About The Owner

We started coming to this area years ago to rock climb. Now we love to get away with the whole family when we get the chance. The kids love being able to run free in the back yard and experience nature.

The Owner purchased this house in 2003

Why The Owner chose Hudson Valley

We love the New Paltz area! We started coming here years ago to rock climb in the gunks. Since we have had kids we have discovered, many beautiful hikes, swimming holes, farms, horseback riding, berry and apple picking. It is really great to have an escape from the city, the kids love it, we don't even have to leave our back yard to have a relaxing nature filled vacation!

What makes this house unique

Our house is back from the road, and opens onto huge deck that overlooks a beautiful back yard. We have a new cedar jungle gym that entertains the kids for hours, as well as a large sand pit. Behind our yard we have acres of woods to walk, ski, snowshoe and toboggan in. We loved that our house has some country charm and does not feel at all suburban. Our property has a stream that runs along besides it, you can walk along this stream to get to a beautiful waterfall.

Adorable home!

  • 4 of 5

We had a wonderful time at Donna's home. Our group had 6 adults and 4 children and the house was perfect. We did lots of cooking in the kitchen, as well. We would definitely stay again!

Relaxing

  • 5 of 5

We love coming here in both Summer and Winter.

In Winter we like driving to the nearby Ski Slopes and snow shoeing from the back door through the yard and surrounding woodlands. The house has a fire place to relax with a nice cup of tea.

In Summer we like finding nearby swim holes and having BBQ's on the deck.

It's an easy drive from NYC and the house has everything you need.

a wonderful place

  • 5 of 5

This is a cute house with a surprisingly generous layout on beautiful land. The master bedroom has a spa feel, with windows onto the yard and woods... and the other bedrooms are a good size, comfy and beautifully furnished as well. We had a wonderful time cooking and dining in the open kitchen/dining/living area as a group, and enjoyed the large porch for drinks and snacks. Minnewaska State Park and Mohonk Preserve and New Paltz and Rosendale are so close, we loved venturing out and coming back to relax. A wonderful, clean, well equipped place with great and responsive owners, who answered immediately when I had some questions about the area. I highly recommend it!

A Wonderful Escape!

  • 5 of 5

This is a wonderful home with a large open layout and wood burning stoves. It was perfect for our climbing trip being close to the gunks, with a playground for the little ones and a wood fired sauna for us. We loved our stay here!

Beautiful, quiet country retreat. Huge private yard and woods

  • 5 of 5

We've been coming to this house for years and it's a wonderful getaway. We call it "The Yellow House"!

The house has an oversized open layout kitchen, dining room, and living room which is great for hanging out while cooking. You can have people sitting and socializing in the kitchen and at the peninsula while you're cooking without feeling cramped.

There's lots of bedrooms. The master upstairs is light and airy with great windows looking out over the back yard and woods. There's two others upstairs, and one on the main floor by the kitchen. We had our parents up one weekend and they slept there so they didn't have to go up and down the stairs. The linens and blankets are thick and fluffy.

The deck is great for grilling and eating on, the kids love running around the yard and playing on the playset all the way in the back, and we can keep an eye on them easily. The sauna in the side building is amazing--it's a bit worn, but the fact that it's woodfired is amazing. So great to build a big fire and sit in the heat!

Only downside I could mention is that it's a bit of a drive to get to New Paltz to go to the grocery, but that's the tradeoff for being out in the country.

Great place, and we plan to go back all the time.
