Watch the sun slip into the Gulf from your private lanai or from the beach just in front of this newly renovated (in 2006/7 with continuing updates) Gulf-front Condo at South Seas Island Resort on Captiva Island. Or, walk to the village of Captiva (about a 10 minute walk) and enjoy excellent restaurants and good music. Shop the unique shops and artist galleries. Whatever you like to do in paradise, you can do it here on Captiva Island.

The two and a half miles of beach in front of the Condo can take you through the village, out on the Gold coast of Captiva or up around South Seas Island Resort. On the way, see the dolphins frolic in the surf and watch the shore birds carefully eye you and just barely stay out of reach.

This renovated Condo (in 2007, with continuing updates) has every possible amenity and was designed with your comfort in mind. The cheerful yellow walls and Mexican tile floor complement island decor including hand-painted furniture by noted local artist Terry Causey. Cable TV, flat screen mounted on the wall in the LR, flat screen TV in the MBR and guest bedroom. Blue Ray in LR. Ceiling fans in each room. Crown molding, Silestone counters, water-jet tub, full-size tiled shower, leather furniture in the living room. The kitchen has a microwave, coffee maker, juicer, coffee grinder, blender and the necessary utensils, dishes and glassware. Hi speed WIFI.

The South Seas Island Resort amenities are NOT available to private renters. You have use of the large pool and tennis courts just behind the building, and - of course - the fabulous shelling beach.

About Kim Herres

I grew up in Kansas and spent 30 years working for IBM, living in Kansas, New York, Connecticut, Atlanta, Florida. Now I live in Sanibel/Captiva selling real estate for Sotheby's International Realty. I also still have my home in Atlanta so I spend some time there, too. After Hurricane Charley, I renovated this unit so that I could and would want to live in it.

Why Kim Herres chose Florida

I first came to Sanibel/Captiva in 1974 because the Kansas City Royals held spring training here back then. Driving across that causeway to Sanibel changed my life and I knew I would live here some day. I bought my first property in the 80s and have bought and sold other properties since then. But, always, I have kept my condo at South Seas. Hurricane Charley was hard on us, but it was time to renovate and it allowed the kind of renovation I probably could not have done all at once otherwise.

What makes this condo unique

I love watching the sunset every night from my lanai, or walking on the beach at sunset. I also love that I can hear the sound of the Gulf waters from my unit and can always see the Gulf. It is so peaceful. The village of Captiva is charming with good restaurants and fun things to do. There is a new Doc Ford's at the entrance to South Seas that is basically just across the street from me. It is open to the public. Captiva's beach is one of the best in the world. Captiva Cruises takes you on various trips around the islands to learn and see about the barrier islands and to have lunch in fun places and watch the dolphins run along the boat. My Dad loved to fish here up at Redfish Pass.

Our only regret was we couldn't stay longer. Owner was more than welcoming and checked in several times to make sure everything was going well. The location couldn't be better. Inside the South Seas gates and easy walking to Doc Ford's and the Mucky Duck. Plenty of places for the teenagers to kayak and the beaches were perfect. The place was furnished beautifully and with quality. I felt like I was at home. Everything had a clean feel to it and the washer/dryer was a definite plus. It also seemed very safe. Had no problem with the kids coming and going as they pleased here. They also found many conchs, starfish and sand dollars which they loved. God willing we will be back next year.
