Cottage, 3 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6-8) All Waterfront

We hope you enjoy our cottage as much as we do! We love getting way from it all and using only our boat for the time that we spend at Holy Ship. It never gets old to cross over that bridge in anticipation of spending more memorable moments with our kids, and family friends. We love that the water is always refreshing and clear, and that there are no black flies and very few bugs in general on the river due to the flowing water. A true hidden gem, we feel incredibly fortunate to spend time with great family, friends, and neighbors when we are at the cottages!

Why Owner chose Wellesley Island
We love the peacefulness of the water and the privacy of our location with the benefit of great destinations (Clayton or Alex Bay) by boat! The two cottages are also great to spread out a bit on your vacation. The location is perfect, and the view of the shipping channel is priceless.
What makes this Cottage unique
Enjoy fishing off the dock, watching the Herons fly by, kayak in the peaceful creek or just sit on the dock and enjoy the sun (and when the sun goes down, fire up the wood burning hot tub!)

Great location for ship watching
We stayed here Labor Day week. My husband, mother and 2 dogs. Plenty of space, clean and amazing location to watch the ships. The Bunko is not as updated as the Holy Ship and mostly we used kitchen in Holy Ship as well as relaxing inside at night and rainy days. We could not have picked a better location for ship watching and the bridge was nice to be near but if you are looking for peace and quiet the bridge noise and construction on the bridge did not provide that. No worries for us though. We spent most of our time on our boat and touring towns. We did use the hot tub. Which leaked a lot as we began filling it as it was probably not used recently and dried out to some extent. Don’t give up though as it warmed and filled it stopped leaking. Even got a bit too hot. Do not think it is a quick fill and use, it did take several hours to fill and warm enough to get in. We started around 6 and were finally able to get in at 10 ish that night. Once it was working all was good. Even stayed pretty hot day to day after fire went out. Make sure you use the covers after to keep heat in. Just popped more wood in next night and it was hot in no time. We did not find directions as the welcome letter stated but not too hard to figure out. All in all we had a wonderful time and the location was amazing for watching the ships which we found a website to tell when they were coming so as to not miss any. We also had a great location to hop in and out of Clayton and A Bay by car and boat. As we spent most of our time on our boat one word of caution for anyone going into Canadian waters on their boat is no alcohol is allowed onboard. We were stopped multiple times by police when in Canadian waters as we were from NY I’m guessing. First time I was drinking as a passenger and both myself and my husband who was driving the boat but NOT drinking got tickets. We did so much research about boating into Canada and when to check in with customs, but never looked this up and well we paid for it. Literally. No worries we now know, so don’t make the same mistake. Will hopefully be back someday and would stay again for the location and the price can’t be beat. And owners were easy to converse with even as they were preparing for a hurricane wherever they were. So thanks for the use of your home and hope all is well with you.
Water Front, shipping View
Excellent view of large ships. Good fishing in the river. TV size and reception is excellent. Fully stocked kitchen.
Great stay on the river
Great location; a true river experience. Spent the week boating, jet skiing, swimming and enjoying the restaurants and shops in nearby Alexandria Bay and Clayton.
Fantastic shipping channel views!
Our group of 3 family units (6 adults & a 4 year old) rented these 2 camp properties in July (comfortable, but not luxurious).Check in process was simple & easy.Units were Clean.Keys in lockbox on properties.Parking for 3 large cars.Literally 4 houses from TI bridge first US span, beautiful lights overhead at night. Neighborhood quiet aside from 1 night when there was a raucous party after 11 pm 2 properties away. That property also in building process so machinery & workmen meant early morning noise most mornings before 9.Work being done on bridge as well commenced before 8.On shipping channel with amazing views of numerous freighters each day!Tiny but functional bathroom, bring a bath mat as floor is wood.No gfi & outlet was under the toilet.Nice water pressure for showers.Kitchen well supplied with cookware.refrigerator & stove top/ oven worked well.Very nice to have watercooler/heater for drinking & tea water.Ceiling & box fans worked well to keep air flowing & window a/c very helpful on 85+ days.
Property closer to river had amazing views, but only suitable for 2 adults (1 full size bed, mattress should be replaced) & 2-4 children.Bunk beds not comfortable for adults (low headroom & twin length),we didn’t use futon mattress in loft. 2 small closets & very small amount of drawer space for clothing storage meant we lived out of suitcases.
2 nice size decks overlook the river For morning coffee, reading & conversation. Did not use hot tub.We noticed pervasive sewage odor & multiple wasps on 2nd day, notified owner & following day a plumber arrived to take care of those issues.Unfortunately the river level was high & dock at boathouse was 6-8” under water.Made it nearly impossible to sit on/fish from it.Wear water shoes to prevent slipping.Good length for pontoon boat.Grandson had great fun catching small perch & Rock bass from dock!! Much happy laughter & squealing ensued. Crayfish hunting was fun to watch & occupied him & his parents.Although fishing results were poor (under 10 decent sized caught all week with 5 adults participating), the river offers unrivaled water views & boat journey fun!!! Clear, clean water to enjoy everywhere you look! Bait store & food chopper both are 10 minute drive (over toll bridge, cheaper to use multiple trip tickets than ez pass)1000 island park quaint to walk/drive around, really nice dock & gazebo area, playground & delicious ice cream enjoyed at the town square area.Good time spent here, owner easy to contact.
Great location for staying on the river.
Great value for staying with family, easy access to the river, great views. Though water is very high this year, were still able to use our boats. Everyone had a very enjoyable week.
Great place to stay
Very nice rental property! The second cottage was great. Everyone had plenty of room and privacy. Great fishing and swimming area for the kids! The only confusing thing was the photos show kids fishing off a dock with a jet ski ramp which is actually the neighbors property, so we found out the hard way when he came to mow and found us on his property fishing. Luckily he was a very nice man who said we were welcome to fish there. Overall, this rental has everything you need for a great time!
Boat Everywhere. Two dock spaces provide easy docking at Holy Ship. Once on site, your car will no longer be necessary.... Boat to the Price Chopper, ABay, Clayton, potters Beach, Gannanoque, Kingston, Brockville, Rockport....
You can even take your boat to the Thousand Island Country club! Whether just boating out to Devils oven for some cliff jumping, or to Brockville Canada for fish and chips, the point is you can do it all by boat while taking in the incredible beauty of the famous Thousand Island water ways. Docking is free everywhere, and restaurants and souvenirs are very reasonably priced. Come and enjoy the laid back attitude and easy living of the St. Lawrence River.
