Overview

Manhattan House Rental Photos and Description

Here's a theatrical performance that will mesmerize you. Tucked away in the elegant back streets of the West Village where many a noted thesp has resided down the years – you'll count Phillip Seymour Hoffman among your neighbours – this gorgeous turn-of-the-century townhouse is festooned in sumptuous antique fauteuils, objets d'arts and embroidered carpets. As vibrant as Bowery vaudeville and as gracefully put together as a Sarah Bernhardt soliloquy, this is the perfect place to exit stage left after a long day soaking up the street scenes of New York.

Dramatis Personae

Your hosts are a pair of creative professionals, denizens of West Village life who have poured their considerable creative talents into this glorious production.

A character study

From the moment you step inside you're drawn into the action. Dark oak beams overhang a cosy sitting room where you can curl up on the plush crimson leather couch and tapestry lounge chair. This is just the dress rehearsal, however, and as you glide upstairs you'll find a baby grand guarding the way to a show-stopping sitting room replete with fauteuils, floral throw carpets, antique hand-carved tub chairs and brimming bookshelves. Through a set of pocket doors take an encore in a second sitting room where a curvaceous curio cabinet overlooks a sofa bed and dining table lit by a set of beautiful Jugendstil lamps. Beyond the views of the bucolic back garden there's an airy, fully-equipped kitchen and bathroom, and through the French doors downstairs an ensuite master bedroom with a queen-size bed footnoted by an antique chest of drawers.

Settled first by nineteenth century Irish migrants working as longshoremen on New York's notorious waterfront, the West Village is one of the city's most historic and beautiful neighbourhoods. A haven of foodies, gastronomic delights abound on virtually every corner and if it's real dramatic action you're craving, the village hosts some of the best Off Broadway venues, including the Rattlestick Playwrights Theater where you’ll find the hottest tickets in town.

Why The Owner chose Manhattan

Settled first by nineteenth century Irish migrants working as longshoremen on New York's notorious waterfront, the West Village is one of the city's most historic and beautiful neighbourhoods. A haven of foodies, gastronomic delights abound on virtually every corner and if it's real dramatic action you're craving, the village hosts some of the best Off Broadway venues, including the Rattlestick Playwrights Theater where you’ll find the hottest tickets in town.

What makes this house unique

Booking a stay is as easy as booking a hotel room, with online payment and confirmation. You get the same attention to detail and personal service too.

Every home is properly cleaned before and after you stay, beds made (we can even do hospital corners) and bathrooms kitted out with luxury toiletries. There’s a maid service if you want it, as well as other hotel-style amenities.

Once we’ve helped you settle in, we’re just a call away, 24/7. If it’s something we can’t solve over the phone, we’ll pop over to lend a hand.

And because nobody wants to be a tourist, our homes come with personal and unique recommendations from the people who live in them – places to eat, things to do and adventures to go on.
