Fantastic Villa in a peaceful setting.
If you want a peaceful Villa with great views of the Tuscan countryside, this is ideal!
The villa is really nicely furnished and equipped. I would recommend to anyone and would definitely go back!
Feel like a local not a tourist in this place!
This home is beautiful and in a perfect location. We stayed while celebrating my mother's birthday. Being our first time in Italy, we decided to spend half our time in Tuscany and half our time in Rome. At first you feel like you are in the middle of no where, perched on a hillside in a tiny village. You can hear the church bells ringing, smell your neighbors cooking as you walk down the cobble stone streets, and watch the farmers tending to their olive trees. It was peaceful and relaxing, yet the home is no more than an hour from the beaches, Florence and Pisa. The inside of the home is well appointed, lovingly restored, and nicely maintained. It was a pleasure to stay here, my only complaint is that I couldn't stay longer!
A Tuscan hilltop villa, nestled among olive groves
I have stayed here with family for two weeks for the last two summers. I'd love to go again, and I recommend it enthusiastically!
This charming villa is perched atop a hill in the quaint village in San Marcario in PIano, northwest of Lucca. Having historic Lucca so close is wonderful, so too is being based in San Marcario - a truly peaceful and relaxing little community.
The house is spacious, comfortable, and full of Tuscan charm. The views are very beautiful, and my favorite ways to enjoy them are from the patio and from the window's of the mater suite. Be sure to get a cappuccino from Luigi's little shop down the hill!
Wonderful stay - authentic Tuscany
I was visiting Tuscany with my girlfriend and we were looking for somewhere quiet with a view and an authentic Tuscan experience.
And this is exactly what we got.
Recently restored, the villa has all mod cons (including very fast internet) and a wonderful master suite on the top floor.
The village is approached via a scenic drive, yet only about 15 minutes from Lucca, and close to the airport at Pisa and Florence isn't far. Once there, we were stunned by both its peace and atmosphere, disturbed only occasionally by the church bells. We could walk the narrow cobbled streets and were welcomed by everyone we met.
Bottom line: it was worth every minute.
Thanks for letting us stay.
Il Pozzo is a beautifully restored privately-owned Villa situated on the edge of the little village of Fibbialla, set in the hills just 15 minutes west of the historic walled city of Lucca, and only half an hour from Pisa airport. Florence is only one hour's drive and the lovely coastal resorts of Viareggio and Forte di Marmi 45 minutes. Local attractions include: San Macario in Piano (10 minutes)- restaurant 'Il Ciancino' where you can try out delicious home-cooked traditional Lucchese dishes such as farro soup, wild boar casserole or salt cod. Lucca (15 minutes) - birthplace of composer Puccini. Enjoy - beautiful restaurants; shopping along the Via Filungo for designer Italian clothing or locally produced foods; cycling around the fortified mediaeval walls; sampling traditionally made ice cream; eating Tuscan delicacies in the Amphitheatre; sipping a cappuccino in the Piazza San Michele or listening to arias from Puccini's operas in the Church of San Giovanni. Torre del Lago (15 minutes) - in July and August, visit the Puccini festival and listen to one of his lovely operas in the open-air surroundings of Lake Massaciuccoli. Further afield: Barga - travel along the Serchio river to visit the medieval town and its ancient cathedral. Garfagnana (45 minutes)- a mountainous and beautiful part of Tuscany where you can find porcini mushrooms and the locally produced farro as well as the Grotta del Vento, a beautiful system of caves and grottoes that wind underneath the Pania Secca. Versilia (30 minutes) visit the lovely coastal resorts where you can bathe in the warm waters of the Mediterranean with a backdrop of the stunning Apuan Alps where marble has been quarried since Roman times.
