Located in Walla Walla’s favorite neighborhood, the Juniper Guest House is like no other vacation rental. The house is just blocks from the downtown area, the beautiful Whitman College campus, and the famous John Olmsted designed, Pioneer Park. Step inside and take a look, you will not be disappointed.
The Juniper Guest House was built in 1909, the same year that Pioneer Park was opened to the public. This beautiful mission-style, arts and crafts home is the perfect place to stay, while you explore Walla Walla and the lush valley that surrounds it.
The house features four bedrooms, each showcasing queen sized beds with exquisite bedding, a dining room accommodating six, parlor including game table and desk, living room, full kitchen sporting island seating for four, and finally, three well appointed bathrooms (one with jetted tub), and large finished basement with wet-bar for entertaining and room for banquets.
Outside, you will find a gorgeous and beautifully outfitted front porch, a back deck for entertaining, and fully fenced yard.
My name is John Sterlin. I was born and raised in Walla Walla Washington!
My husband and I chose to turn our future retirement home in to a vacation rental to help defer the costs of maintaining two residences. We opened a business on Main Street in Walla Walla so purchasing a house to stay in while we worked at our business seemed the right thing to do. We love Walla Walla and most of all, we love the house! The moment we walked in the front door we fell in love with the house just as we know you will!
We absolutely LOVE the front porch of this house. Every morning we have coffee while enjoying the beautiful street and every evening we sit and enjoy a glass or two of wonderful Walla Walla wine! The living room, parlor, and dinning rooms are all just beautiful with their un-touched arts and crafts style wood trim built-in seating. This house is our zen and it will be yours as well.
The house was perfect, and we had a fantastic weekend. It had all of the amenities that we might have wanted. It was on a great, quiet street, only a mile from the Whitman Campus, and had the best front porch and back yard. It was also very easy to get in and out. Great place to stay!
What a wonderful experience staying at this property in Walla Walla. We were only minutes from the downtown area with restaurants, shops, tasting rooms and more. The home was charming in its layout and decor. The house was very spacious and comfortable. We spent several meals cooking in the well equipped kitchen, grilling on the provided gas grill and eating out on the deck. We would definitely stay here on our next trip to Walla Walla. This home definitely helped to make our trip even more wonderful.
House was very clean, accurately described, reasonably priced, and in great location for walking to downtown as well as day trips around the region. We had no objections whatsoever. That part of town has a lot of really nice older homes and we often took different walks to downtown to check out the neighborhoods. Also, I should add that the growth and quality of wineries took us somewhat by surprise, so a little advance research would be a good thing. No issues at all with the rental process. I would recommend this rental to others and am considering a return trip on my end as well.
We thoroughly enjoyed our 5 night visit at this lovely home. The rooms were beautifully furnished and very comfortable. Downtown was close, plenty of good restaurants, and I was amazed at the number of wineries just a few minutes away.
The only downside was that my husband is handicapped. We stayed on the main floor, where most activities took place. However, to get there you had to go up a very narrow stairwell with about 7-8 stairs that were quite steep, with no handrail. We also had a clawfoot tub in the master bath which really needed grab bars to safely get in and out. There were walk-in showers downstairs and upstairs but that meant more stair climbing.
We had 9 family members that met up in Walla Walla, WA (halfwayish point between Portland and Boise). The 4 bedrooms and huge basement space made it comfortable for everyone to get a good night's sleep! There was a lovely, large living room, an eat-in kitchen, a small sunroom and wonderful backyard deck and grassy area for everyone to socialize, or not, as desired. Having the ability to have private spaces for down-time was key to a stress-free weekend. Having the full kitchen saved us lots of money we would have spent on restaurants. All in all one of the best family gatherings we've ever had! I would definitely recommend this place. It's the home I wish I had without the hassles of owning a large home ;)
The house exceeded our expectations. We had three couples, us and our two married children and their spouses. Each couple had a self-contained area (upper, main, lower), each with its own bathroom. The main floor is really great and beautifully furnished. The kitchen was perfect for group meal prep and hanging out and pretty well appointed. The various sitting areas indoors and out are great for conversation, reading, whatever. The front porch, a sanctuary. The ONLY drawback was the pillows, which were very bouncy and uncomfortable and the sheets, which we thought were polyester and also not comfortable. Otherwise, everything about the house and yard was flawless. The alley access and parking are an added bonus. This property is ideal for multiple couples and good sized families. Plenty of space; tasteful touches; and turn of the century charm. We loved it.
