Each is located directly on the pond with spectacular views from their front porches. Each cottage has its own private, sandy, beach; perfect swimming for all ages with gradual slope into the water. About Carl Blaisdell
I am a retired postmaster and native of the area. My father had purchased this 130 acre gem when I was very young. The pond was totally undeveloped, no roads, no power. Our family used it for hunting and fishing. After I graduated from college and got married, we built our first road to the shore and set up a rv camper near the shore for our growing family to enjoy. We brought our horses over to ride through the wooded trails. Where our horse paddock was, I built our first cottage, Loon Lodge, from native pine. , Eventually, two more cottages were built, with individual roads going to each. We now enjoy sharing this very special place with others.
Carl Blaisdell purchased this Cottage in 1962
Why Carl Blaisdell chose Ryegate
This property is best described as "A piece of Heaven”. The wooded mountains slope down to meet the pond. There is absolutely no road noise. All that can be heard is an occasional call of the loon, the hoot of an owl, or perhaps the howl of a coyote at night.
What makes this Cottage unique
Almost any cottage you look to rent on other ponds are highly developed with wall to wall camps. My cottages are unique in that they are all owned be me, tastefully placed out of sight of each other. All you see from your porch is the natural beauty of Symes Pond and the surrounding woodland. The area is teaming with wildlife, not people. The pond is actually made of two ponds; Upper Symes and Lower Symes with a channel in between. There are islands to explore. This is a kayaker's paradise. The swimming is also nice with a float to swim out to. The loons are always putting on a show that you can watch from your front porch!

It was quiet. It was secluded. The backdrop was amazing.
We spent most of our time next to the fire pit by the water but the wood stove kept us very warm and cozy when we made our way inside for the evening. The grill and kitchen provided everything we needed for our cooking needs. The place was clean and comfortable and met all our needs for our guys weekend away. The canoe was a nice touch and our time on the water was quiet and relaxing. Even caught a fish!
Thank you for your wonderful review! It has been my pleasure to share this piece of heaven. Carl
Great views, clean, plenty of room
We had a great time. Very peaceful and secluded. The views were great from the front porch.
Thank you for your kind review. I hope you might return. Carl
Peaceful, Serene, Relaxing
We were very happy with our stay at Moose Landing ! The setting was peaceful and quiet and we were surrounded by nature. Just what we were looking for. If you're looking for wild nightlife - this isn't for you - but if you love nature as much as we do, you'll love it here! We brought our labrador retriever and it was so far away from everything that we didn't worry about him at all. He loved the lake ! The cottage was clean and had everything we needed for our stay. I was pleasantly surprised because often pictures will make a house look better than it really is,, but not with this cottage. The pictures didn't do it justice ! The woodwork is amazing ! Deb
Thank you for your great review. It gives me great pleasure to hear how campers enjoyed their stay.
Best destination for R&R without any electronics
Thanks for your review. Electronics (cell service and Wi-Fi ) are available, but I recommend detaching from them and enjoying the tranquillity of Symes Pond!
Wonderful property and experience
Cabin was very nice and clean. Huge fridge with filtered water and ice maker. Awesome, secluded location. There are 3 other properties nearby. As far as we could tell, this is the. best one since it's at the end of the road and is very private. The water isn't as close to the cabin as it looks, and the floating dock is down in front of a different cabin. Still, it was easy enough to wade in and out and get the kayaks in and out.
Thank you for your review.
The cottages are all exactly 100 feet from the water. That is the minimum that the Town and State allow. They all look directly onto the lake with superb views. The cottages are 500 feet apart and are separated by woods.
The swimming float is shared by our campers and is located centrally between them.
I am glad you enjoyed your experience and look forward to your return.
lovely, secluded hideaway!
My family and I loved our stay at Moose Landing cottage! If you want peace and quiet this is the place. We loved kayaking everyday and the swimming was wonderful. Hearing the loons was awesome. The cottage is gorgeous, never seen more beautiful woodwork. Our dogs loved it too!!!
Thanks for your comments, especially about the woodwork. The main beams and posts of the cottage were harvested and hand pealed within 200 feet of the cottage. I left a few inches of each branch on the logs to leave them more natural. I made the stair ballisters from hand pealed cedar logs. I used my own sawmill to saw out the knotty pine boards from trees harvested from the property when I cleared a path for the roads. The cottage was built during the winter after I retired as a postmaster. I delivered the building materials that didn't come from the land by a sled pulled by a snowmobile!
