The Piaggione of Serravalle, at a first glance, appears as a gem naturally cast on the highest ridges of the Chianti hills of Central Tuscany, and as a jewel it shines with its authentic flavors, ancient traditions and silent stillness.
Shaded and enclosed by oak woods and shrouded by the greenness of its olive trees and vineyards, it mingles within the horizons of the grandeur of the Tuscan countryside that is still genuine and remarkably unspoilt. The structure of Piaggione consists of two spacious apartments, one holds four, the other, three bedrooms and a separate two bedroom cottage. Among these, the Loggia, which houses a wellness center embellished by an exotic touch. On the top floor a spa tub and an infrared sauna and, accessing via a staircase, you will approach a somewhat hidden room used for massages and turkish baths on the bottom floor.

Camilla is a licensed tour guide that has been operating for over thirty in Siena and its province. Together with her husband Alberto, at her mothers death, despite the hard times, she decided to roll up her sleeves and take control of the project, proving not only to be fit for the task but demonstrating a strong character suitable for the role. She undertook challenging decisions, always dictated by a spirit of loving-kindness and far-sighted choices that rewarded her over the years and that culminated in this wonderful masterpiece. Camilla is fluent in English, French and German and her vast knowledge of local history and art of the area, together with her fascinating savoir faire, guarantee unforgettable tours and excursions to explore Siena and its treasures. Her passion for the authentic taste of local cuisine, is high-flown in her first-class preparation of typical dishes that she cooks and serves in unforgettable dinners accompanied by Chianti wines of her own production in front of somewhat a fairy tale landscape.

Amazing Tuscan Holiday!
We stayed in the Main House from May 6 - May 13 (7 bedrooms, 4 baths). We can't imagine a better home base for our Tuscan holiday. Alberto and Camilla were excellent and accommodating hosts from the time we booked until our departure. We were a group of 10 - 6 adults and 4 children. The house was clean and eclectic - and was stocked with everything we needed (including very nice "pack-n-plays" for the two year olds in our group). The view from the upper terrace was absolutely amazing and we spent much of our time there relaxing and enjoying the view of the Tuscan hills. We had arranged the welcome dinner our first night and it was served by Alberto and Camilla - this was one of our best meals in Tuscany - with the highlight being the wild boar pasta (delicious!). We also enjoyed the pizza night prepared in the outdoor wood burning pizza oven. Every pizza that came out was better than the last and ended with a Nutella pizza that was a huge hit with the kids. Both meals included Prosecco and Alberto's Chianti. This is a beautiful region of Tuscany, but more rugged than areas of south of Siena where more rolling hills are the norm. You will often find yourself on gravel roads, but once you embrace this, you come to realize that this is the place to be for a more "authentic" Tuscan experience. Another of our best meals was right down the hill in the town of Vagliagli - La Taverna. While we did day trips to Siena, Florence and San Gimignano, our best days were when we stayed closer to "home" and visited Radda in Chianti and Castellina in Chianti. This was such an enjoyable week and we already miss our "house" in Chianti.
For other travelers out there - a few tips or answers to questions we had - use GPS - yes, the house is at the end of a long, gravel road down a hill; there is a European-style wash machine (use YouTube videos to figure out how to operate if you are unfamiliar); plumbing is different - you can't use the shower and tub or wash machine at the same time and expect hot water - this is part of the charm; as with most pools in Europe, they are not heated, so May is a bit chilly for a swim; the home is well equipped with cooking utensils, pots and pans, dishes, wine glasses, etc. There is an American-style coffee maker, but we preferred to use the stovetop Moka pot. There was coffee and sugar in the house, as well as ample spices. We found the best grocery store was the large Coop in Siena, just outside of the city (no gravel road required). Enjoy!
Camilla and Alberto were the perfect hosts
Camilla and Alberto were the perfect hosts. The villa was just as the pictures showed and accommodated 10 adults easily. And after a long day of travel to get there, the hot tub was wonderful. Nestled in a working vineyard along a hilltop the views were breathtaking every time we looked out the window or stood on one of the many porches. Alberto is quite the winemaker and his Chanti Classico rivals anything we tasted either dining out or at the nearby wineries. We had a couple renewing their wedding vows with us and to celebrate we had Alberto cook us pizzas! They were so good and as long as we ate, he kept making them. It was so good we later asked for the Tuscany Dinner which was two kinds of pasta and Florentine Steak. Delicious. If I had to do it all over again, I would have Alberto and Camilla cook for us every night, for their food was better than any we could find at any restaurant. We also had rental car trouble and Alberto handled it while we were away in Florence for the day. So nice to feel like a large Italian Family. Definitely will return and encourage you to visit soon!
Stunning views and amazing hosts, a truly Tuscan f
A group of 17 of us rented out the entire place for 8 days. We had the best time exploring Chianti and Tuscany from Alberto and Camilla's wonderful villa!
Between the all the space in the main house and the Hunting lodge, we never felt like we didn't have enough space. Both patios provided plenty of space to sit and amazing views. There are plenty of bathrooms for a large group and plenty of space to sit down for dinners and meals.
The kitchens are fully stocked with what you need to cook, but come prepared with groceries unless you have a car. The closest town is a good 20 minute walk and there is hardly anything in there. If you rent a driver and bus, please note that getting down to the house is bumpy and steep, but possible. Do all of your shopping when you are visiting other towns and be prepared to cook dinners or have them cook dinners, the are no restaurants within in short walking distance.
I would highly recommend the pizza by Alberto and any dinners by both of them. Everything they made was pure Tuscan heaven and memorable. Come hungry, they out due themselves. I would also recommend dinner at Dievole, a winery very close to them for one evening.
Alberto and Camilla will make you feel so welcome and will make this trip a once in a lifetime experience. Camilla is a terrific guide and I would highly recommend booking her for a full day visit to Siena (a magical city). She also took us to Pienza and Montalcino, she is very knowledgeable and will provide an amazing guided tour.
I highly recommend this location and house! The house itself is very comfortable, but slightly rustic. If you are looking for something modern or new, you will not find it here. The beds are comfortable, rooms are clean, and the space is great.
I hope you can visit this part of Chianti/Tuscany!
We had the MOST fantastic two week
We had the MOST fantastic two week stay with Camilla and Alberto! The main house (we rented both apartments which is ideal for groups and big families), furnishings, huge pool, custom hot tub with water fall, grounds, patios & decks, spa, ping pong table, bocci court, hammock, and sculpture FAR exceeded our expectations. Not only was the airbnb description accurate, the property was even more spectacular than the photos could show. The mix of antique charm with super modern amenities made it the perfect place to stay! Its hill top location (with breathtaking views!), quick drive to Siena and very close proximity to the quaint villages of Castellina and Vagliali (for top ranked restaurants) is, in our opinion, the finest and most beautiful location in all of Tuscany. In addition, we loved hanging out with their geese, cats and dog. Alberto and Camilla were such generous and welcoming hosts! We took a family clay class with Alberto, who is a world-renowned sculptor, enjoyed amazing wine and olive oil that they make themselves, and one day, Alberto took us to Siena to see the preparations for the Palio, not as paying tourists, but as new friends. On our last day of our two week stay, Camilla and Alberto invited us to lunch in their home as a send off. Next door is an equestrian farm, where our daughter took a (very reasonably priced!) lesson and they served us antipasto and their own wine as we watched her ride with the backdrop of Tuscany and Siena behind her. In addition, wineries, including the famous Dievole, are everywhere. We can't say enough good things about our experience and hosts. We consider Camilla and Alberto friends and are already planning for a return visit. If you have the chance to rent one of their apartments, think no further. This place is magical! ”
A recommander.
Easter in Tuscany
This stay was the highlight of our 2 week trip to Italy. We couldn't have been more pleased with the property and our host! We stayed in the main house, using both stories for our large family and friends. It was perfect. Lots of places for folks to relax, clean and very well maintained rooms. Alberto and Camilla were so welcoming and gave a lot of their time to our questions. Their wine and olive oil is the best we have tasted and made all of our meals there perfect. We took advantage of their cooking for a welcome meal and the pizza party and both were terrific - enjoyed by all. We were about 20 minutes outside of Siena and an easy day trip drive to San Gimignano, Pienza. The views were spectacular and the quiet so calming. We can't wait to plan a trip back.
Thank you for your wonderful review, we are happy when a guest is satisfied with his living room and we hope to always have people like yourselves.
website Chianti.it propose for you special theme and custom-made holiday, so to plan out your unique holiday in the Chianti region. Special events, art, good food, wellness, fun and the typical warm Tuscan hospitality: let start to go exploring Tuscan beauties. Once at Piaggione you will find a bronze sculpture that marks a line theimmaginary border from everyday life to the new reality of our place. Thissculpture is 'Estia' which, as in the ancient Greek mythology, symbolizes the custody of the gate, securing a place in the house untouched, announcingguests the safety, welfare, well-being that goes through self-knowledge. How can we get in deep communication with our inner life when everyday life has deprived us of that ability to listen? Here's a good reason to come to Piaggione The five sculptural images that are found in outdoor tell you what this place has to offer: the chance to rediscover yourself through all the senses. The housing of the place depicted by Estia reassures our inner calling for it to bedefended by a daily increasingly invasive and not very responsive to ourauthentic needs. If we place ourselves in listening to ourselves we will recoverour sensory dimension, we strip off the superfluous and we are in a position to be attuned to the world around us. A magic circle that connects the self with the other and with the entire universe. Crossing the threshold we meet the five sculptures that symbolize, in turn, the senses, Taste, Smell, Touch, Hearing , Sight. They are there to remind us gradually, the value of the step by step tocommunicate with ourselves. So one at a time to recognize that we discover our essence of men and women of nowadays lacks a sensory snapshot spontaneity.
