Castelnuovo Berardenga Farmhouse Rental Photos and Description

The Piaggione of Serravalle, at a first glance, appears as a gem naturally cast on the highest ridges of the Chianti hills of Central Tuscany, and as a jewel it shines with its authentic flavors, ancient traditions and silent stillness.

Shaded and enclosed by oak woods and shrouded by the greenness of its olive trees and vineyards, it mingles within the horizons of the grandeur of the Tuscan countryside that is still genuine and remarkably unspoilt.

The structure of Piaggione consists of three spacious apartments: La Nostra, the principal appartment wich holds 6/8 people; the Belvedere, located on the second floor of the Villa, holds 6 people; the Hunting Lodge, a separated cottage, holds comfortably 4 people.

Among the Villa there is the Loggia, which houses a wellness center embellished by an exotic touch. On the top floor a spa tub and an infrared sauna and, accessing via a staircase, you will approach a somewhat hidden room used for massages and turkish baths on the bottom floor.

You can let yourself go under shoothing jets of hot water or to the 37 ° C of the indoor hot tub. In alternative, you can be enveloped by the warm therapeutic infrared sauna, until it reaches the adjustable temperatures up to 65 ° C. In between sessions, you can relax on our ergonomic lounge chairs, underneath the beautiful orchids and tropical plants. Descending the stone steps from La Loggia you will access the hammam area, inspired by the most renowned spas of the Etruscans and the Romans and a room entirely dedicated to the art of massage, with a comfortable shower and the glittering mosaics of the Turkish bath. The steam bath together with the chromotherapy and aromatherapy, as well as being beneficial to the skin and respiratory system, contributes to the proper relaxation of the mind and the body.

La Loggia del Piaggione has a very unique characteristic: it's a spa area that we let upon request so that you can enjoy it privately with friends or family.

We offer the following treatments:

Hot tub with Jacuzzi 36/37 ° C: Being within the panoramic Loggia, it's always available even with cooler outside temperatures or at night-time: you will be immersed in nature and protected by the large panoramic windows and can be used comfortably by four people.

Infrared Sauna: Very beneficial for your body, but without the side effects of a traditional sauna, the operating temperature ranges from 45 to 60 °C and can be used by everyone.

Turkish Bath: The turkish bath, is a steam bath at 35-38 °C. The ambience decorated with mosaics is equipped with all comforts, a chromotherapy light, a small fountain to refresh your wrists and your face and a hand shower to cool the lower limbs. Ten minutes are required for your skin and the respiratory tracts to gain great benefit, then, before repeating the session we recommend a warm

shower. During or after the treatment you can relax in the lodge or in the small garden reserved for wellness from where you can comfortably access the pool area outside.

Massage:

In the wellness area is located a comfortable lounge for massages that will favor your complete relax.

On appointment, a specialist will be at your disposal to provide you with a massage: ayurveda, relaxation, reflexology etc.

If you desire to take advantage of these treatments, we recommend contacting us before arrival.

On the outside you are welcomed by a splendid swimming pool that plunges down on the lush valleys and, between sprouts of fragrant shrubs, built in the rocks, a jacuzzi tub that is surmounted by a spurt of hot water. Small paths and stone steps cut into the gardens that slope down the valley, designing silent hidden nooks that make its way through the forests. In this enchanting setting, stand out the modern sculptures of famed artist Alberto Inglesi that will accompany your quaint countryside strolls and hikes. If your desire is to rediscover the spontaneousness of life, the Piaggione of Serravalle is the place to be, to relax and immerse yourself in the magnificence

of a Tuscan setting blessed by serenity and silence.

The Piaggione of Serravalle is a lively farm that is in constant action and that brings forth its daily activities that are carried out in order to achieve a balance of eco-friendly status that are , rational and respectful of the rules that prevail in nature and that characterizes its existence in every detail. Plants and animals, placed at the center of activities, have always been treated like human beings and therefore have the best care and attention to undergo the strictest quality controls that strive

for excellence as well as for superb genuineness. The seasonal cycle of activities, therefore, commence in spring with the most suitable positioning of the plants, sowing the seeds and the maintenance of gardens, vineyards and olive groves. During the summer we proceed mainly with the picking of fruits and vegetables and then we begin canning the food for the winter and start collecting the wood for the colder months. Autumn however, is the most busy period since we deal first with the grape harvest and later with the olive picking.

We also commence all the various processes for the production of wine and oil, the squeezing and the pressing and we also collect the wild fruits from our forests , traditionally considered to be one of the bases that characterize our local cuisine. During the winter, with the arrival of the frosts we end our labors but we also have to start preparing the land for the new year to come and we have

time to devote ourselves to more domestic chores. Of course we always have our farm animals to look after. The food processing is challenging and goes hand in hand with the local tradition, to sustain the authenticity of ancient flavors and discovering new ones, thus giving the opportunity to gourmet fanatics to acquire the most authentic recipes , the methods of cultivation and preservation.

The culinary skills of Camilla, joined with the hard labors of Alberto, will allow you to take advantage of the exquisite cold meats, salamis, bruschette and cheeses produced on the farm and we will be honored to prepare you memorable full course meals with traditional dishes, accompanied by Chianti DOC and DOP Extra Virgin Olive Oil; all obviously of our own produce and of course our products can be purchased directly on the farm. Camilla also offers her services as a professional tour guide, organizing trips and excursions all over Siena and its territory and enriching them with thorough descriptions and explanations. Albert, instead, offers his own experience and skills in the arts, by offering sculpture and painting classes. Among the various projects under construction, in the future Piaggione will be able to offer cooking classes as well as organizing educational strolls along the paths of the vegetable gardens. Also at a stones throw from Piaggione recently has been established a horseback riding center , with a full range of activities related to equestrian trekking through the ancient roads of the Chianti hills.

Love Siena area

  • 5 of 5

This is my third year, and I am returning next year. Love the family and the ambiance. The first year I rented it for a month and took my family. The second year we got to see them harvest the grapes. This year we met a wonderful family from Boston, and watched them create a lovely clay bowl and fruit with Alberto's guidance. This is a place to soak in the beauty of Tuscany.

A wonderful stay in stunning countryside

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in the Hunting Lodge in mid October for ten days. Alberto and Camilla and their family were wonderful hosts who were always very keen to make sure we had everything we needed and to make sure we had a great stay. We enjoyed our welcome pasta meal with Camilla and Alberto and later in the week the pitza party with Alberto's fabulous pizzas.

We found our accommodation very warm and comfortable and the wifi worked well. We didn't cook very much but the kitchen was well equipped and had some tea, coffee, salt and pepper. Eggs and vegetables as well as fabulous olive oil and Chianti are available for purchase and we also sampled Alberto's own Tuscan sausages.

We had almost dry weather but part of our stay but some days were dominated by north/easterly winds and we did not use the beautiful outdoor pool. We did enjoy a relaxing afternoon in the spa with exclusive use. It is possible to rent the jacuzzi only or the jacuzzi, sauna and steam room and also have a massage from Alberto(see website). It is necessary to book the spa in advance and there is direct access from the Nostra accommodation. If you are renting this house you can also book exclusive use of the spa for your weeks stay.

We explored the Chianti villages and took two day trips to Sienna which we thoroughly enjoyed especially the Duomo, piazza de Campo and Santa Marie della Scala. The cathedral was breathtaking with fabulous frescos and the Santa Marie museum was very interesting. It was a originally a convent set up to give rest to pilgrims but overtime it came to provide care for the sick, bread for the poor and a home for foundlings. The story of the convent is told in a series of beautiful frescoes with excellent explanations in English on a small screen. This is a museum not to be missed.

We loved our stay at Albero and Camilla's. We loved petting and stroking their lovely cats. We are keen to return to this little piece of heaven!

we couldn't have been more pleased

  • 5 of 5

was a bit wary in booking La Capanna at Il Piaggione for a week on my first trip to Italy, because I could not find any recent English language reviews. When I arrived with my partner, our jaws dropped at the beauty. It is on an east-facing hillside with views for kilometres over the Tuscan countryside. The bedroom windows open wide to the view and stream in the morning sun. There is a patio in the back with shade trees and exposure to the setting sun, and the swimming pool in front has a huge deck and lounge chairs which seem to hang in the air with the gorgeous view. Close up there are trees down into the valley - I was surprised how much of Tuscany is still forested. The kitchen is well equipped, everything worked, and the suite and the pool were spotless. The kitchen does have a few basics like salt, sugar, pepper. The suite has heating and air coooling, but we had want of neither in mid-May. At night, it is completely silent - no road or industrial noise at all - just an occasional dog bark in the far distance. In the day, it's a working hobby farm, with grapes, vegetables, olive trees, chickens, goats, a pig, and my favourites are the pair of white ducks who roam the grounds. During the day in May we heard cuckoos and lots of other songbirds. It's a working farming area, so we heard farm tractors but no other traffic. We really enjoyed the quiet here as a contrast to the crowds in Siena. There appear to be lots of small roads and trails in the area - even one that may go into Vagliagli, but we could not find a listing of them. That would be a great project for someone to wander around, talk to people, and find them. There are several ways in to Vagliagli, all of them unbearably scenic, but only the route from Siena (from the south) is completely on paved roads. This part of Chianti is criss-crossed with 'white roads' - gravel - in generally good condition when we were here. This is a good location between Florence, Siena, San Gimignano, and probably lots of other sights. The wireless Internet was hooked up just before we arrived, and worked great for us. The owners have a great attitude and really want to make it comfortable, without intruding. We really like them. I don't have much to compare La Capanna at Il Piaggione with, but we couldn't have been more pleased with the setting, the building, the amenities, or the management. If there wasn't so much m

Accueil très sympathique dans un cadre magnifique

  • 4 of 5

Fantastic place, the owners are welcoming and the house is spacious with everything there you need! There's a beautiful Spa as well and the outdoor pool is just as luxurious. We'll try to visit Il Piaggione definately again, since the combination of the great house and the lovely Chianti aerea is superb!

website Chianti.it propose for you special theme and custom-made holiday, so to plan out your unique holiday in the Chianti region.

Special events, art, good food, wellness, fun and the typical warm Tuscan hospitality: let start to go exploring Tuscan beauties.

Once at Piaggione you will find a bronze sculpture that marks a line theimmaginary  border from everyday life to the new reality of our place. Thissculpture is  'Estia' which, as in the ancient Greek mythology,  symbolizes the custody of the gate, securing a place in the house untouched, announcingguests the safety, welfare, well-being that goes through self-knowledge.

How can we get in deep communication with our inner life when everyday life has deprived us of that ability to listen?

Here's a good reason to come to Piaggione

The five sculptural images that are found in outdoor tell you what this place has to offer: the chance to rediscover yourself through all the senses.

The housing of the place depicted by Estia reassures our inner calling for it to bedefended by a daily increasingly invasive and not very responsive to ourauthentic needs. If we place ourselves in listening to ourselves we will recoverour sensory dimension, we strip off the superfluous and we are in a position to be attuned to the world around us. A magic circle that connects the self with the other and with the entire universe.

Crossing the threshold we meet the five sculptures that symbolize, in turn, the senses, Taste, Smell, Touch, Hearing , Sight. They are there to remind us gradually, the value of the step by step tocommunicate with ourselves. So one at a time to recognize that we discover our essence of men and women of nowadays lacks a sensory snapshot spontaneity.
