About Cathy Morgan

Dear Guests, myself and my family returned to Ireland in recent years having lived overseas ourselves for many years. We enjoyed many worldwide trips & travels over those years, and experienced firsthand the pro’s & con’s of hotels versus short stay apartments. Hotels can be great, but! we realised, how much we better enjoyed ourselves when we felt thoroughly ‘At Home’ on these travels. Putting all of this into good practice in our beautiful Galway & Dublin short-rental options, we are extremely conscious of always offering this pleasure to the weary traveller – a seriously welcoming home-from-home environment - for 3 nights only or 3+ leisurely weeks! Working hard on the things that count – including fresh, luxurious bed linens & duvets and beds fully made up, fridge freshly stocked with Useful Food Items, and our useful local guides - you can so quickly settle in and get going with the many wonderful activities, explorations and small adventures awaiting you on a visit to Ireland, including lively engagement with everyone you meet on your tips and tours...

Why Cathy Morgan chose Galway

Our deluxe short stay options are just 2 to 3 minutes away from the liveliest quarters of Town – and yet so peaceful and quiet for a great night’s sleep. The wider city is alive with visitors, restaurants, cafe-bars and many very unique & special traditional Irish pubs and live music - you will have made an excellent choice by staying with us on The Crescent.

Galway is a great town! - the capital city of Connacht is a bustling and superbly lively university city that sits at the end of Lough Corrib - Lake & River - as it wends its way to the Atlantic Ocean. Long a wonderful and busy merchant town with a serious maritime tradition and backdrop, Galway’s trading history can be seen in town canals, water breaks & salmon weirs, pier heads, and sea-side promenades and walkways, plus rich ancient woodlands that survive in precious pockets around the town. Our location on The Crescent is part of this older world of Galway going back to the early 1830’s - when trains ran to Clifden, and a tramline ran from Eyre Square via The Crescent and out to the seaside promenades of Salthill. The apartment is located in an elegant tall period house there of some 180 years standing, and we do everything we can to maintain the ambience of this lovely old period house accompanied by many beautiful and contemporary features of today.

What makes this apartment unique

- Beautiful environment to settle into quickly, beds all freshly made up; fridge stocked and generous Welcome Basket of groceries.

- excellent local shops & supermarket just 2 mins away;

- excellent shopping in lively town centre just 5 minutes away;

- many interesting walks through town and surrounding places;

- abundance of excellent Restaurants from the end of Sea Road - just 2 mins away!

- abundance of warm & inviting Irish pubs & live music from the end of Sea Road through to the two Dominick Streets, Quay Street and surrounding Latin Quarter - all just 2 to 3 minutes away!

- fabulous walks to Salthill Village and along seaside promenades;

- Abundance of wonderful trips & tours to book into;

- suberb Golf courses a short drive away: Galway Golf Links 5 mins; Barna GC 10 mins; Galway Bay 20 mins; Athenry Parkland 30mins; Ballinahinch 1 hour, etc.

Ideal Independent Lodging & Neighborhood Location

  • 5 of 5

My stay at the Silver Heron Apartment was truly wonderful and so relaxing. Everything I needed to know about the apartment from top to bottom was neatly organized in a Welcome binder—from how to use all appliances/heaters/electronics to suggestions for exploring the city. The apartment was stocked with various toiletries, a vase of fresh flowers, a big bowl of fruit, and a Welcome Basket of groceries. So thoughtful and inviting. I was there for 3-weeks and it was quite literally a home away from home. Spotless, comfortable, safe, & cozy, with every amenity at my fingertips. It’s also conveniently close (5-min walk) to restaurants, grocers, pharmacy, pubs, & live music venues. A 10-min walk to city centre. The property owners take great care in making sure this apartment has every modern convenience, is easy for you to maintain/navigate, and that you feel welcomed within it. A perfect stay.

Homey, very clean, residential but in walking distance to everything

  • 5 of 5

The apartment is lovely, with all the amenities you might need. Everyone was so kind, and the agency even left a basket of groceries and fresh flowers. A great place to come home to during your time in Galway, locates on the west side, towards Salthill. The center of town is about a 12 minute walk away, and navigating yourself is easy. I would definitely recommend!

One of the best flats we've ever rented

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely loved staying in Galway at this flat. We were greeted with a large basket of fresh fruit and another large basket of assorted crackers and cookies. There was milk, butter, eggs, sausages and bacon in the refrigerator, graciously stocked by the owner Cathy.

The kitchen had everything you needed to prepare any meal and this is rarely the case in the many flats we have rented over the last 25 years.

The flat itself was very clean, the bed comfortable and the kitchen and bath very up to date. It was great to have a parking spot behind the flat and off the street.

We were close to the center of town and walked there several times. Takes only about 10 minutes.

We had dinner one night at Oscars close by. It was just about the best seafood meal we've ever had. Did a takeaway pizza one night from a place 4 minutes away. Sorry, can't remember the name. But the owner is Italian as is most of his staff and the pizza was as good as the pizza we use to get in Milan when we lived there.

The owner, Cathy, is a delightful woman and we enjoyed talking to her immensely.

Recommend this flat? You bet. Don't hesitate if you are in Galway and I certainly would consider any of her other properties.

Great location for town and beach

  • 5 of 5

This property is exceptionally well situated being very close (less than 10 min walk) to the centre of Galway and a similar distance from the strand. The interior is very well kept and all of our requirements were met without any problems. The staff are very friendly (a big thank you to Cathy) and were on hand to assist if we ran into any bother or just needed advice concerning the locality. We loved it and look forward to returning.

Silver Heron - your home away from home in Galway

  • 5 of 5

A lovely little apartment, beautifully equipped, very comfortable and home-like. A great location, you can walk into the city or out to Salthill and a car space is available if you need one. Liz was very welcoming, providing a thoughtful basket of groceries to get us started, and information about Galway and the region - she even picked us up from the station the day we arrived! We'd definitely stay at Silver Heron again. Ross and Bev Homel.

Great Location

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in this most convenient apartment for a week and were more than pleased. The location is excellent: we could walk everywhere, never had to use the car, which we were able to conveniently park in the back lot. The bedroom was a good size, and while the kitchen is tiny, it was fully stocked and very efficient. We chose not to cook very much, but every appliance was available. The washer and dryer were great, and the laundry room even had a drying rack. Liz did not miss a trick in making this a great apartment for a lovely stay in Galway. She was very welcoming, had the fridge and fruit bowl well stocked for our arrival and was available for questions. We would stay here again without reservations.
