Guestbook comments from the manager

We booked a last minute, much needed break through Beside the sea holidays and had a delightful week at Coastguards Beach House at Jury’s Gap. The cottage was delightfully furnished and decorated – and very comfortable. It was also spotlessly clean. The wood burning stove was a great advantage the first evening as we arrived in very cold and windy weather.

We were initially concerned about the proximity of the firing range and some construction work being carried out next to the cottages by the environment agency but that didn’t really affect our enjoyment or detract from the wonderful walks along an almost deserted beach. Our drive to Dungeness was a revelation and we much enjoyed our trips to Rye, Winchelsea – and a lovely lunch at Chapel Down. Salts Farm Shop was also a great find. The location and the cottage itself made for a very enjoyable break.

Great little Seaside get away!

  • 5 of 5

We wanted to stay right beside the sea for a short break over half-term and this cottage delivered!

The welcome book (on-line) is really clear about how to get in and what to do, etc. so on arrival we turned up, got the key and in we went, to be greeted by a beautiful loaf of lemon cake (sooo good!) and a lovely bottle of Prosecco.

The cottage is traditional in appearance and had nice pictures, etc. on the walls. The heating system is a Nest and is so simple to use if we were cold. We didn't use the log burner as wasn't really cold enough but can imagine the heat it pumps out when using it!

All facilities you need are there, from great WiFi, Coffee Manchine and even Washing Machine.

It is so close to the beach, you can hear the waves crashing on the rocks at high tide. Walks on the beach and the sea defences were brilliant at blowing the cobwebs away either early in the morning, during the day or late at night in the dark!

The local area, especially Rye, is lovely and well worth a visit. Day trip to Dover Castle and Canterbury were no problems from here.

Highly recommend and should we choose to visit this part of the world again, we will look to stay here!

Beautiful comfortable cottage very nicely decorated and in a very quiet but convenient loaction

  • 4 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Coastguards Beach House, the house is decorated very nicely and feels very homely, everything was very clean and the kitchen was equipped very well, and plenty of fresh clean towels etc. It was situated very well with the beach only a short walk away, in a quiet and peaceful location. Overall a very enjoyable relaxing week in this part of the country.

  • 5 of 5

Stayed here for a couple of nights for my dads birthday and had a lovely time. It's was very cold so the log fire was loved by all the family.

Went to the local pub, the owl who were very friendly and accommodating.

Would definitely return

Bijzondere omgeving

  • 3 of 5
