions. This house is as clean, bright, and spacious as the pictures show it to be. You never know with pics, but these are 100% accurate. There is one full bath and one half bath that are just fine, though maybe not as bright and new looking as the rest of the house. But no problems at all.
You walk down your own stone steps to the beach. At low tide there is tons of beach, at high tide you walk 8 steps to the right to still be on the sand. The water comes right up to your stone steps so you can dangle your feet in it.
Good things to know, that we didn't know:
The ocean-side AMAZING (though more populated) beaches are just a short drive away. We visited Cahoon Hollow Beach - can't believe this beach exists in Massachusetts! Chatham is about a 30 minute drive and Ptown is a little shorter than that.
Downtown Wellfleet is a short drive away, and has restaurants, some shops - but not too many, a quaint market to buy groceries and some already-prepared food in, and a fish market that has some of the freshest fish I've ever tasted. Buying food to cook was actually our favorite way to go - though we visited some amazing restaurants too. Next time I wouldn't pack any food and just buy it all there, much easier and readily available.
I never did see the beach chairs, so I'm very glad we brought our own.
There was some paper towels, napkins, toilet paper, dish & laundry detergent, kitchen condiments, etc stocked. The deal with these are if you finish something, buy some in town and replace what you used - not leaving the next person with none. So everyone shares the burden, and nobody has the whole burden. I think this is a GREAT concept, so long as people follow it, which it appears they do! I wish I had know this, so I wouldn't have packed it all!
Have beach chairs stocked there, maybe 4-6.
Provide hand towels for the two bathrooms, bath and beach towels, and sheets for the beds.
It is so very hard to pack these bulky things, especially when trying to remember everything else one needs. It would really add so much to the value of the stay...
Overall this place is superb, the location is perfect, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone! You'll be VERY happy with your choice!
From clam digging, to windsurfing the beach life may relax you so much you don't want to go anywhere else, but Wellfleet is full of wonderful art galleries, restaurants and shopping. Cape Cod National Seashore, bike ways, Great Island and the Audubon Society offer the best in natural outdoor activity. Just a short drive will take you to the fun and funky Provincetown, or to golf courses, whale watches, a huge flea market and one of the last remaining drive-in movie theaters.
Other Activities: galleries, golf, National Seashore, Audobon
