380m² luxurious property, in quiet area near village, Wonderful view of Alpilles

In the heights of Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, in a peaceful and privileged environment, the Mas de Gil is also close to the town centre.

In a 3000m² wooded park with Provencal essences, the property has an unobstructed view of the Massif des Alpilles.

The stone facade with large openings onto the garden and wrought-iron pergolas with vines, represent the art of living in Provence.

The different landscaped areas; lavender fields and olive trees, many terraces offer relaxing and varied areas.

With its 380m² surface, the farmhouse is entirely air-conditioned. The interior is warmth and refined: a subtle blend of antique charm with modern comfort.

The light-flooded living rooms are spacious:

The living room, main room of the house, is very comfortable. It boasts an open fireplace and doors opening onto the southern side of the garden.

The contemporary kitchen is very convivial,

and has a central island for nice reunions. It opens onto a dining room for 12 persons. In order to fully enjoy, huge bay windows disappear and ... the living room opens up on the Alpilles!

On the ground floor, you will find the TV room with a sofa-bed and the master bedroom with a 180x200 bed and a full bathroom, a large walk-in closet, and a direct access to a wellness area.

Upstairs, there are 3 bedrooms. Two of them with a dressing room and 1 bathroom or shower room with toilets.

The mezzanine and the large entrance hall are very much appreciated for games and reading.

The guest house has a traditional kitchen, a cosy living room with a sofa-bed (160x200), a shower room with toilets and a bedroom in the attic with a large double bed (160x200).

For your relaxation:

The 15.5m x 7m swimming pool, with salt electrolysis, sun loungers, an Indian bed and a large summer living room.

The relaxation room is equipped with a Spa Jacuzzi for 6, a sauna and a cross trainer.

The maintenance of the garden and the pool is included as well as the end-of-stay cleaning.

High-quality amenities: brand name linen and towels are provided, new bedding, top-of-the-range white goods.

The magic of this place operated 15 years ago and we decided to move to Saint-Remy-de-Provence and particularly in this unique and charming place, true panoramic view point of the Alpilles!

Stone lovers and rental professionales for 20 years, we took the gamble to build a Provencal farmhouse in the traditional way but with all modern conveniences where everybody can feel at home.

The heart of Provence has always beats in Saint-Remy; a peaceful place, known worldwide for its noble heart and the beauty of the surrounding sites.

The Plateau de la Petite Crau overlooks the plain between the Alpilles and the Durance on the southern side of the city. Former place of transhumance, it was used by the herds going to the Alps. It is a wonderful place for walks.

The Mas de la Carraire is really the family home where it is wonderful to get together.

You will enjoy both the location and the rental.

Beautiful Chateau with stunning landscape and pool- with just a few issues

The chateau is stunning with a beautiful décor and has an elegant modern, rustic design, the floor to ceiling glass doors/ windows on the ground floor open to the lovely outdoor dining patio and pool making it even more wonderful. The kitchen is beautifully stocked. I can't say enough about the landscaping- there are lavender plants everywhere and olive trees, grape plants. The pool area has several areas to relax, well spaced lounge chairs and an covered alcove with a large u-shaped sectional where we took turns napping. The pool is large and beautiful with surrounding big green yard space with badminton net, where the children and adults would play volleyball and ping pong table in back. There is a wonderful woman named Stephane who was able to assist with questions and in our case secured babysitters for a night. So the reasons, I did not give 5 stars: The VRBO site refers to 5 bedrooms- we misunderstood this to be what I consider proper bedrooms i.e. there are 3 bedrooms upstairs and a large master bedroom downstairs and a guest house with an attic bedroom. We did not realize that the 5th bedroom is considered to be a tv den with a sofa-bed. I could not reasonably place an adult couple in this room. The guest house is considered to be separate and has an additional charge per night. The attic room in the guest house has a slanted roof and feels a bit dark and claustrophobic when compared to the bedrooms in the house. Other issue: 2nd floor A/C worked fine but there is no dedicated A/C or fan in the master bedroom on the ground floor as the whole ground floor is serviced by one unit that seemingly was not working well. Towards the end of our stay, we had 3 uncomfortable nights in the master bedroom. We reserved the guest house for 4 nights, and here too the A/C did not work well and our friend said nights were uncomfortable. Lastly, I was requested to give a $2500 ''check'' as deposit on day 5 of our stay. Normally, deposit requests are done prior to arrival and done thru the VRBO website. Realistically, I would not give a personal check. On day 6 ( 1 day before leaving)I received and request for funds via the VRBO website for the same amount. I should not be dealing with this while on vacation and that was disappointing as we otherwise enjoyed being here. I do think these things can be fixed and only mention knowing that these issues can be reconciled in the future for other who stay at this amazing chateau.

Owner's Response: It’s just a misunderstanding Neena… Regarding the deposit, it has to be given at the check-in or through the website with the definitive booking. The AC is brand new, but if it’s 38°C (the hotest week of the summer), as Stephane highly recommend you, it is absolutely necessary to close the windows and the doors for it to work. There is all the information in the website regarding the beds: the sofa-bed in the TV room and the guest-house. Anyway, we are happy that you enjoyed the house where you welcomed all your friends during this week (who had another house just to sleep) for your birhtday !

Five Star Property

My first impression was positive!

The house and grounds were stunning. Six friends and I rented the house for a two week stay. We are 68-69 years old, and have been friends 50+ years. The rooms were spacious, instant hot water, comfortable beds with beautiful linens, modern and upgraded kitchen stoves and refrigerators and freezer.

The windows allowed beautiful views from throuout the house. Stephane, the housekeeper, was always available to answer questions and help when needed.

We were welcomed with lovely flowers and a gift basket filled with local items.

This property exceeded my expectations!

We enjoyed every moment staying in this house and highly recommend this property.

I am a retired Delta Flight Attendant and have traveled the world. Saint Remy was one of my favorite trips!

The house, and especially the grounds, are even more beautiful than shown in the pictures. The kitchen is extremely well equipped. The owner is a delight to correspond with, and provided many thoughtful touches, including fresh flowers, cold beverages, fresh fruit, and a lovely gift basket of local products. The house is a short drive to St Remy with its many shops and restaurants. It is also conveniently located for day trips to other villages within Provence. Highly recommended!

Exceptional Property!!

I recently spent a week at Mas de Gil with two other couples (30years to 50's) and it was heavenly. What a lovely property and home. The photos do not do the home justice--it is much more lovely than I imagined When we arrived, we had lovely flowers and a welcome basket. The kitchen was extremely well stocked and provided a lovely backdrop for many a memorable meal. Each bedroom was perfect--we did not want to leave. The home is close to St. Remy and perfectly suited for day trips throughout Provence.

Beatrice was very responsive and extremely gracious. If ever you want a perfect stay this is the home for you!! We will certainly return.

Our family of five (two adults and three teenagers) just returned from a lovely week in Provence. The house is even BETTER than it appears in the pictures. The rooms are spacious, beautifully decorated, and perfectly appointed. The back yard and pool are large and beautifully landscaped with comfortable lounging areas and even a supply of pool toys. The kitchen is beyond well stocked for entertaining and cooking. The house is spotless, the bathrooms are expansive, and every amenity is provided. Beatrice and Louise were both lovely and made our stay simply perfect. They even provide a welcome basket and a book detailing the best places for dining and shopping in the area. Do not miss the morning market in the town of St. Remy on Wednesdays!
