The cottage was originally built in the 1920s, with a Great Room, Master Bedrm. loft with vanity and W/C added in 1978 . This charming, beautifully decorated Michigan lakeside cottage has been in our family for over 50 years. Named "Waldheim" (home in the forest), it is located in the hardwood forest above beautiful Crystal Lake, a short mile from the public beach and launching ramp. With a large level rear yard, fire pit, brick fireplace and wonderful 3-sided "sleeping porch" it is a return to what Summer cottages used to be. Built using "single wall" construction, the cedar siding is also the interior wall finish, and there are numerous single glazed, true divided lites with screens through out that provide light and ventilation.
The cottage has a simple galley kitchen with D/W, a full complement of cookware, including a vintage toasted sandwich press, and paella pan. We do not have a garbage disposal as we prefer to compost vegetable trimmings and leftovers in the compost bin adjacent to the firewood storage.
A W/D is located in the Garage/workshop below the Mstr. Bdrm. loft, while the bath is on the lower level, and includes a small shower, vanity and W/C. There is an enclosed outdoor shower also that is everyone's favorite. The cottage is equipped with a gas fired tankless water heater so hot water is never a problem.
We are nicely located for touring Northern Michigan, Sleeping Bear Dunes is 30 minutes away, while the historic Point Betsy Lighthouse is a short 10 minute drive and is a perfect sunset viewing spot. There are numerous beaches along the nearby shore of Lake Michigan that are perfect for swimming and cook outs.
The cottage is well located, and perfect ( I speak from experience) for a foursome of golf buddies. Arcadia Bluffs is 20 minutes away, and there are 3 fun and very playable golf courses located just outside Beulah at the east end of the lake, while The Bear in Traverse City is an hour away and The Hemlock Golf Club is an hour and fifteen.
