Not a quiet cabin on the lake!!
This property is right on a very busy highway. The traffic noise is constant.
The cabin is fine. Smells like an old lake cabin which is what it is.
The bedding in the room with a queen bed had not been changed. There was a lottery ticket in the sheets and a blood stain.
One bedroom just has an old sheet hanging up for curtains.
Nice view of the lake out the big front room windows. Lake is across the road from property. There's a dock, but the ducks have claimed it. It was solid duck poop. Beach had washed up debris and a dead fish. Instructions in the cabin said there was a rake for the beach in garage, but door was locked and no key.
I liked the open floor plan of the cabin. Kitchen had everything I needed.
Fire pit is nice, but again, the traffic is terrible and there's no peace and quiet.
There's a hefty deposit I had to put down, so I wanted to leave the place nice.....even though there is also a steep cleaning fee tacked on to the price.
We left a day early. We won't be back.
Perfect cabin / price for a weekend getaway
The cabin was outdated but it was CLEAN. The owners are very responsive and everything was in working order.
There is TV advertised but it doesn't have any channels to watch. Seems cheesy to me. Other than that, a great place to stay.
Ok for Price - Needs Some Work
All in all it was an okay stay. It worked (sorta) for what we needed. I don't think they should advertise as sleeping 8 people unless you are planning to put one person on a couch and another on a loveseat. We had 5 people including one couple and 1 person was on a couch.
The house is eh. I didn't expect anything fancy, but also didn't plan to have to plug in a light fixture with a cord that's just stubbed through the wall - that can't be up to code.
The house was outdated, which we knew and were fine with. It could use some fixing as well (obviously the light for the bedroom you need to plug in and switch is useless), but also some tiles just placed over bare spots on the floor, and walls that are just semi-patched. The light switch for the large bedroom is outside in the hallway so it's awkward. There were also no shades on that bedroom so the sun would shine right into our eyes in the morning and no privacy from the road at night with lights on. 3rd day we finally grabbed blinds from above the couch and placed them in the bedroom.
Having no air conditioning was tough on the days we were there and there was little breeze. Would've been nice to have more then 1 fan to try and circulate air. Also just basic stuff, like more then 2 towels in a home you suggest sleeps 8, a deck of playing cards or board games perhaps since there is no cable, I'd assumed there would be an antenna for free access to local TV, but there was not. There is a DVD player but no DVDs but not far from Garrison if you head to a Redbox.
The shower area is the most updated of all with the enclosure nicely tiled, but had an awful, dirty showerhead that cracked and fell apart one of the final days we were there. But the shower shelf is made of wood and was wet after each shower. The bathroom lights are old and take a few seconds to turn on, when I originally got there I assumed they didn't work - I just wasn't patient enough.
The owners were quick to respond to inquiries & had detailed instructions left for our stay and our departure. The price was reasonable if you go in without high expectations.
The view is beautiful and the yard was sufficient for all the vehicles we had towing boats. Having a fire at night isn't possible by the sheer numbers of mosquitoes, they are literally bouncing off the screens trying to get at you. The dock looked like it was brand new but didn't do anything more with it then just walk out for a look.
Property could be amazing with some reno
