I am Janet the owner of this estate. I am a registered nurse,
avid gardener and artist. I manage the gardens and cleanliness of this guest house. I am very sensitive to my guests needs and privacy. I live in the garden apartment that
is part of this estate and am available if you need me but otherwise so not interfere in your vacation experience.
I love gardening and will have some organic vegetables
to share if you are interested as well as a dozen of organic
eggs from my chickens when you arrive. I have a small private duty nursing business and assist seniors at home in
my community. I retired from the mainstream of my nursing
career in the hospital in 2011 to do this.
I am an oil artist and my work can be seen in The Local Color
Gallery and several of the shops here in town as well as
some paintings I have done in the Mercy B Guesthouse.
In closing, I take great pride in all the details of making your stay as nice as possible, while maintaining a very low profile while you are here. I look forward to your visit and know that
you will fall in love with Chatham. Hoping you will become
Chathamized, which means that after one visit you will want
to return again and again.
Location. This wonderful estate is in the center of town with spacious outside space in many garden and guest areas. Amenities: Hammock, picnic table, gas grill, beach chairs and 2 outside showers. On Main Street one of the very few homes with water view and walking distance to the water, fish pier, light house, restaurants and shops.
We are across the street from the ball park where the Cape
Farm leagues show off their best new baseball players.
My home is light filled and there is thoughtful attention to
all details and cleanliness.
Location is across the street from the Ball Park where summer leagues play, In town location with water view.
Nearest beach only 2/10th of a mile walk. Large garden spaces where organic vegetable and herbs are grown with added interest of chickens and the Chatham Hare Rabbitry
Also a mini orchard of espalier apple and pear trees. This is a very unique location right in the center of town.
. It includes history, beauty and access to all the shops, restaurants, theaters, ball field and playground. Just park and never have to deal with the traffic once you arrive.. Literally everything including a full service
laundromat, pharmacy and grocery is within walking distance.
My family and I have been renting in Chatham for the past 10 years, this is by far
the cleanest and most charming rental we have visited. An added plus is the extensive
gardens in the spacious back yard and walking distance to everything.
There were many unexpected details that we were not expecting.
We will not hesitate to consider this location in the future!
My wife and I and our 3 adult children stayed and had a wonderful time. The house is very charming and quaint with plenty of room for the 5 of us. It is within walking distance of downtown Chatham, a small beach, grocery store and across the street from the Cape Cod league baseball field. Just to note, there is one AC window unit in the upstairs bedroom but the breezes off of Oyster Pond kept the house fairly cool and we were there for a hot and sticky week. As noted by others, the outdoor shower was a hit as were the gardens. Janet was a wonderful host.
Our first trip to Cape Cod couldn't have started better than staying in Janet's home. Welcoming (fresh organic eggs in the fridge from the chickens), Janet's paintings, quaint and comfortable. Our family of 5 was very comfortable for the entire week here. The outdoor shower is awesome!
A couple of small complaints...to get to the master bedroom, you have to go through the twin bedroom (easy enough to get over); house is very close to the main road into town - it can be tough to get out of the driveway and traffic starts pretty early in the morning (but being close means you're close to everything in Chatham!).
We will definitely be back in the future!
We stayed in Janet's house for memorial day week-end with my family and really enjoyed our stay. The location is great and you can walk to all the restaurants and nice places. We loved the amazing garden behind the house, my sons still talk about their encounter with the rabbits and the hens. Thanks Janet for such a wonderful stay and the amazing organic eggs we enjoyed for breakfast.
As first time vacation house renters, the bar is now set very high.
As soon as we entered the house we knew we made the right choice. The house is so charming. Its furnished and decorated beautifully. Cozy and comforting. The art is gorgeous and the light that streams in in the mornings whether upstairs or in the kitchen, is worth waking up early for.
I will admit I wasn't sure about the outside shower, It's not something we used to using. It turned out to be one of our favorite parts of the day. To be outside with the birds chirping overhead and overlooking the garden and the pond in the distance, it was hard to get out sometimes. Which brings me to the garden. WOW Janet. I don't know how she does it all. It's so fabulous. I enjoyed walking the gardens and taking photographs of all the wonderful vignettes.
The grocery store is super close and we filled the refrigerator as soon as we got to town.
We utilized the laundry mat directly across the street and I have to say it's the cleanest laundry mats I have ever been in. And it actually dried the clothes with the correct amount of change (not something we're used to at home).
It was a little noisy one night at the bar across the street but it really didn't bother us a we live in a summer town that gets noisy.
The construction down the road was a bit much but that might even be over already.
The distance to town was perfect. Walkable but yet far enough away from it all.
If we had bikes, which we will bring next time, we could have biked to the beach but we drove.
Janet was so kind and helpful and gave us the most delicious basil infused olive oil that we are still enjoying.
We can't wait to return and are hoping to bring more of our friends with us.
We have been coming to the Isaac Bea / Mercy Bea for 5 years because it feels like home.. The house is beautifully furnished with antiques, artwork, china, and glassware and all the windows and antique wood plank floors make the house delightfully light and airy. The location and setting are perfect for my 4 kids: close enough to walk into town to shop or get ice cream, across from the ballpark where we watch the Anglers' home games, and close enough to the beach to walk or ride our bikes. We spent a lot of nights cooking our own meals this year, rather than eating out, and ate out on the deck, overlooking Oyster Pond . Mornings, while the teenagers enjoy a lazy schedule, my younger kids attend the Anglers baseball camp, and I sit in the garden, sipping coffee, reading my book, and enjoying the beautiful secret garden. After a long day on the beach or paddling kayaks, we come home to the fabulous outside shower and then hang our wet towels and suits on the line to dry in the breeze. That same breeze blows through the open windows and shutters into the kitchen and living room, and we sit and play cards in the evening around the big kitchen table. Thank you Janet for another great vacation! See you next year!
We stayed in the Mercy Bae house in late June and the location was perfect for all of our adventures. Easy walking distance to everything in Chatham. The house is very close to the street so there was quite a bit of noise at night in the downstairs bedroom but upstairs was better. While the windows are semi-shuttered for privacy, it makes for a very early and bright morning with no full window coverings. Fine if you are an early riser but maybe tough for those who want to sleep in. The Mercy Bea does not have a washer/dryer as indicated in the description but we made do with the laundrymat across the street. The outdoor shower was different but fun!
Overall, we had a good time and Janet was a lovely and accommodating host.
Unique in town location.
Chatham is located on the elbow of Cape Cod surrounded three
sides by water, it has been a highly desirable location for generations of summer visitors. Chatham has maintained all the
charm and beauty of what one expects of old Cape Cod.
The town is unique with its one of a kind shops developed by the
individual keepers to bring a whole discovery experience in
shopping. The restaurants abound from fine dining to a clam roll
by the fish pier while watching Chatham's fishing fleet return with
their fresh catch.
We have a fine public golf course located 5/10th of a mile walking distance with ocean views, and some of the finest beaches on Cape Cod. You will love Hardings Beach
on Nantucket Sound or Atlantic Ocean beach with surf by the
Chatham Light house which is 9/10th of a mile from this location.
If you enjoy live theater, the Monomoy Ohio State Theater is located 1/2 a block from this location. You can walk to all
you need once here. We are located across the street from Veterans Field where the popular Chatham Anglers play. You do not have to deal with any traffic or
This location has been highly desired by guest for
the last 12 years and many who return so the need to book
early to get a place is encouraged.
