A lovely hideaway for a relaxing break
Ian and Janine were perfect hosts: friendly and full of information about the surrounding area. I don't drive, and Ian very kindly ferried me to and from Stowmarket station over what must have been a busy time over Christmas for them both.
Lots of lovely walks to do, and the cottage was very well equipped and maintained. I had a great, restorative break.
Many thanks for your kind review. We're always happy to help where we can and are so pleased that you enjoyed your well earned break at The Gig House.
Clean & comfortable, an excellent base for Suffolk
This is a clean, comfortable, well appointed cottage, as described. It was clean & tidy and well laid out. It was easy to find and within reach of all parts of Suffolk. The owners were very approachable, friendly, and a mine of information on "All things Suffolk". I would recommend this place as a holiday destination.
Cosy cottage, good starting point
We really enjoyed our stay at The Gig House, we can recommend it and would love to return one day. It was clean and well maintained and we felt being at home when returning from our excursions in the evening. Janine and Ian are very friendly and attentive and always helped with information. The cottage is located in a quiet village, supermarkets and pubs can be reached by car within some minutes. We always picked up fresh range eggs at a farm nearby. There are many places of interest to be visited: Cities like Cambridge and Bury St. Edmunds, beautiful seaside villages like Southwold or Aldeburgh, impressing museums or exhibitions like Sutton Hoo, Museum of East Anglian Life, castles and windmills, beautiful landscapes and beaches like Dunwich Forest or Walton-on-the-Naze. My son (13) loved the driving range nearby and we often played basketball on various playgrounds. Minigolf can be found in Felixstowe, as well as a lot of casinos (for those who like them). We had to get used to short shop hours and to the fact that most of the pubs do not serve food after 2 p.m..
Thanks for taking the trouble to submit your review. We're glad that you enjoyed your stay and look forward to welcoming you again sometime soon.
Erholsamer Urlaub in gemütlichem Cottage
Gig Cottage at Stonham Aspell
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this cottage. It was as the listing described; in addition I would stay it was more spacious than expected with bags of character and charm. The secluded private garden was an added bonus. The owners were very welcoming and provided information on how to get there and were there to greet us on arrival. They made sure that my husband had secure storage for his cycle which meant he could make the most of the excellent cycling country.
The cottage was well maintained and spotlessly clean. The kitchen facilities were good too.
The area is very beautiful, village and towns full of historical and architectural interest. I would recommend trips to the coast, Southwold, Aldbrough, Orford, Thorpeness and inland: Debenham, Woodbridge, Lavenham especially the food at The Great House Restaurant. A trip to Shawsgate vineyard is well worth a visit even if you are not a wine lover.
We would recommend the cottage and hope to return.
Thanks for the review. We always try to be as helpful as possible so that our guests can make the most of their stay. Feedback like this makes it all the more worthwhile.
