Something for everyone!
For those of you who want to stay put and RELAX, this is the best place in the world to do just that!
We had such a wonderful time here! Sherri has the house decorated so uniquely with all kinds of treasures. The house has everything you need! Loved visiting all the beautiful places on the island and made a trip up to Acadia National Park. The lobsters were out of this world and my grandkids loved seeing the touch tank. Everyone was so friendly on the island. We will certainly make this a place to come back to.
Beautiful home with gorgeous views from tower. Ocean views from all windows on third floor. Home owner is incredibly nice. The island itself is full of history and wonderful restaurants. The BIGs store seem to serve the biggest, sweetest blueberry pancakes on earth. On the first night we ate at the church and had homemade chowder and desserts and we felt like true islanders. Additionally, the islanders are friendly and open. If you are like for a break from the day-to-day grind, and are seeking beautiful sights and history, this is the place for you.
I have stayed there many times over the past few years and have really
enjoyed it. The house is spacious and charming with good amenities and very
well maintained. The owner is super nice and very helpful . Lots to do for both
kids and adults on and off the island. Restaurants on the Island serve great food.
You have access to a rocky shore to do some walking and beachcombing for seaglass and heart rocks. There is also a town sandy beach which is good
for swimming and sunbathing.
I recommend it highly to families, couples and singles who are looking for
an unforgettable vacation.
Bailey Island is a quiet lobstering community that delights visitors summering on the Maine coast. Sandy or rocky beaches, easy access to waterside hiking, kayaking, and bicycling make this half mile by two mile island a special place. Three restaurants, churches, boat charters (sail, touring, fishing), and a general store make life here 'island easy.' Everything to do on Bailey Island is only a short walk away.
For those who love to shop, the towns of Brunswick and Freeport offer major name brand outlet stores for bargain hunters, as well as malls and discount stores that are all within a few minutes drive to the mainland. The scenic and historical communities of Bath, Boothbay Harbor, Portland and Wiscassett are all within an hour drive; in addition, golf courses, movie theaters, performance theater, art galleries and museums, live music, cultural festivals, horseback riding and restaurants are also short distance away.
