Like nearby Oxford Street and Regent’s Park, this home keeps you looking. To the right of the entrance hall the long, open-plan living area is a sleek space, 16 windows lighting the kitchen and dining table for six to the right-hand side. A sheepskin rug separates a sofa and two armchairs, and the artwork is worth a glance – especially the colourful pistachio shells.

The first left from the hallway takes you into a wood-panelled bathroom, and next along is the second bedroom (with a bunk and trundle bed, it sleeps up to four). The master bedroom is straight ahead, with eclectic artwork and another wall of windows. For a different way of seeing London, your hosts like to hop on a Boris Bike – there’s a docking station round the corner.

Cancellation: You can cancel your booking within 24 hours and get a 100% refund. After 24 hours, charges will apply.

Check-in and check-out: onefinestay will meet you at the home any time after 16:00 on your arrival date. Standard check-out time is 11:00.

Early check-in: This can be arranged in advance, subject to availability and an early check-in charge.

Lead guest: The lead guest must be over 25 years of age.

Guests are required to show a photo identification and credit card upon check-in. Please note that all Special Requests are subject to availability and additional charges may apply.

Soho – an untidy warren of West End streets and alleys bounded by Oxford Street, Shaftesbury Avenue, Regents Street and the Charing Cross Road - is today known for innovative fine dining, media-centric members bars and a run of gay pubs and bars on Old Compton Street, the closest London comes to Castro Street. And it’s pretty close.

Soho is the effective centre of the British film industry and there are still dozens of gone-digital post-production houses here. It also has a good measure of advertising and PR agencies, all of which gives Soho – despite an unnerving sense that it psychically stuck in its 1980s glory days - an undeniable glamour and a certain swagger.

And if hipster London is now way east of here, there are still a smattering of cool boutiques. Even Carnaby Street, and the newly fangled ‘Newburgh Quarter' isn’t quite the stretch of exploitative tat it once was.
