This roomy two-bedroom townhouse has a well-equipped eat-in kitchen, grand parlor and spacious bathroom, a rear porch and maple-shaded front garden. (Please note as you view our images that they have been taken on different occasions, hence there are variations in decorating and the layout of furniture.)
Guest Book: 'This is our 13th trip to Bar Harbor, and have stayed many places. We have walked by your cottage so many times! Personally, I've admire the beauty from outside and could not help but be curious about the inside wonders. This is a charming 'little house', and we have enjoyed sharing its ambiance. Thanks for the flowers! Our favorite things: woodwork and floors, clean, good beds and sheets, plenty of pillows, colorful kitchen, cross-ventilation with lots of windows, the furniture (livable and easy), library, choice of pictures, nice bath/ bath soap/ linens.' Novella and Sam
'What a lovely place to stay! Beautiful colors, comfortable beds, cute furnishings, great light. The flower garden in front is wonderful, too. What a great location in a great town. All the best,' The Satroms
'We, indeed, had a great week in Bar Harbor. We love your cottage!!! It is sooooo comfortable and homey and beautifully decorated. We consider ourselves very lucky to have rented your cottage.' The Clohess
Guest Book: 'What a charming cottage - so well laid out, so charmingly decorated, so exquisitely located. It was such a pleasant place to return to after our glorious days in the park, at the beach, or downtown. We hope to come and stay again next year.' Anne and Dave
'Each time we come to Bar Harbor, we find it more difficult to leave. Thank you for helping to make our vacation week here so special.'
'We felt at home at The Cottage instantly and staying in Bar Harbor relaxing. Time at Acadia has recharged our batteries. Hope to be back again.' Denise, Bill, David, and James
'What a wonderful second visit to The Cottage! We are so happy to be back. The kids had a great time walking to 'Two Cats' (breakfast) on one end of the street and to Sherman's gifts on the other, and we all enjoyed some great hikes in Acadia. Thanks for sharing The Cottage with us.' The Forminards
Guest Book: 'We had a wonderful time. You have a lovely property and we feel lucky to have found it. We like the privacy and the location and, of course, your personal touches and hospitality. Thanks for sharing it with us'
'What a wonderful respite from Boston. Our crew loved the fiestaware and unique table. Can't beat the location either - We'll be back!'
“This is our second stay at this charming cottage and it has been so wonderful to return here. We appreciate the gracious gestures - flowers, fruit, lovely soaps - and we love having this as home base from which to make our daily adventures. We are happy to be here again and we look forward to returning.”
'We've enjoyed our third week at The Cottage on Cottage after being away for a few years. Your place in great! It's very comfortable. We love breakfast at Two Cats and found some delicious local food at the farmer's markets to cook! We look forward to future visits. Thanks! The Peanis
We started off with whale watching and were lucky enough to see eight finback whales. Hiking, fishing, dining... everything so convenient to The Cottage. We very much enjoyed staying here! The Cottage is lovely and so comfortable. All the best!
Returning to this homy house was a pleasure for us! The place is very comfortable and so well situated, in the middle of Bar Harbor village. Having access to the sea, to the park buses and to all the commodities, by foot, is so convenient! Abigaël is very nice and helpful. We hope to return soon!
Very close to everything in Bar Harbor. Easy access in and out of Bar Harbir to Acadia and Ellsworth. Quaint interior. Responsive hostess. Would come back again.
My husband and I and our twin 7-year-olds spent a week at the Cottage on Cottage in June 2014 that we will always treasure. The house is adorable, inside and out, with lovely details such as the begonias and flowering vine in the front yard and the gorgeous hand-painted kitchen table. There is a garage where you can stow your bikes. The location could not be better--just steps away from the center of Bar Harbor, with great pizza at Rosalie's, ice cream at Ben and Bill's Chocolate Emporium, a lovely bookstore (Sherman's), a video rental place for evening movie watching, Jordan's restaurant, renowned for its blueberry muffins (which we ate almost every morning), and in the other direction just a block away from the water, allowing evening strolls to see gorgeous sunsets, and easy access to the sand bar to Bar Island that is walkable only at low tide. Also just a block away is a huge supermarket (Hannaford's) that has everything you could want, making it easy to plan meals and cook at home. The kitchen was well equipped. The house has wifi and a new washer/dryer. Abigail was incredibly nice and responsive. We were snug and comfortable and felt fortunate to have found this lovely spot.
C'est un très joli cottage, joliment décoré en plein cœur de la ville. Notre hôtesse nous a très bien accueilli et un petit problème survenu lors de notre séjour à été réglé le jour même. J'y retournerais sans hésitation.
My wife and I spent a week in the cottage for our honeymoon and it was fantastic! Just what we were looking for; a quarter mile from main street, with all the stores and restaurants you could possibly need (would recommend trying Jeannie's Great Maine Breakfast on Cottage Street). The only time we drove is when we went into Acadia National Park to enjoy the beautiful park loop.
The cottage was very cozy and quaint with just the right touches to make it feel like a home away from home. Comfy bed and couch made it a great place to come back to after being out all day. Just hanging out in the cottage was one of the highlights of our trip!
Only cons were the squeaky architects on the second floor, but it was infrequent and they were gone after 4pm each day.
We plan to go back someday and will definitely recommend it to our friends!
Shopping, restaurants, entertainment and Frenchman Bay are all within walking distance. Acadia National Park, the College of the Atlantic, Jackson Laboratory, and the MDI Bio Lab are all less than a five-minute drive away.
