'Gondoliera' is on the first floor of a building of the '700 and it is a family home: we furnished with some original furniture of our ancestors Venetians. This makes it pleasantly unique, refined and truly Venetian!
Its bright windows overlook a scented garden green.
The living room is comfortable, the two double bedrooms, convertible into double, are clear, elegant and intimate, complete with two bathrooms.
The spacious kitchen is truly a place for cooking Venetian dishes, is cheerful, livable and functional; well equipped with 5 burners in the stove, dishwasher, refrigerator and oven, many interesting pots.
The apartment has air conditioning, TV, heating and Wi-Fi free
The view from my bedroom window, as I woke the first morning in Venice, was like a movie setting. Wrought iron balconies, vines climbing up the weathered stucco/brick walls, clotheslines draping the day's laundry. Anna provided the best method of transportation from the airport to San Stae canal stop without a hitch. We were greeted off the dock and rolled our luggage about 5 minutes tops to the apartment. This location is perfect for venturing on foot or water transport to all the museums, historic sites, and riding down the canal and back. The kitchen was generous in size and tools as we preferred to prepare breakfast and dinner at "home" and rest our feet from miles of exploring (and shopping too!). Our bedrooms were comfortable, each with bathroom. Warm water when you needed it and a heating system (radiators) which added comfort to chilly evenings in October. Lovely hosts - thank you so much to Anna and Donato!
Anna’s family home provided a quiet and comfortable resting place, a taste of how real Venetians live, the perfect location, and an opportunity to become friends with an energetic, passionate woman. Anna met us at the Vaparetto stop and greeted us with fresh salami, bread and wine; expecting us to need refreshments after our journey to Venice. She explained how to get around and where the grocery stores are. Anna is an enthusiastic member of Row Venice, which provides rowing lessons. When Anna volunteered to be our rowing instructor, we gained a memorable and valuable way to spend more time to spend with her, and to learn more about Venice from her native perspective. We highly recommend this apartment for its comfort, location, and, most importantly, for the good care we received and the real connection to Venice we experienced.
We had a great stay in this apartment during our vacation in Venice. I can not say enough good things about the friendly, personal service provided by Anna and her family. My wife and I stayed in this apartment with another couple, and it was excellent for several reasons. Anna was very easy to work with in booking the apartment and arranging to meet us upon arrival. She was unable to meet us personally but her husband Donato and daughter Margherita met us at the vaporetto stop and escorted us to the apartment. They showed us around the apartment, how things worked (including the Italian coffee maker) and around the neighborhood. They also recommended some great restaurants. The apartment is in an excellent location - away from the touristy areas which makes it quiet at night, but close (5 min walk) to the Rialto Mercato and San Stae vaporetto stops so it is easy to connect anywhere you want to go. The central location also makes it easy to walk anywhere on the island if that's your preference. It was the week before Easter, and Anna came by later in our stay and delivered a tiramisu that was excellent. The apartment was very clean and comfortable, with a nice kitchen. We will definitely stay here again the next time we return to Venice.
I promised myself I'd write reviews of hotels, tours, etc. when I left Italy and a year and a half later am finally doing it. We stayed in three apartments (in Venice, Sienna and Florence) and all were very good - but this one was great! Anna was so kind and helpful - met us at the water bus stop and escorted the four of us to the apartment. After a tour of the apartment, her husband Donato walked us to the Rialto bridge. Much appreciated! The apartment was lovely and immaculately clean. Two comfortable bedrooms and two baths. The kitchen was well appointed and contained everything we needed to make a delicious dinner from our purchases at the Rialto Market. I celebrated a BIG birthday while we were there, and Donato brought me a bottle of prosecco and some tasty cookies. I can't recommend this apartment enough. We are returning to Venice in October, and if our friends decide to travel with us, we will definitely book here.
Four of us stayed in this wonderful apt. for three nights from May 29 to June 1. From the first email with Anna to our arrival she couldn't have been more helpful. She gave us exact directions from the airport to the water taxi stop. Anna was at the stop and escorted us to the apt where she had a bottle of wine and snacks for us. She was very helpful during our stay and even made a water taxi reservation to take us to the cruise port when we left. Donato came to the apt. To help with our luggage and get us to the water taxi. The apt. Is exactly as pictured on Home Away. Very comfortable beds, plenty of towels and everything needed in the kitchen. I would highly recommend this apt. To anyone considering a trip to Venice. I know if we return to Venice we will definitely stay with Anna and Donato again.
In a quiet little square in the heart of the ancient city, a short walk from the Rialto Bridge with its famous daily market, our apartment 'Gondoliera' will offer you an absolutely Venetian.
In the intrigue of alleys and squares and small channels you will find local craft shops, the big names, cafes and supermarkets, but also the 'bacari' and restaurants of Venetian cuisine.
The Santa Croce district is still densely populated by Venetians, will make you taste the real life of the city water and discover the hidden beauty of the impressive artistic and architectural heritage.
And 'possible to organize a lesson in vogue in the style of the gondoliers, on a typical Venetian boat.
