About Lara Brown
David and I fell in love with the charm and slower pace of Irvington and realized the potential of having a VRBO spot. The Village of Irvington is a wonderful destination to relax, unwind, and unplug so why not share it with others. We enjoy renovating properties and decided this would be a great investment for our children in the future.

So so so Perfect!
Could not have loved this place more! So clean. Even better than the listing images. So relaxing. Decorated adorable. Close to the town of Irvington. We had a great time and will be back!
Beautiful home, immaculate
A little slice of heaven
The cottage could not have been any more perfect. Everything we needed and so much more. Lara was easy to communicate with throughout the process and lovely to meet her in person. We always love visiting Irvington but staying at Mad Calf Cottage made our vacation all the more special. Highly recommend.
What a beautiful little cottage in a great location. All new and fresh inside that made it very accommodating. A terrific place for a quiet getaway, yet right in the heart of Irvington.
Our getaway was wonderful at the Mad Calf cottage . Lara made everything so simple and elegant . A sign welcomed us with treats for our anniversary. Biking, porch time and sunset dinner on the dock were highlights . The cottage is so clean and calming . From someone from high cleanliness standards I rarely say that. We left refreshed!
Lovely place to get away and relax!
Lovely, immaculate place to get away and relax! It has everything to make you feel at home. The wine, fresh flowers, and snacks are a welcome touch. There are games and coloring books. Love coloring! The bedroom, bed, and linens are divine! I usually miss my sleep number bed when I travel but slept like a baby. The bathroom is like a spa. The lawn is beautiful and sitting outside and listening to the White Throated Sparrow bird was very much a delight. It was so peaceful and quiet!
Lara was so helpful in providing recommendations. The Brown's went to the effort of putting together a Welcome Book with hearts beside some of their favorites. The map was great for finding little gems like Hughlett Point Preserves and WestLand Beach. There are activities at the Tides Inn minutes away. I attended the Spring Festival and took a Cove Cruise there.
Some of my favorites were Vines, Objects for homemade artwork and learned about the history of watermen’s way boots, Cathi’s Flowers as she prepared for Easter with Lilies everywhere, and Hope and Glory Inn for a garden tour. Great time visiting Z and Paul on a tour of Yellow House Farm. I brought home some of their fresh eggs.
Oysters and sugar toads are unique to the area. The sugar toad is a delicious local puffer fish. Some of my favorite restaurants were, Car Wash Cafe for crab cake, Adrift for sugar toads, Wallaby’s on the waterfront for oyster stew, and River Market for Baby Back Ribs.
Will come back because there is still more to see of the Northern Neck and what better place to stay than this wonderful cottage.
