Spacious, charming and private 3-bedroom villa with lovely garden and large pool. Tastefully designed by renowned architect Charles Boccara, the villa has a beautiful exterior courtyard and dining area.
The villa is situated in a secure development (Les Jardins de Touhina) with 24-hour security, only 25 minutes from the centre of Marrakech. The development has 37 villas with Clubhouse and Spa and mature communal gardens and walkways. Unusual for Marrakech, the villa offers complete privacy and is not overlooked.
The villa has 3 spacious ensuite bedrooms (two large and one slightly smaller), living and dining room and well-equipped kitchen, with hob, oven, dishwasher, washing machine, Nespresso coffee machine and other appliances. All rooms have air conditioning. There is also satellite TV and free internet access.
The garden has a medium-sized lawn area, mature plants and fruit trees. There is a large pool.
The villa is staffed with a maid (Touria) and a daily cleaning service is part of the package. Touria is also an excellent chef and produces wonderful Moroccan food. If you would like meals prepared for you notice the day before is preferred, although we do keep a store of ingredients for last minute requests. A 2 course lunch costs Pd. Stlg. 11 and 3 course dinner Pd. Stlg. 15 per person. Meals for children under 12 are half price. Touria will prepare breakfast at no charge on the first day of your stay. Thereafter you can either have Touria purchase and prepare breakfast at a cost of Pd. Stlg. 4 per person or you can prepare your own. A well stocked honesty bar is operated for beverages, which are very reasonably priced.
We can organise taxis to/from Marrakech. The cost of a taxi from the airport is MAD 250 (EUR 23). The cost of a taxi into town is approximately EUR 20 each way. We will provide you with a local mobile phone with useful numbers (i.e. taxi, local doctor, villa staff, etc). The number can be made available for your family upon confirmation of your booking.
Married with two children ages 10 and 12. We lived in Marrakech for 3 years and this villa used to be our family home. We moved to Spain in 2012. I (Nick) still spend 6 months per year in Morocco and own a luxury desert camp in the Sahara desert, called Erg Chigaga Luxury Desert Camp.
Diane and Nick Garsten purchased this villa in 2008
We purchased this property because it was just right - well proportioned, generous garden, private, practical and full of beautiful design and architectural detail. The garden is now mature and the place is everything we thought it would be - private, relaxing, tranquil and feels like a real home.
The planning of the domaine was perfect - the developer did not maximise on building as many places as possible. The domaine is unique for its spaciousness and garden feel whilst the villa itself is full of detail. The private courtyards are a delight.
This villa exceeded our expectations in terms of space, layout, gorgeous Moroccan decorative touches, lovely sunny garden with amazing mature planting and overall ambience. The photos do not do this place justice.
The set up was brilliant with a maid visiting everyday. Nothing was too much trouble and we booked a cooked meal on our first night which was a delicious chicken tagine with preserved lemons and olives. They also had basic provisions, provided breakfast on the first day and an honesty bar which relived the pressure to locate a supermarket on the first day. Once we located one (a Carrefour) we found everything we need for the duration of our stay in one trip.
TV, DVD and wifi access meant we could fulfil on work commitments and allow the kids access to British TV occasionally.
The complex itself was very quiet and we had virtual sole use of the clubhouse pool (as well as our own private pool in the villa garden). We treated ourselves to some treatments at the spa which were lovely.
Our only challenge was that we loved marrakech so much that we found ourselves wanting to go into the city most days which proved costly in terms of taxis - we thought we'd only make a couple of trips during our 10-day stay.
Overall I would massively recommend the villa as a base for exploring and we definitely hope to return.
This is a wonderful villa and the pictures really don't do it justice. We arrived late at night but Touria and her husband were waiting for us and gave us a tour of the villa and facilities. We then had a wonderful chicken tagine with rice and salad that Touria had prepared in advance. The villa is also well stocked and had an honesty bar which meant we could have a nice glass of wine to start our holiday.
The villa is huge with three double bedrooms and furnished to a high standard. The gardens and pool are spectacular and all in all we had a fantastic time and would really recommend this villa. The owner was really helpful and answered all our questions before we arrived and organised our airport transfers with a really reliable local transport company who we used for the rest of the holiday for trips out and they never let us down.Touria came in every day to clean the villa and see if we needed anything and also made us breakfast on a couple of days. Her cooking is delicious Morrocan food and we also got her to prepare us a meal after a day out which was a lovely beef tagine .
The villa is a twenty minute drive from the centre of Marrakech but we actually liked that as it was a wonderful and peaceful place to stay , but close enough to all the attractions when we wanted to go out.
All in all a wonderful place to stay and we will definitely be returning.
We have experienced this kind of holiday and we don't regret the option we took. We were a group of four adults and two kids who occupied the entire villa . Everything about the place is impeccable with only inconvenient that is not so close from crowded Marrakech. An polite driver waited for us on arrival with a minivan and he was on time every time we needed to go around for a reasonable price. Touria and her husband are so polite and nice people coming every morning for cleaning the house. Everything was perfect!!!
We highly recommended!
Everything about this villa was fantastic! I was especially thankful for touria the villa maid and cook, as with having kids it was nice not to go out every night and have somebody to cook instead. She was amazing, very lovely lady and the kids especially liked her around. The food she cooked was some serious chef work and we were always impressed.
Having the drinks and essentials upon arrival and the whole time through was also very useful. Restaurants were only 25 minutes away from the villa and was easy to get to with the cab service available which was also a very reasonable price. Diane the owner left a list of number of restaurants to advise us on which we only wished we had checked out sooner.
Over all everything was well planned and organised and the villa was gorgeous. My favourite were the framed photos that decorated the house beautifully. Honestly would recommend this villa to anybody going to Marrakesh, only wish we could have stayed longer. Possibly one of our best villa holidays! Everything was thoughtfully planned out and nothing was missed.
Once again thank you for allowing us to stay at your beautiful home!
The villa is immaculately clean and very comfortable and extremely well stocked. My husband and I stayed for one week and we couldn't have asked for anything more. The area is very very quiet, we sat in the garden by the pool most days and read our books. There was very little noise. So peaceful. Touria, the housekeeper, came in every morning and cooked us lovely breakfasts. She also cooked a couple of evening meals which were delicious. In the evenings we went into Marrakech via the recommended driver. One phone call and the driver was there on time. Touria usually rang for us as our French is very limited.
The villa, is very large and would easily suit a party of 6. The gardens are immaculate and the pool area is very relaxing. Lots of shade if you need to get out of the Moroccan heat.
I would highly recommend this property if you are looking for a peaceful and relaxing holiday.
The only slight negative is the 30minute drive into Marrakech, but to be honest, watching the sights and locals from the car is quite fascinating.
I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again when we next holiday in Marrakech.
This villa is extremely spacious and comfortable and we really enjoyed our stay here. It is in a very peaceful location which is a real haven from the frenetic pace of the Medina. It offers the best of both worlds as it only 20 minutes by taxi to the centre of Marrakech.
The added bonus (and what made it a real holiday for me!) was Touria's great cooking. A large breakfast was prepared every morning and she would then prepare lunch and/or dinner as we required. We could easily have stayed another week!
We spent New Year here with extended family - 3 adults and 3 children (4-8 years). The villa is beautiful with ample space for 6 people.
Designed by a highly regarded Moroccan architect, Charles Boccara, the villa is stunning - two peaceful courtyards with fountains and dining areas, lovely private gardens including a cacti garden leading off the master bathroom through French windows. Throughout there are Moroccan design touches such as rugs, wedding blankets and floor cushions and features such as traditional tadelakt plasterwork and vaulted ceilings.
There is a large well equipped kitchen, perfect for self catering, although if you don't want to cook the villa has a maid who you can arrange with in advance to cook meals - she is a great cook and made some delicious meals for us - her breakfasts were also stunning.
The two main bedrooms are large and flooded with light during the day with views onto the garden. A third bedroom is the other side of the rear courtyard - older children would love this as it is separate to the main villa. All bedrooms have good ensuite bathroom facilities - two have showers and one has a large bath.
There's an open fire for chilly winter evenings.
The villa is great for children - safe garden, British TV channels, a private swimming pool with vaulted buildings either end - in the summer one would give ideal shelter for children playing in the shallow part of the pool and the other is a bar area - great for pool parties! In the winter months you will need wetsuits as it is chilly.
The villa isn't overlooked - its very private and part of the Jardins de Touhina complex. There is another large shared pool at the complex's Clubhouse and a spa - the hammam is highly recommended - but its a shame there isn't a restaurant or a shop for food supplies (the nearest supermarket is accessible by car/taxi). The complex was very quiet when we were there.
The villa's location is remote - its about 20 minutes outside of Marrakech by car or minibus and would be hard to find first time in a hire car (we used the private taxi company for an airport pick up). The complex have a minibus service into town several times a day - you do have to pay for the return journey but we found it really useful for coming back early evening from Jemma El Fna square after a bit of shopping and a meal and saves you phoning for a taxi or waiting ages to flag one down.
A perfect location for get-away-from-it-all luxury in the sun.
Situated 25 minutes from the centre of Marrakech, this villa is ideal for those who want privacy, tranquillity and loads of space, and at the same time want to enjoy visiting the souks and street life of Marrakech.
The property is located in a small, secure development 10km outside Marrakech. The area goes by the name of Al Ouidane but is not marked on any map; Palmeraie being the closest area to the villa is about 10 minutes away. The setting is rural with olive trees, citrus fruits and other products being grown in the vicinity. The 'domaine' has 37 properties, each with its own private garden. There is also a Clubhouse and Spa. Designed by the renowned architect Charles Boccara, the domaine also features charming public gardens which are lovely for an evening stroll. The snow-capped High Atlas Mountains are clearly visible from the development, the views being most spectacular in winter.
The villa is a perfect base to explore Marrakech and its surroundings. In Marrakech, the souks are, in my opinion, the biggest attraction, being full of life and colour and providing an endless supply of fabulous Moroccan merchandise. However, away from the vast array of goods, craftsmen still ply their trade, especially in metalwork and woodwork. A visit to the square at Jemaa el Fna, a UNESCO heritage site, is also a must, especially in the evening when it comes to life with an array of snake charmers, magicians, acrobats and storytellers, as well as the open-air food stalls. The souks and the Jemaa are approximately a 25 minute drive from the villa.
The new town, Gueliz, is close to the souks. It has, of course, a completely different atmosphere. There are some excellent boutiques in Gueliz, especially for buying shoes, bags and general leatherwear.
Like most major cities, Marrakech is full of restaurants, offering an array of cuisine. The food stalls in the Jemaa are fun and good value. My favourite restaurant in the medina is Le Tanjia which cooks heavenly slow-cooked lamb (méchoui), Le Foundouk, near the Museum of Marrakech, is also excellent and is beautifully decorated. In Gueliz, Le Loft and Le Chat Qui Rit offer good quality French cuisine in a lively setting. The Moroccan restaurants tend to offer huge feasts, my favourites being Al Fassia and Dar Zellij. In the villa we have listed a huge array of restaurants, which we can book on your behalf. All the restaurants are approximately 25 minutes from the villa.
The most popular day trips from Marrakech are to the foothills of the High Atlas Mountains, in particular the Ouirgane Valley and Imlil. Both these places are scenically stunning, especially in the winter. It is not just the beauty of the mountains - the valleys are verdantly green and in spring full of almond blossom.
Marrakech is also known as the nightspot of the Arab world! It's a real surprise to many and, whilst we cannot claim to be experts in this field we understand the night life is fun and varied. Kosy Bar in the medina and Le Comptoir in the Hivernage district (with it´s bar and belly dancers) are good places to start the evening's festivities.
There is now a great choice of golf courses in Marrakech. Royal Golf and Amelkis are 15 minutes from the villa, whilst a further six courses are only 25 minutes away. We can organise golf tee-off times for you.
For children, the villa is a wonderful place to stay and run around and enjoy the pool. However, there are also other activities for the whole family including two water parks (which are comparatively empty) and an excellent zip wire park at Terres d'Amanar which is situated 45 minutes from Marrakech.
And, of course, for those more culturally enlightened, the Bahia and El Badi palaces, the Museum of Marrakech and the Majorelle Gardens, to name just a few attractions, will keep you interested.
So, the villa is well located for all the activities you may want to do. It is also a great place to relax and to escape - because whilst Marrakech is dynamic and fun, you do need some relaxation time!
