Moose Landing cottage has three bedrooms plus a loft and sleeps eight. It is one of four modern pine cottages built and owned by Carl Blaisdell on 3000 feet of shore frontage on the East side of Symes Pond. These cottages face pristine, undeveloped forrest owned by the State of Vermont on the opposite side of Symes . Each cottage is private and secluded from each other by at least 500 feet of forest. . Each is located directly on the pond with spectacular views from their front porches. Each cottage has its own private, sandy, beach; perfect swimming for all ages with gradual slope into the water. These knotty pine cottages each feature a cathedral ceiling, glass front woodstove and/or fire pit, gas grill, satellite TV, free wi fi for emails available in central location at specific times, full kitchen with eating utensils, and gas heat. Each cottage has a wood fired outdoor hot tub constructed of Eastern White Cedar available for rent. .A free canoe or row boat is provided to each cottage .A paddle boat is shared between the campers. Kayaks are available for rent. Linens are provided for each bed as well as towels.. A bundle of firewood is provided at no charge. Additional firewood is available for a small fee.

I am a retired postmaster and native of the area. My father had purchased this 130 acre gem when I was very young. The pond was totally undeveloped, no roads, no power. Our family used it for hunting and fishing. After I graduated from college and got married, we built our first road to the shore and set up a rv camper near the shore for our growing family to enjoy. We brought our horses over to ride through the wooded trails. Where our horse paddock was, I built our first cottage, Loon Lodge, from native pine. , Eventually, two more cottages were built, with individual roads going to each. We now enjoy sharing this very special place with others.
Carl Blaisdell purchased this cottage in 1962
This property is best described as "A piece of Heaven”. The wooded mountains slope down to meet the pond. There is absolutely no road noise. All that can be heard is an occasional call of the loon, the hoot of an owl, or perhaps the howl of a coyote at night.
Almost any cottage you look to rent on other ponds are highly developed with wall to wall camps. My cottages are unique in that they are all owned be me, tastefully placed out of sight of each other. All you see from your porch is the natural beauty of Symes Pond and the surrounding woodland. The area is teaming with wildlife, not people. The pond is actually made of two ponds; Upper Symes and Lower Symes with a channel in between. There are islands to explore. This is a kayaker's paradise. The swimming is also nice with a float to swim out to. The loons are always putting on a show that you can watch from your front porch!
Our stay in your cabin (Eagle's Nest) was GREAT!
The view was breathtaking! We loved canoing, and searching for wildlife. We saw deer, loons, wild turkey, chickadees, nuthatches, and geese. We especially enjoyed the horseback riding.
The cabin was so comfy and warm. We loved everything about the cabin. I especially enjoyed reading on the balcony overlooking Symes Pond.
Thanks so much for your hospitallity Carl and Kym.
We will be back!

We have been dissapointed in other places we have stayed. This week far exceeded our expectations. It is the best kept secret in Vermont!
Thanks so much for your hospitality Carl and Kym.
We'll be back!
We rented Moose Landing for a third time in five years and we not disappointed! We have tried other spots in Vermont and Maine but our first choice is always here. Love the peace and tranquility. Our two Golden Retrievers are mad for it! Running and swimming. One day we a complete rain out and relaxed by the fire and read. Perfect place to disconnect and enjoy nature. Can't wait to head back. Thank you Carl for sharing your slice of paradise!
This place was unreal. We rented Moose Landing and the eagles nest. They both exceeded expectations. Beautiful views, great swimming, and peace and quiet. The cottages were so rustic yet clean. I love sitting on the porch looking over the water. Only thing I wish I knew was to be careful driving on the North Hunt Mill Rd. And Paradise Way. It is super easy to bottom out your car. Place was a real slice of heaven.
We absolutely loved our stay in Moose Landing and hope to return again next year. The cottage was clean and the beds comfortable. The view over the wilderness pond was breathtaking, especially during sunset. Some of us felt little need to go anywhere. If you are a bird enthusiast bring your binoculars and your guides and you will not be disappointed; loons, osprey, waxwings, hummingbirds, herons. Trips into one of the nearby towns are quick and easy. The owner was easy to get in touch with via text.
We just returned home from our stay at Eagle's Nest and the peace we felt while vacationing there remains. What a gorgeous place...so calm, peaceful, and serene. Having lived in the Northeast Kingdom for many years, I must say our experience at this beautiful place was one of the most pleasant and relaxing. The quiet was deafening and simply exquisite...only hearing the sounds of distant wildlife, loons, and the red squirrel who seems to reside in a tree outside our window. The view was absolutely lovely...the reflection of the fiery fall colors on the water was unbelieveable! A much needed getaway from the city. Carl was very accomodating, making sure to have the cottage warm and ready for us upon arrival...even allowing us to arrive before the standard check in time, and leaving us a note while we were away to let us know he had stopped to check on us, leaving us his contact info should we need anything. Thank you Carl for allowing us to experience this amazing, beautiful home away from home! A much needed long weekend of rest and relaxation from our crazy lives!!! We'll be back...can't wait for our kids to experience this place too!
Beautiful place, nice cottage, pretty pond. All what we (group of 7 people from Montreal/Laval) needed it was quiet peaceful place. And found it! Yes, WIFI was not available in the cottage and could be found only for 30 min each 2 hours near other cottage and TV had only one channel but who cares about? We came to get relaxing time so we got what we were looking for. Hiking, swimming, boating, barbecue, camp fire, wild mushrooms, wild life... And it was a paradise for my dog :-) Thank you Carl for letting us take her with us! Hopefully one day we will be back and get the chance to tell you MERCI personally.
