About David Gilden
I grew up in South Florida and spent my summers in Western North Carolina. I loved it so much that as an adult I chose to purchase a home in the mountains for my family.
David Gilden purchased this House in 2007
Why David Gilden chose Asheville
We love the house because of the amazing view and ability to be in downtown Asheville in minutes. The house has cathedral ceilings and wide open spaces. The house is set on 1 2/3 wooded acres which allows tremendous privacy. We have enjoyed many family vacations and you will too. Imagine making smores in the firepit while overlooking the beautiful Biltmore Estate. You can be hiking in Pisgah National Forest or enjoying the vibrant restaurant scene in downtown Asheville in just minutes. Combine a little snow skiing with perhaps a craft brewing agenda?
What makes this House unique
Our view is one of the best in all of Asheville and is visible from several vantage points within the house as well as outside. Children friendly with playroom/enclosed breakfast room right off the kitchen.

Spacious home with lovely view. Necessities provided by owner much appreciated. Entire family (4 adults and 3 kids) enjoyed the deck and living area. Very relaxing!
Big house with Big View!
Our family enjoyed a long weekend in this lovely home. Big house with plenty of room for 6 adults and 2 small children. Definetly a kid friendly home with crib, high chair and toys on hand. The view of Asheville from the deck is stunning. Would definitely stay there again. Only suggestion for owner: there was little communication from owner prior to check in time. I had to email him and heard back with access info to property 15 minutes prior to our arrival. I was sweating it especially because there was no phone number listed to contact. Other than that - it was great.
We had an amazing family vacation to Asheville. The Gilden's were incredibly accommodating and their place was perfect for our stay. Would definitely recommend anyone staying there.
Thanks for your review. We are always looking to enhance our mountain home for our future guests. Once again, if you want spectacular views and fast access to downtown Asheville and all the surrounding fun things to do, our home fits the bill.
This is a well appointed house in a great location with stunning views. The driveway is steep and kind of scary at first but we were just fine with a minivan. In the wintertime probably a 4X4 would be more reassuring. Restaurants and grocery shopping are within 10 minutes driving. We had a great time and enjoyed our stay.
Great location and views.
We spent a week here celebrating my 60th birthday, 25th wedding anniversary, youngest college graduation and middle son's engagement. The house is in a central location making it easy to get to Arboretum, Blue Ridge Parkway, Biltmore Estate and downtown Asheville. View from the deck of Asheville and Biltmore Estate. We were even able to see a fireworks display taking place at the Biltmore. Generous sized rooms and baths. Well appointed home with everything you need. Kitchen was easy to cook in. We grilled burgers one night and ate out most others. From the deck, we saw fireflies, black and white warbler, indigo buntings, eastern towhee and tufted titmouse. Wild turkey and deer along the road. The driveway is very steep and scary at first. However, we mastered it with no issues. There is a firepit on side yard which we did not use. I would rent here again if we were to have a large group. Owner answered all my questions promptly.
Thank you for the wonderful review. While the driveway can be intimidating on the first time down, it is what enables us to have arguably one of the best views in all of Asheville. My wife is an interior designer and takes a lot of pride in our home. Our recently remodeled master bathroom is just one example of why we think our house fits the bill for people visiting our dynamic city.
Long Weekend Wonder
This is such a beautiful and well maintained property. Yes the views are just as stunning as the pictures! We came in for a wedding / long weekend and had absolutely everything we needed. Greatly appreciate the well appointed kitchen and pantry. The house is large and spacious, updated and centrally located to what we needed. Hiking in the Pisgah Nat. Forest near by was fantastic. I would absolutely rent this again!
Thanks for your comments. We think we have a special place. My wife, Roni, a professional interior designer, looks at all the details and you can expect more improvements if you rent our home the next time.
Winter, Spring Summer or Fall, home is perfect for hiking in nearby National Parks and celebrating all that Asheville has offer. Summer time fun includes tubing and rafting in area. Fall foliage is amazing, even from our backyard. Winter sports are nearby- cozy spot for holiday gatherings and family fun. Spring blossoms pair well with exploring the area during peak bloom.
