Overview

About the property

2 Bedroomed Trullo. Sleeps 4 - 6 People Comfortably

Located just 5 mins from Castellana Grotte, home of the world famous underground caverns and 25 mins to the beach, this beautiful trullo has been beautifully restored and extended recently by local craftsmen. This has preserved many of the original trullo features but added space and modern facilities throughout in empthy with the original trullo designs.

Entrance to the property is via the remote controlled electric gates and down the 120 m private drive so your relexation will never be disturbed. This leads to the 13,000 square metres of olive, cherry and walnut trees that were once farmed here. You are encouraged to help yourself and pick your own cherries and olives when in season.

The typically Puglian, exposed stonework and unique coned shaped roofs make staying in here a unique experience where even the specially made circular light suspended within the main cone seems at home within this most traditional of homes. The stone arch doorways within the central trullo, curious alcoves, shuttered windows and doors all add to the experience.

The main trullo entrance takes you into the large, well appointed kitchen, hand made by Natalino who crafted all the woodwork and doors throughout the property. Exposed roof beams and stonework are evident throughout, blending tradition and space within the kitchen, unusual for many trullo’s which just offer an alcove. Space enough to please the most discerning of cooks or space for full family get togethers. Fully equipped with large oven, full size dishwasher, fridge freezer, coffee machine & pods, large toaster and kettle - another unusual feature! A large, easy to use pellet burning stove is located in the kitchen for the chiller months, although full underfloor heating has been built into the trullo throughout for your comfort.

WiFi is available throughout the trullo and even down to the pool area, allowing you to keep in touch with the outside world if you require.

Alternative alfresco cooking is on the large wood fired, traditional shaped barbecue located next to the shaded patio / gazabo that provides welcome shade and views out onto the 500 year old olive trees and across to the Aidratic sea. Here local produce of fish, meat, vegetables and bread direct from the local Castellana market can be enjoyed while relaxing and sipping the famous Primativo red wine of the area or the enchanting sweet Limoncello. Whatever you decide to do you are guaranteed to enjoy the location and views.

The central trullo area has its own entrance door leading directly onto the patio area but also to the two well appointed bedrooms and bathrooms at the rear of the property. It also features a comfortable, double sofa bed within one of the alcoves, if 6 people require to stay.

Both bedrooms have splendid views out, through the olive trees and over the swimming pool and across to the Adriatic sea on the horizon. Furniture in the bedrooms comes from the two exclusive Italian manufactures of Cantori Spa for the metal framed Queen sized double bed with comfortable mattress and Fabrini for the leather sofa also found there. Extensive wardrobe space is provided by large mirrored units along one wall, again something unusual in a trullo property. An ensuite bathroom is located off the master bedroom containing a powerful shower and cabinet, w/c and handbasin set off on top of locally soursed marble. An opening window also provides views to the pool.

The second bedroom again features two single Cantori Spa metal framed beds with equally comfortable mattresses, although both beds can be joined together if required. More mirrored wardrobe space is found along one wall providing excellent storage space.

Off the main corridor leading from the cones area to the bedrooms is the large master bathroom. This features a unique shower room excevated into the trullos extremly thick exposed walls and comes equipped with a very large shower head. In addition to the w/c and large hand basin is a circular illuminated mirror cabinet. A fully plumbed in washing machine is also located in this bathroom for all your personal laundry requirements.

The trullo and pool are fully surrounded by traditional paved stonework but separated by a large strepping stone pathway with barbecue on one side and herb garden on the other growing basil, oregano, rosemary and off course mint for that evening mojito! The entire outside area has been designed for outdoor living during the summer months with eating and drinking by the pool or under the shaded gazebo.

The large 10 x 5m pool itself is located past here where you can relax on the comfortable sunbeds, listening to the water lap on the edge of the Roman steps and look out to the horizon across the Adriatic. The total privacy of the property here makes this trullo a very special retreat indeed. The pool is well maintained and cleaned early in the morning to ensure you holiday is never disturbed.

If you do venture out locally, the nearest town is Castellana Grotte, a mere 5 mins away where local markets are every week for the purchase of provisions. 10 minutes further afield is the UNESCO World Heritage site of Alberbello - the trulli capital! Here over 1400 trulli are located with in the town with heritage dating back 100’s of years. Throughout the summer, festivals abound and the town is a frenzy of activity featuring restaurants, bars, churches and even a wine museum!

Further afield inland is the baroque town of Martina Franca and Cisternino, well worth a visit and towards the coast numerous sun kissed beaches on the Ionian coastline and old fortruss towns like Monopoli, Pulignano al Mare and Ostuni - a mere 30 mins away.

Your ideal holiday in the Italian sun

Magical!

  • 5 of 5

As a family of 3, myself, my wife & daughter were desperate for an oasis of calm and privacy after a busy year....we found it!!

All the correspondence with the guys at Puglia Paradise leading up to our holiday couldn't have been more helpful, especially as we were headed for an area we had never previously visited.

The trullo is beautiful, and nestled in complete privacy within a stunning olive grove at the end of a long, privately gated drive.

As our daughter is a keen swimmer, a plunge pool was not going to cut it, so the 10x5m at Fantastico was perfect for us. It is garnered with some very comfortable poolside furniture.

There is also a much needed covered al fresco dining area.

Go for the added extras that the guys have on offer, as they just add to the experience, when a break from sunbathing is required!

We went for the bike tour with the lovely Cristina, who decked us out with all the necessary gear. Even though we all failed miserably on the fitness stakes, Cristina was able to alter the route to accommodate us, allowing us to reward ourselves with a drink in Alberobello, whilst she rode the journey back to the trullo alone and then drove her vehicle to pick us up and escort us home!!

Marika brought her skills from her Dad's local restaurant to guide us through a pizza making evening. Such a fun experience, only let down by Dad's awful culinary touch. Making pizzas outdoors in the sunset....gorgeous!

The boat trip from Monopoli gave us the chance to dive off into the Adriatic.....views of the coast from boatside were enthralling. The food and drinks on board were a bit lacking, but friendly, family crew.

A car at Trullo Fantastico is a must.

Everything you see on the site is exactly as is in reality.

The customer service was very personable and reliable.

We will be back!

Tranquil and Unique

  • 5 of 5

Trullo Fantastico was very well equipped and probably the best maintained of the numerous villas we have stayed in over the years. The welcome pack was unusually generous and comprehensive. Especially the sizeable home-made cherry tart which lasted the two of us most of the week! The pool is just as it looks on the photos – nicely finished and very inviting. With daytime temperatures during the entire weeks’ stay in the low to mid 30’s, we made very good use of it. Again, the sun loungers were of better quality than usual. As advertised, the indoor temperatures remained comfortable despite there being no air conditioning. The trullo is located more or less in the centre of a large plot, extending to several acres, so there is a distinct sense of privacy without necessarily feeling isolated as the property can be easily reached via a paved road. There are a number of interesting places to visit within 30 – 45 minutes’ drive, the highlights for us being Alberobello and Ostuni. Finally, we have to mention Marika and Leandro of Puglia Paradise who were easy to contact, very welcoming and helpful.

An oasis in the beautiful countryside of Puglia.

  • 5 of 5

Our first visit to the trulli-area has been trully fantastic. We loved the breathtaking views, small villages and good food and wine. Our accommodation Trullo Fantastico really deserves its name; quite, pleasant, comfortable and relaxing. We decided to return this summer to re-enjoy Puglia in all its beauty: strongly recommendable!

Stunning

  • 5 of 5

As a tourist destination, Puglia has had a recent revival and rightly so. My lovely companion and I made our way from Naples Airport to the beautiful coastal town of Trani on the Adriatic coast. Lunch, then down to the harbour to see the local fishermen returning with the day's catch and setting up their stalls. Residents buying their supper, amazing sight. Then on to our destination the Trullis Fantastico just outside the town of Castellanno. We were welcomed like old friends and were soon made at home. The property has been renovated with considerable love and attention to detail and is wonderful. Think Manhattan chic with a lot more sun. Surrounded by groves of olives, walnuts and cherries, the views from the pool were of uninterrupted beauty. If you were wanting to get away from this paradise then we would recommend the caves at Casttenanno, the seafood at the coastal restaurants and the Unesco World Heritage Site of Alberrobello, a feast of Trullis that not only are homes to the local residents, both a plethora of bars and shops that make you wish you'd brought more than one credit card! The local wine-Primativo is a perfect match for supererb home made pizza as well as perfectly cooked seafood. We made the most of it. You should too.

Trulli Fantasico. Truly amazing. We can't recommend it highly enough
