The charming town of Berkeley Springs: The Berkeley Springs area is safe, affordable, and filled with friendly people. The town is less than two hours from metro Washington. For more than two centuries, people have traveled to Berkeley Springs for the curative powers of the warm mineral waters. Today, the town includes state-of-the-art spas, good food, and shops that offer outstanding local arts and crafts.
If you are looking for a place to get away from it all and relax without being too far from civilization, you can't do better than this property. The house is wonderfully designed and equipped, and the owners provide lots of extras, including feed for the numerous deer and birds which visit the property regularly - we had 18 deer in our front yard one evening, and by the end of the week they were eating out of our hands. The screened in porch was a wonderful place to relax and enjoy the sounds of nature, which included bullfrogs in a pond next door and lots of woodpeckers. The drive into the property along the Cacapon River is very pretty, and should be gorgeous in the fall. We definitely want to return to this house!
I was very impressed by the professionalism and response time by the owner. She made it so easy to plan and stay at this wonderful home for the weekend. It was extremely well kept, everything was clean, and the view of the lake in the back is beautiful. We'll be going back!
It was a pleasure staying at Walnut Hill. The house is great, and everything was as promised. The kids loved the time floating down the river. They all caught fish at the neighborhood river access area. Once we came back from the river, they played wiffle ball in the large front yard. The house has everything you could ask for. No complaints at all. It was enjoyable to work with the home owners. We want to come back in the Fall to see all the changing colors.
The first thing our group of "old" college friend's noticed upon entering the property was how clean the whole house was. The bedrooms were spacious and comfortable. The screened in porch, which is not pictured, was incredible. We spent most of our time out there looking at all the greenery. The neighborhood is hilly, but very walkable. Town is about 12 miles away and has lots of shops and eateries. The house is well equipped with cleaning supplies. We highly recommend this property!
This property exceeded all of our expectations. I will say that the pictures do not do it justice!! This property is heavenly. Everything in the house was just as promised. It was comfortable, quite, and relaxing. We enjoyed walking down to the river every morning and doing some fishing and the kids enjoyed the park for swimming. We loved sitting on the back porch while drinking our morning coffee. The sounds and the scenery are breathtaking. Over this entire process of finding this property through our stay, it was an absolute delight working with Duane and Joyce. We hope to be back soon. If you are looking for a place to relax and unwind, this is by far, your best bet. You will not be disappointed.
We enjoyed our winter stay at this spotless, well-appointed home. It's a bit of a drive from town, and our journey was made a little longer by flooding of the lower road in, but the roads are scenic and fun to drive. The downstairs bedroom and bath make it appropriate for families with older adults or anyone who doesn't like stairs. Beds are comfortable and kitchen has everything you could need, including basic foodstuffs. We were a bit disappointed by the small gas fireplace--it really doesn't add much to the ambiance... but in nicer weather, you'll be outside on the deck or the screen porch all the time anyway. I would say this is a better spot for a warm-weather stay; there would be much more to do right there. The owner was very helpful and stayed in close contact with us through the entire process. Great price for a comfortable spot.
