Welcome to Lake Buel! This recently renovated cottage has been an old favorite for generations since the 1950’s. Abutting a dramatic sloping hill, this unique spot offers privacy on a dead end road and is a 2 minute walk to the water. Bring your boat and park it at the shared dock or use our canoe and life jackets for your aquatic adventures. All are welcome to experience this space and the surrounding areas.

About Lindsey and Steven
Very nice to meet you! We are New Englanders born and raised and love the outdoors, history, and spending time with friends and family. We love this lake and the community that thrives here and hope you will enjoy it too!
Why Lindsey and Steven chose New Marlborough
We fell in love with the idea of visitors vacationing here for generations and want to continue the tradition by sharing it with all who seek a lake getaway.
What makes this Cottage unique
When we were looking for property in 2015, we were drawn to this cottage because of its location. The landscape is wild, it’s peaceful and close to the lake. We also love the big open floor plan of the house, but when downtime is needed, you can retreat to the small bedrooms and enclosed porch.

Lindsey & Steven were incredible owners & we were all overwhelmed with their hospitality. Since their beautiful cottage was nestled in the mountain, they offered pictured directions (which was super helpful) on how to arrive. Upon arriving, the cottage was ready for us with the heat at a comfortable temp, a welcome gift, helpful hand written notes throughout the cottage & a ready made fireplace. Lindsey even made sure to communicate with us throughout our stay to make sure we were enjoying our time. They truly have gone above and beyond with the accommodations in their cottage. I would absolutely recommend anyone reading this review to stay here if your looking for a wonderful experience..!!!! My family has already discussed another ski trip at Ski Butternut resort & we for sure will be staying here again. Thank you Lindsey & Steven for being simply wonderful hosts!!
Loved our stay at the rustic cottage near the lake!!!
We were 3 women who came together to explore the surrounding areas and celebrate our joint birthdays. After searching for the house down a long driveway at night, we were so happy to discover this gem of a cabin. It had everything we needed and despite being a cold weekend, we were very comfortably warm inside. It made looking outside with glimpses of the lake that much more special. The correspondence that I had with the home owners were always helpful and timely. Lastly, were so incredibly and happily surprised to find an amazing gourmet chocolate cake waiting for us on arrival! I highly recommend this neat cabin and hope to come back!!!!
Clean, felt like home.
Owners very responsive and thoughtful. Everything was very clean and in working order. Close to Butternut Ski. Will be back another time.
Perfect stay in every way.
The cabin was exactly what our group of 6 was looking for: quaint, prime location, and a great way to get away and relax for any amount of time. Lindsey and Steven could not have been more helpful, welcoming, and attentive while communicating through Home Away. We’d stay at this place again in a heartbeat, and just may do so in the near future.
Amazing cottage in a beautiful setting.
This cottage is lovely. Tastefully done inside and located next to lake buel. The cottage is warm and we lit a fire which made it super cozy. My girls took their first ski lessons at Ski Butternut which is very close by. The house is also a short ride from Great Barrington which has a ton of restaurants and stores. Lindsey and Steven are great hosts. They left notes explaining things and a coffee cake!! They also were always available for questions. I hope to stay here again with the family. Just perfect.
Adorable cabin with great hosts
I stayed here in January, and man was it cold outside! I was there to work, so I was quite comfortable in front of the beautiful fire. The kitchen was perfectly stocked, and I made lots of nice dinners during my stay. Every day I made the very short trip into Great Barrington, to eat at one of the numerous excellent restaurants in my favorite of all towns in the Berkshires, or to take a class at one of several amazing yoga studios. It's a charming, rustic winter getaway, with hosts that will help you at any moment and make you feel completely at home.
