My family, (7 of us, including a 3-year-old) stayed at "Antiga Casa de Reis" for a week and found the house grand and elegant, beautifully decorated and furnished, with a spectactular, inspiring view of the sea. The gardens were charming. All the lovely bedrooms had luxurious linens and towels and the kitchen was well-equipped for cooking. We had a choice of several good supermarkets. The hosts were gracious and welcoming, (and exceedingly helpful) with an arrival offering of a bottle of the local wine and a large bowl of fruit. Also, we could pick oranges from the trees on the property to make juice. (There was a juicer.) There was, too, a very nice maid who came twice. We were minutes from the shining expanse of clearwater beaches in colourful, idyllic Sanxenxo and the excellent seafood restaurants along the shore. Pontevedra, a charming and intriguing town was 20 minutes away and Santiago, a 3/4 hour drive...worth it for the soaring cathedral and sprawling, ancient plaza. Galicia itself is a picturesque, unusual part of Spain, much like the west coast of the US and Canada...mountainous and lush. There were not a lot of tourists and everything seemed quite inexpensive. We have stayed in many houses in Paris, London, Africa and the US and this will be one of our favourites. We would highly recommend it as a place of both comfort and luxury, offering many outside benefits, including a beach holiday.
Reis place, sparsely populated, is located in the upper area of the municipality of Sanxenxo being its environment forest type. The house is situated halfway between the Place of Aldariz, small enclave of village houses.
To the south and 2 km is the Puerto Deportivo, Silgar beach with its beautiful promenade where shops, cafes and restaurants are located.
Sanxenxo is the most important coastal town of Galicia with a wide offer of leisure as the inner nature, architecture and history, the country's best beaches with white sands, fine cuisine, a modern marina where you can enjoy water sports and near the city the chance to practice horse riding, tennis and golf area.
