My Grandfather developed the island, my fondest memories were there at the lake. My Mother had a cottage and I was lucky enough to aquire one as well.
Patricia Clark purchased this cottage in 1988
The cottage is away from most of the other cottages. It sits off the main road near a small wood patch. My idea of heaven! A few years ago the property behind our cottage was developed and I was blessed by the nicest neighbors one could ask for! They keep to them self and most often are found deep in the woods on their lake front.
Fishing is excellent BUT no swimming because our waterfront is a mud bottom. The area has beautiful, scenic farms, rolling hills with many vineyards and a large Amish population. Great place to drive or hike!
I love the area it is beautiful. When you look across the lake there is a mountain. In the fall the leaves change and the reflection on the water is breathtaking. Then there are the wine tour runs...our NY wine is excellent!
Patti- We really enjoyed our week at your place on Lamoka lake. The cottage was very roomy, clean and had just about everything you would need. Plenty of hot water and comfortable beds. We really were impressed by the size of the yard and privacy it provided. I certainly would recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway.

We really enjoyed our stay in your lake house. Very close to many wineries , really liked Hammondsport and Watkins Glen. We hiked the Gorge, it was awesome! !!!. The cottage was nice, it had everything we needed. The gas fireplace was needed on a few chilly evenings. The fishing was fair on the lake, probably the rain and wind didn't help. I did catch my first chain pickeral though. Thanks for letting us enjoy your cottage.

It was just wonderful! Patti was very accommodating and open to any requests before and during our stay. Cottage is huge and comfortable, boats and other stuff available and easy to use. The lake is great and the waterfront view is just amazing! Fishing is great, especially from the boat. We would come again and again, when possible. Thank you Patti very much!
The location was mostly private and had a beautiful view of the sunset. The cottage was not extremely well maintained or as clean as we would have liked. Being back in a cove, a screened porch would have been preferred to enable visitors to better enjoy the evenings without being bothered (eaten alive) by mosquitoes and other insects during the summer months. However, we did enjoy the use of the kayaks and canoe for fishing on the lake. Also, it is a short distance to many wineries, including Bully Hill which was lovely for an afternoon tour, wine tasting and lunch.
Stayed on Weller Island for a last minute 4th of July week getaway. Patti was very responsive and she and Nate were able to get us everything we needed to get in quickly (literally the next day).
The cottage had everything we could have wanted. Large yard, including a small swing set, which my 2 year old daughter loved. Plenty of bedrooms. Good kitchen space with a good gas grill (along with a charcoal grill I didn't use). Good bathrooms with the all important good shower. The place also had a number of amenities for kids that made it ideal for us (crib, kids toys, high chair, booster seat, toddler bed, etc.).
Fishing off the dock was pretty good actually. Caught a couple of decent sized pickerel and a couple of big bass, including one that was definitely the biggest bass I've ever caught. They have a number of boats too which we used to explore the lake a little bit.
The privacy, the quiet, the amenities, and the proximity to nice towns like Watkins Glen and Hammondsport made our stay at Lamoka Lake exactly what we needed. We'll definitely keep this place on our short list of places we would come back to in a heart beat.
Thanks to Patti and Nate for allowing us to enjoy their space for the week.
this was our second year at the cottage for our family vacation (our grown kids and grandchildren, a 2 1/2 year old and 2 16 year olds, 9 of us altogether) and we all ready to return next year. The cottage gives us plenty of room to be together or have some alone time. The yard is great for playing outside with enough room to play Frisbee, ball or just running around. The lake offered a variety of fish when out in our small motor boat and pan fish from the dock - some weeds to contend with but they weren't bad. My favorite activity was kayaking, there are so many options in this lake - small coves with birds and water lilies, islands to paddle around, the channel. It never got boring. Of course, the best part was having the family together but can't think of a better place to go where we can just relax and enjoy our time together.
We are with in 20-45 minutes from the major wine trails. Watkins Glenn is just over the hill (20 minutes),
Nearest highway is Route 17 and Route 226. The nearest road intersection would be Rt. 226 and Laomoka Lake road, our cottage is about 1/2 mile off of Lamoka Lake Rd. a level dirt road in good condition. We have a boat lauch too!
Curtis Air Museum near Hamondsport (15-20 minutes), Hamondsport is a charming town with many curio shops and the Kueka Maid Cruise boat that also offer lunch or dinner Kueka Lake Cruises.
Corning is only a 40 minute drive and they have the Glass Museum, and many fine restaurants, outlet stores and the Remington Museum. The Windmill is about 15 minutes away open only on weekends with many Amish vendors, crafts, and local wine merchants. The Best thing to do is just some R & R at the lake!
Other Activities: wine trails
Golf: Goal course in Penn Yan (20 minutes from cottage). New course recently open in Wayne (10 minute drive)
