Island Falls Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Cabin, 1 Bedroom + Loft, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-5)

Pleasant Pond is a crystal clear 1,832-acre lake. Our log cabin is a dream come true for us. The location offers a cottage atmosphere, filled with as much activity as you want to do. The interior is a spacious chalet style offering, cathedral ceiling and a 13ft. stone fireplace (*see Note). The main floor contains a large living area and dinning room, which is just off the completely furnished kitchen. The master bedroom is adjacent to the bathroom. While the large inviting loft will easily sleep four adults. Off the main living area is the large deck, which overlooks the lake. The walk-in basement has a washer, dryer and more importantly fishing poles, set of golf clubs and swimming rafts. We offer a new d-o-c-k from which you can fish or swim. On or by the dock take our Indian Main c-a-n-o-e or Old Town k-a-y-a-k and explore the lake. Across the lake, you can rent a motor boat for the day or week. Fifteen minutes away enjoy a challenging and fun g-o-l-f course. In the evening, travel the back roads for moose watching, we saw one on the road to the camp. Dinnertime, try the gas g-r-i-l-l out on the deck. If you just want to stick around the camp, use the f-i-r-e p-i-t by the lake and listen to the loons. Another interest might be to watch one of our over 120 m-o-v-i-e-s and chill. Next day one could spend days at Baxter State Park (1hr), or try white water rafting (1hr). We are looking for weekly or monthly visitors

Therefore, if you want to get away from the hustle and clear your lungs our camp is for you and yours. We could can go on and on about our camp, but if you would like to know more or if you have questions give us a call and we will gladly try to answer your questions. If we do not pick up just leave a message and we will get right back to you.

At this time we aren't renting in the winter - as our road isn't plowed.

We have wi-fi and many guest use Hulu or F.r.e.e--N.e.t.f.l.i.x which is a website offering streaming video of TV shows and movies from NBC, Fox, ABC, and many other networks and studios.

*Note - Because of Insurance regulations - our fireplace is not to be used. However the fire pit by the lake is fine to use. If question e-mail or call the owners.

For 2017 we added a Tandem Kayak, 2014 we bought a new single Kayak and new Mattress.

Guestbook comments from the manager

THIS IS FROM A DIFFERENT SITE: THUS NO STARS!!

Our family of two parents and two grown children had a very relaxing week at Frank & Bonnie's Camp. You can be confident that the photos and description on this site accurately reflect the property and location. The property was more private than we expected, with neighbors on one side not present and neighbors on the other side well-shielded. Kayak and Canoe were put to good use - the lake is so peaceful in the morning. Katahdin is a great (full) day hike if you want to be challenged. If you want to relax, the camp's private dock is a great place to spend a day reading a book or taking a nap. Hummingbirds, chipmunks and birds will keep you entertained on the front porch. Great balance of sunshine and shade on warm days (if you are lucky to pick those warm weeks in Northern Maine). And we finally had our first 'up-close' encounter with a Moose (on the road leading to the camp) after many summers in Maine. If you can't allow yourself to cut the cord to civilization, phone service is spotty, but the camp's wifi worked great (and you can always unplug the router if you want an excuse!). It took some persistence to confirm arrangements, but everything worked out as promised. Pleasant Pond is a great destination and this property is one of the best locations on the lake for peace, beauty and relaxation. I am happy to recommend the camp and will be glad to stay again someday. Thank you Bonnie and Frank!

Pleasant Lake

  • 5 of 5

Our week on the lake was everything we wanted and more. The cabin was absolutely perfect and had everything we needed. We used the kayak and canoe daily for trips around the lake with our six year old son, and saw several Loons and Eagles on our adventures. Most evenings, I kayaked to the middle of the lake to watch the sunset and each time was breathtaking. We spent most evenings down near the fire and were lucky to have three nights with so many shooting stars, we lost count. Just the other day, my son said 'lets close our eyes and pretend we are out watching the sky on the lake again'. We did have one rainy day, but with all the movies and games available in the cabin, we definitely were not bored. We also played a round of golf at the local golf club and drove over to Baxter State Park on our last full day to hike a trail recommended in one of the trail books on the book shelf. It did not disappoint. Overall, the cabin was the perfect location for reconnecting as a family away from all the normal daily distractions. Thank you very much for opening your home to us!

Owner's Response: Well thanks for a great review, as we always say we would like guest to enjoy the camp as we do. When I was very young we would go to a cabin every year with my parents, I said some day I would love to have my own cabin and my wife shares my dream - it took many many years - and now finally we are blessed with this camp. Every year we try to improve it, we get many suggestions from the guest and do what we can to make it a better place. Hope someday you can come back and again thanks for a great review. Frank/Bonnie V.

Beautiful!

  • 5 of 5

I stayed there with my family, with two kids, age 2 and 5. The cottage is beautiful. Well decorated, well appointment, and very clean. The road to get there was a bit tricky, good thing we had a four wheel drive. The place is well secluded. It was nice that we had internet and good TV. Felt like I was in this very secluded place with all the amenities of hotel. The walk to water is little long, as you can see in the picture. Water was clear. And the ramp was fun to jump off from. THere is also tons of movies that you can watch. Not too many for little kids. Also the rail off the loft is a little low for my two year old, but older kids it should be fine.

Owner's Response: Thanks for a nice write up, next year (2015) we hope to provide Netflix, for guest to watch what they want. Sorry about the rail up in the loft - we don’t let our small grandchildren up there just for that railing issue. Frank/Bonnie V.

Rustic Tranquility

  • 5 of 5

Frank and Bonnie's Lake Pleasant home is a rustic haven with all the modern amenities needed to make for a relaxing vacation in a secluded spot deep in the woods of Maine. The large kitchen, comfortable living area, and deck with birds-eye view of the water all combine to provide a sense of tranquillity and being away from it all.

Prepare to be charmed by a long drive down a winding unpaved road with breathtaking views only to be matched by the beauty that you'll find at the end of the road where Frank and Bonnie's cabin awaits. Be sure to bring all your food and supplies with you upon arrival as you will not want to leave this little oasis. If you're looking for the company of humming birds, chipmunks, loons, woodchucks, and the like, this is the spot for you.

With a spring-fed crystal-clear lake at the foot of the property and a kayak and canoe to explore, campfires by the water, and great views of Birch Point's weekend fireworks, the unique experience of enjoying this home cannot be compared. Trekking up and down the 60+ stairs between the lake and the house is a terrific workout and you'll end your vacation with stronger legs then ever.

Frank and Bonnie have thought of everything to make visitors feel at home while their agent, Alison, is terrific at managing the property. Thanks so much for allowing us to rent your beautiful home!

Owner's Response: WOW!! We couldn’t have said it any better about our camp. We only hoped that you and yours would have seen some deer or moose on the road to the camp - as we did. In fact one morning Bonnie looked out the kitchen window and a moose was looking back at her. Again thanks for a masterful write up and we hope to see you again!!! Frank/Bonnie V.

We had a wonderful week here. The pictures were very accurate. The cottage was very clean and cozy. We enjoyed using the kayak and canoe. Our son caught a bass using the fishing gear that was provided. Thank you for sharing your home with us.

Owner's Response: Thanks much for a great review - it helps with the bookings; but more importantly it gives us a barometer of how we are doing in making our camp a great place to visit. As we always say we want our guest to enjoy the camp as we do. Hope to see you back!!! Frank/Bonnie

Great vacation

  • 5 of 5

We had a great week at Pleasant Pond. The cabin was just as described and very well stocked. It had a wonderful fireplace, games, etc, and was very clean and spacious. We spent a lot of time on the deck in the adirondack chairs, just watching the clouds go by! Pleasant Pond is beautiful. The water is crystal clear and we saw a bald eagle on one of the islands and some sort of mink along the shoreline heading home with her dinner. We took the kayak or the canoe out everyday. Thanks for a wonderful vacation!

We have found a lot of guest like to - Mushroom hunt; which is a sport — one in which the mushrooms may actually have a chance of “winning” if the person eating does a poor job of species identification - so be careful.
