One step inside the door of this second floor luxurious condo, and you know this is no ordinary Destin area vacation rental. Your eyes are immediately drawn to the incredible views of the emerald waters and crystal-white sands of the Gulf of Mexico. The glass windows on two sides of this corner unit bring in lots of light and afford spectacular views of both the beach and the Santa Rosa Sound. Step out onto the spacious, 200 square foot balcony-feel the sea breezes blow across your face and hear the lapping waves beckoning you to slip on your suit and dive in.

If you can tear yourself away from the view of the turquoise waters and sugar-white sands of the magnificent Gulf of Mexico, you'll notice the upscale furnishings and amenities that make this a superior choice. From the granite and stainless in the kitchen, to the large, pub-style table in the dining room, to the light, leather sectional with chaise, everything here says "relax, you are going to enjoy this."

And the "creature-comforts" don't stop there. The master suite with private bath, is decorated in sophisticated island style and complete with king bed and flat screen, features its own private entrance to the balcony. So you can wake up to that amazing view-isn't that why you came?

Move to the second bedroom and you'll find two full-size beds and another flat screen. The third bedroom includes bunk beds, and the sofas in the living room feature a full-size sleeper and a twin sleeper. So there's plenty of room for the whole family, or more than one family! A second bath ensures that everyone has the privacy they need to enjoy a memorable vacation.

Sea Dunes is a six-floor complex with elevator and features a beautiful pool that is seasonally heated. We provide beach service with this unit from March to October so you can enjoy the luxury of two of your own private chairs and umbrella. If you forget any supplies, there is a 24-hour convenience store next door, so you never have to leave!

Fort Walton is just across the bridge from Destin, so you are close to everything here. The Fort Walton Downtown Business and Entertainment District offers shopping, dining, arts, nightlife and year-round events at the lovely waterfront park, adjacent to the main streets of town. Watch the Dolphin and Sea Lion shows at the Gulfarium. Explore the Indian Temple Mound Museum in the heart of historic downtown Fort Walton Beach. Catch dinner or breathtaking sunsets from the Okaloosa Island Pier, stretching 1262 feet into the gorgeous Gulf of Mexico-no fishing license required! Or relax with wood-fired steaks and seafood at the beachfront Black Pearl Restaurant.

Want to explore the area? Take a short day trip to nearby Pensacola and tour the National Naval Aviation Museum. And if aviation and the military peaks your interest, check out the Air Force Armament Museum at Eglin Air Force Base.

The pace of life is a little quieter here on Okaloosa Island, but if you want to mix and mingle with the crowds or stroll the fishing docks, you are simply a short drive from neighboring Destin. Come to Fort Walton on Okaloosa Island and experience the many opportunities that await you on the emerald shores of this stretch of the incredibly scenic panhandle of Florida. Or you can simply exhale and relax...

Perfect Place to Stay

  • 5 of 5

From the first contact, to the check in, to the stay... this place was fabulous. Extraordinarily clean and well provisioned. A very adequate kitchen and a utility room. Great pool, hot tub, beach, and the Gulf, all located in handy spots. Convenient to everything in Fort Walton Beach and Destin. Comfortable, clean beds and a fanstastic view! Stay here. You will not regret it!

Our stay here was okay, not great. Here are some pros and cons from our trip:

It had a wonderful view.

It was in a good location for Okaloosa Island.

It was quiet and the other folks were very nice.

The management company was easy and quick to help with the problems that we had with the unit.

The master sheets had not been changed and they were dirty.

The management company was quick to come in and change the sheets (and blame who they outsourced the work to) but that wasn't a great way to begin our stay.

There is only ONE rug in this place, by the entryway. This may not seem like a big deal, but when you are at the beach and there is sand everywhere the lack of rugs made it really hard to keep sand out of the bedsheets. Plus the floors got really slick if they got wet. We rinsed sand off well before coming up to the unit but still, sand was tracked in. It was really REALLY annoying.

The freezer was broken and they didn't turn off the ice maker in the freezer. So in the morning, when the freezer had stopped working there was water all over the floor. The management company knew about this but failed to tell us there was a problem until we told them about the water on the floor and the melting ice.

The bedrooms other than the master were really small. The room with the bunk beds was just a tad larger than my master closet at home. It didn't bother us, my kids didn't mind, but the pictures made it look a big bigger. Just be aware the rooms aside from the master are small. Also, there is a security light right outside of the second bedroom and no curtains (only blinds). Because of the security light, the room is bright as day during the night.

The doors to the balcony stuck and were hard to open. The one to the bedroom was far worse than the one in the family room, so we didn't open that one more than once. You had to be really careful not to catch your hand in the door as well.

The window shades for the balcony in both the family room and the master were really cheap and flimsy. I was afraid they were going to fall apart when I lowered them in the pm and raised them in the am.

I had not been to Ft. Walton in about 20 years and couldn't BELIEVE how much it had changed. There was a strip club not 2 miles from this unit and tattoo parlors everywhere. It was really disappointing.

After it was all said and done for what we paid per night I expected it to be much nicer.

Perfect Condo and location, but we had some privacy issues.......

  • 3 of 5

Location, view, cleanliness, pool, easy access to beach, and value are all 5 star, This is a great location and would love to visit again ! Family had a great time and this condo was perfect for a family of 5.

The only issue we had (why I dropped 2 stars) was privacy. On 2 separate occasions, we had service individuals (not owner or property manager) enter the condo while we were inside.

1st Occasion -

I was taking an afternoon nap as well as my 2 younger kids, 6 and 3. I woke up to an employee of Servpro (unkonwn at the time) in the kitchen (past the 2 bedrooms where the kids were sleeping) looking for a "green machine" ? After peeking around and not finding it, he left. I was half asleep, confused, but concerned me later on in the evening.

2nd Occasion

I was grocery shopping, my wife and 3 kids were on balcony with balcony door closed. As she came into the condo there was a man standing in the kitchen saying he needed to "look at the A/C". As you could imagine, this scared her half to death, she didn't know his validity...etc so she shut the door and stayed on the balcony until he left as this was the safest place with people on the beach.

I felt a strong frustration the 2 events that our privacy was invaded and didn't feel comfortable the rest of the week, especially not knowing if anyone was getting in while we were away we had to constantly take all our valuables with us, we weren't sure who all had the master code...etc.

The condo has a keypad that controls the lock and deadbolt, but no additional security on the inside to keep anyone with the master code out. I would have expected a courtesy call from the property manager to ask for a good time for these individuals to enter and would have been more than happy to accommodate. Both individuals said "they knocked", but I still don't believe this gave them the right to enter without the renter's permission, just my opinion I guess but how I see things with a family in an unknown area for us.

I'm hoping my feedback here is constructive and the owner/property manager will be open to putting an additional deadbolt on the inside for future renters. My hopes are these service individuals had to call the property manager to get the code to get in and/or a master code changes frequently, my primary feedback is to reach out to the renters before providing the code so they can ensure no valuables are lying out and/or propose a time that may be better suited for the guest

Survived a storm and had a great week afterwards

  • 4 of 5

We got in on a Saturday afternoon and bad storms hit overnight. This unit stayed dry even though we heard some others took some water. They even came and checked on us to make sure in case we need to evacuate.

The rest of the week was great. The balcony had a really good view of the ocean and I don't think we every ran out of hot water with multiple people taking showers.

Access is easy and getting to food and Gulfarium was a breeze. Destin may have a lot of places but depending on traffic going back to Mary Esther or up to Wright still gave lots of options for food and shopping. Plus having the mini-mart right nearby the condo helped for last minute items.
