Overview

About the property

In the countryside in the company of a stream

In the Regional Park of the Hundred Lakes, in the country of origin of Bernardo Bertolucci, the place that inspired his many masterpieces ... We expect our mill!

Immersed in the quiet of the woods and surrounded by the ancient traditions of the mountains, the Mill Riana offers the opportunity to discover or rediscover its historical, cultural and gastronomic of the place. Separated from the tourist bustle, it is ideal in the summer to enjoy all the colors of the Apennines and to spend periods of intimacy and affection out of the daily routine.

Due to its centrality, the Mill is well connected to all major attractions in the area: Parma, Le Cinque Terre, Pisa, Florence, Genoa, Mantua, are easily reachable by car allowing you to embrace the complete panorama of Italian art from the Low Middle Ages to the Renaissance.

In winter the park, in addition to the ski resorts, offers nature trails on foot or horseback, fishing and other activities typical of the Apennines. Pets are more than welcome and the main countries from which stock up for groceries and other necessities are Monchio Courts (where the headquarters of the Regional Park of the Hundred Lakes) and Corniglio. To suggest you save a large amount of expenditure at the beginning of the holiday period; In fact, rising from Langhirano there are several supermarkets cheap including a LIDL: http: // www. of-times. en / 43010 / Langhirano / Lidl-Langhirano-PR-Via-Cascinapiano, 98338. html.

Entrance meets an ancient stone sink and one of the two millstones of the original mill. On the ground floor there is a master bedroom (queen) with a wood stove and a bathroom (bathtub, washing machine, boiler for hot water) adjacent. On the upper floor, which can be accessed directly from the outside, is the living room with satellite TV and two sofas in a bed. Next to the living room is the kitchen with a table for six people, and on opposite sides of the upper floor there are two double bedrooms.

Ample space for parking, possibility to eat outside by the campfire and making bread or pizza thanks to an old oven still working.

Since ancient times up to fifty years ago the mill was one of the most important resources for the sustenance of the population food in Val Bratica. It was built on a gentle slope between two streams, the Canalaccio and Bratica, strategically located to take advantage of the natural inclination which was used to divert water from the first course to fill the gap in the tank above the house, channel it through the locks in two arches (still existing) to move the blades that activated the mill and get it down to the second.

This Apennines gave life, since the age pre-Roman times, in countries and communities that are still living fingerprints. Ligurians, Romans, Lombards left in the civil infrastructure, in customs and in the language, signs of a landscape that has characterized the character of the mountain; in place names, in fact, medieval Latin expression "Montium Curtes" (the courts of the mountains) seems to have originated the current name of the village chief, Monchio Courts, City Hall. The variety of churches, inside and in the vicinity of which you can find works of great artistic interest (speakers, majesty), testify to the time domain of the bishops of Parma from 941 d. C. until 1805. An imprint of this power is clearly visible in the country of Lugagnano, where you can still see the bridge rebuilt by the Bishop Ferdinando Farnese in 1602. In the twentieth century the Apennines was a huge battle during the Second World War and we are witnessing the many headstones and memorials in honor of the partisans who fought the fascists.

Il Mulino was crossing point of important personalities of Italian history and culture. Together with the directors Bernardo Bertolucci and Giuseppe (Novecento, The Last Emperor, The Last Tango in Paris, The Dreamers, Berlinguer I love you, etc ...), this place boasted the presence of the likes of Roberto Benigni, Pier Paolo Pasolini Giorgio Bassani. Mention last but not least deserves the father of the brothers directors, Attilio Bertolucci, one of the most important poets of the twentieth century, the knowledge of which we are very pleased and excited today.
