Hi-speed internet. This cozy log home is located on 80 acres of pristine private land with fantastic views of the Southwest Rocky Mountains and the sacred Sleeping Ute Mountain! This property is only 25 minutes from Mesa Verde and only 90 minutes from the Telluride Ski Area! It is only 50 minutes from Durango!
The great room has floor to ceiling windows facing south with nothing but trees and rolling canyons as far as the eye can see! The kitchen is fully equipped for your cooking needs, or you can barbeque on the east covered porch with the gas grill. Downstairs there are two cozy bedrooms with double antique beds and a full bath. Located upstairs is the large private master bedroom, which has a king-size bed upon a custom log frame. Connected to the master bedroom is the master bath with a beautiful tiled shower. Central air conditioning and heating will keep you comfortable during any season.
After a day of exploring the ancient cliff dwellings at Mesa Verde (only 25 min away), relax in the six person Olympia Caldera hot tub. If you look hard enough you will find pottery shards, arrowheads, possible kiva sites and other scattered remnants of this ancient culture on the 80 private acres the home sits on. Please do not remove or disturb any of these artifacts.
If you long for peace and quiet, this is the place. The fall weather is gorgeous, the winters are mild and snow country is only a short distance away. The home rests on the edge of a series of tree covered canyons leading up to a spectacular view of the sacred Sleeping Ute Mountain. Not one other human made structure can be seen from the south deck of the cabin to the Sleeping Ute in the distance.
Thanks for a wonderful stay. Your home was just perfect! We loved the solutide at the end of the day. Your hot tub was perfect at the end of a day of hiking. My grand daughter can not wait to get back and tell their friends. We had a perfect vacation.
We stayed in this beautiful home a few days prior to Christmas. After first it was a bit tricky to find, but we came across a neighbor in the area who pointed us in the right direction. This hidden gem was perfect for our short escape from the city. The views were absolutely amazing! We drove around the area and saw lots of deer in the snow, which was such a serene sight. The home was comfortable and roomy for a family. We had such a wonderful time in the winter there, that I would love to see how beautiful the summer is around that area. This home came with everything you would need in the comfort of a home. The only recommendation I would add would be to have a non-stick pan. It may have been our lack of skill with the pans provided, but we ended up buying a cheap non-stick pan at Wal-Mart to use after our first unsuccessful attempt. Thank you for extending your home to others and allowing us the escape from everyday life.
What an amazing place to stay! It had everything we needed was our home away from home it was so immaculate and clean.
Breathtaking views of the mountains we also seen deer and a mountain lion!! The kids were super excited!
Having a soak in the hot tub while it was lightly snowing on the deck was amazing one of the best places we have ever stayed would recommend it to anyone wether you want a romantic getaway or one with the family it is awesome.. And would definitely ring Lana again when I return to colorado I say when not if because we will be back!
Cheers Lana thanks again!
Your Aussie travellers xxx
My husband and I recently spent 4 nights/5 days at this home. It's absolutely beautiful. We were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary and had an incredible time. Close enough to many must see sights, with all the comforts of home. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for peace/quiet/breath taking scenery all around!!
The house location and amenities were exactly as described, the inside was even better. The attention to the little details was amazing as we just kept seeing new things the whole 7 days we were there. The décor was not overwhelming, but well thought out in relationship to the Mesa Verde area. The master bed was very comfortable, and the master bedroom and bath were beautiful. Everything you could possibly need for cooking was there and the grill outside was fantastic (use the sear setting, it's great!!) Lana was extremely helpful and prompt with all of our questions about the home and our vacation in general. Thank you Lana for letting us live in this wonderful home for 7 nights and helping to make our vacation perfect!!! We would definitely recommend this home to anyone vacationing in the area. Just be careful driving with the bunnies and the deer.
Was able to book this location at the last minute for a New Year outing in Durango. The weather turned to really cold and snow. The accommodations where what was expected and the quiet surroundings made for a peaceful retreat. We really enjoyed this place and plan to be back. This place is about a 40 minute drive to Durango, but the scenery traveling is worth the location. And with the secluded location, the view at night is really great from the deck.
With wifi and DirecTV, one can spend time entertaining themselves even if the weather turns for the worst while you are there. The drive to the location may make you think where am I going, but when you pull through the gate, you will be happy to arrive.
What great place for the family to get together. The sunsets behind the " sleepin ute" mountain were so beautiful. Mesa Versa is also a special place that everyone should see. The cabin was very comfortable and everything we hoped it would be. Grilling out on the deck with that view was the best.
There is great hiking on the 80 private acres or drive a few minutes to the head of Sand Canyon and hike into 164,000 acres of public land. This area contains the highest known archaeological density in the United States. Portions of this undeveloped monument have more than 100 cultural sites per square mile-some individual sites cover 10 acres or more. From this location you can go east to Mesa Verde National Park 19 miles away or keep going to Durango 53 miles away. In Durango ride the narrow gauge train to Silverton or have an evening meal at the Bar D Chuckwagon [reservations required]. Travel north out of Durango to Durango Ski Resort, or keep going over the Million Dollar Highway to Silverton and Ouray. Next head to Telluride and ski down the beautiful snow packed slopes at Telluride Ski Resort. You can go south and gamble at the Ute Mountain Casino about 15 miles away. Visit the Ute Mountain Tribal Park where they give guided tours through their Indian ruins.
