A fascinating 5 bedroom, 3 bathroom detached hilltop property set in over 4 acres of grounds. This is an eclectic property consisting of the original agricultural cottage married to a collection of converted outbuildings to provide a rambling home ideally situated on the top of the Gog Magog Hills, in open countryside yet only 8 minutes drive from Addenbrookes Hospital. The layout is excellent for entertaining all year round - including a 7 person hot tub which is available throughout the year. Winter entertaining- The large sitting room and adjacent dining room are well suited to entertaining, featuring vaulted ceilings, oak flooring, high efficiency contemporary log burners and both rooms are dual aspect. These main reception rooms are also in a different wing to the bedrooms. Summer entertaining-There is a choice of areas including decking and patio around the pond plus south and west facing sheltered picnic areas in the meadow. Sunsets are amazing due to the elevated position, in the summer there is direct sunlight until the very end of the day.

Although on the edge of Cambridge the setting is rural and occupants are certain to see a wide range of wildlife in the grounds which are over 4 acres in size, for instance potentially rabbits, foxes, deer, Muntjac deer, pheasants, partridges and a variety of other birds.

The garden is an enclosed place for children to play. Part of the space is woodland and there is a massive open space suitable for ball games. The terrace is equipped with a Bar-B-Q and seating/table for at least 8 people, plus further seating.

The grounds also offer decking and patio areas around the large pond, with a further raised decking allowing you to take in views for miles of the surrounding villages.

Please note: The pond is up to 1m deep at the center and is a hazard to young children.

The plot is set back 0.26miles from the road on top the Magog hills (some of the only hills in Cambridge) making it a beautifully quiet and tranquil location.

  • The house offers 3 bathrooms, the first has a bath, shower, toilet and basin. The second is a large wet room with a walk in shower, toilet and basin. The third is a feature en-suite bathroom. The adjacent original pump house has been converted into a sumptuous en-suite bathroom that features: a) Glass topped 100ft deep well which is lit and the glass cover has an etched whirlpool design. This has been a great hit with the few guests that have experienced it. b) Walk through shower. c) Double ended bath on a raised plinth with a clear glazed skylight above.

The property is just under a mile away from its nearest food shop Gog Magog farm shop. Its also 1.6 miles away from the centre of its neighbouring village Great Shelford which has a selection of well know food stores, a family butchers, an award winning delicatessen and a train station taking only 6 mins to travel into Cambridge via rail. Stapleford and Great Shelford boast 4 pubs and a handful of restaurants between them.

The historic Gog Magog golf club is only 1.9 miles away (4mins by car). Which offers two 18 hole courses, opened in 1901 and has all the character you would expect from a course with so much history.

There is also the Cambridge Lakes Public Golf Course slightly further away at 4.8 miles (11mins) which is a much more relaxed, less formal and cheaper golf club.

Both have driving ranges.
