This villa was absolutely beautiful. Furnished to a very high standard with everything you could possibly need. Despite our flight being delayed by a few hours (resulting in us not arriving till 11pm) David & Beatriz couldn’t of been more accommodating. They supplied us with bread, milk, eggs, fruit and cake on our arrival. The icing on the cake was the thoughtful chocolate cake and gift that Beatriz had bought our daughter for her 22nd birthday. Thank you so much for a truly wonderful holiday - we can not recommend this villa enough!
Perfect holiday, fantastic villa and amazing views!
The villa is just perfect, the views from the balcony are truly memorable and the villa felt spacious and super comfortable for our family which includes 3 older teenage boys - who tend to take up a lot of space!
The villa was spotless and the best equipped of any we have stayed in - having plenty of glasses, crockery etc. which really makes a difference when you are a larger family. The air con works perfectly cooling the rooms very quickly and the pool and hot tub are fantastic to return to after a day out in the mountains.
The owners were extremely helpful and friendly but also very much leave you to enjoy your holiday while being around if you have any queries.
We enjoyed meals at the pizza restaurant in Loreto (kept the teenagers happy) and also a great lunch at Onda Azul after a morning on the beach in Calheta. We travelled all over the island, walked levadas above the clouds, visited the peaks and also had a fun day at the natural pools in Porto Moniz though the water was freezing (even in July!).
We echo the comments below about booking a diesel car with some power in it if you intend on driving over the mountains, the roads are extremely steep but well worth it for the views at the summits.
Overall we had a brilliant week and if we return to Madeira we would only want to stay in Caso Do Sol, it really is perfect. Many thanks for a fantastic holiday!
Simply lovely house
The house is beautiful - absolutely spotless and with a lovely view over the sea; the facilities are fantastic - hot tub, sauna and a nice pool. Calheta is the sunniest part of Madeira and there are good facilities around but nowhere is too far away on such a small island. I really can't find anything negative to say except that the house is 3 bedrooms rather than the 4 in the listing.
We booked Casa Do Sol for a family holiday for 7 adults. It was everything described and more. Attention to detail throughout from plentiful towels, crockery, glasses etc through to barbecue coal and candles. There were flowers on the table on arrival and a bowlful of fresh fruit and plate of local Madeira cakes.
The villa is very spacious and fully fitted with an abundance of storage. Board games and books are available and we made use of several local guide books on both walks and things to see and do. The pool was refreshing with fabulous views over the Atlantic. We used the sauna and hot tub during our stay.
David and Beatriz live next door and are available on request but do not intrude whatsoever on your privacy. Thank you so much. I’d willingly give more stars and would definitely stay again should we return to Madeira.
A little piece of heaven!
This is an outstanding villa with incredible views and absolutely everything you need to have a fabulous holiday. We were welcolmed by the most lovely hosts David and Beatrix who explained how everything worked then left us to enjoy our week there. They also gave us some very nice goodies and fresh flowers. A real 'home from home' touch.
Calheta itself has a lovely marina, a beach and lots of places to eat and is just a 5 min drive away.
We hired a car and visited the west and north of the Island as well as the south, all stunningly beautiful. Funchal has a real buzz to it and a lovely atmosphere. Toboggan run is a must! and do the cable car if you're not scared of heights. The views are just superb every which way you look in Madeira, you wont be disappointed.
There were ample towels and the most comfortable beds to sleep in.
We especially enjoyed the pool and the hot tub and also made use of the BBQ which has another large seating area next to it.
We will definitely be returning and with all the family next time as it is such a perfect house for 8 people.
Outstanding Villa , Look no further !
My wife and two son's spent the most fantastic week in this amazing property, you have everything in the description and more. The location is superb with breathtaking views of the ocean, We loved the complete privacy that this property offers something that I am sure is important to everyone. We explored this beautiful Island by hire car (diesel) recommend for the more demanding of hills. After a day or so we adjusted and we were driving like a locals.
Finally this villa has simply the best owners David and Beatriz always on hand but never intrusive. They have a real passion and commitment for the property and the beautiful Island of Madeira.
Madeira is a paradise for those who enjoy walking and hiking, and Arco da Calheta is ideally situated. Calheta Beach is just 5 minutes away, and within 15 minutes are the beaches at Ponta do Sol and Ribeira Brava, the esplanades at Jardim do Mar and Paul do Mar, the laurasilva forest of Madeira (a UNESCO world heritage site - http://whc.unesco.org/en/list/934) and the moonlike landscape of Paul da Serra (1500 meters).
